Tomoe sighs and looks to Lucia and Kate What am i to do? She turns back to Fina Do you have parents ?

Ingrid asks Kate What did you mean when you said "specific "shops"" ?

Kate says, "She's right though. The law is cruel on Tieflings. If most other races steal stuff, they get fined and jailed. If Tieflings do it, they have their left hand chopped off."

As Ingrid asks the question, Kate looks to Tomoe. Her gaze has the look of someone asking if Ingrid's ready to hear about messed up things.

Fina says, "My parents... my dad kicked me out when I was 4. I have been living on the streets ever since." She looks a bit ashamed and says, "I often steal for food when I don't have money. Today I got caught."

Tomoe gives Kate a subtle shake of her head. That sounds horrible. How long have you been on your own ?

The girls says, "I... don't know. A few years at least. Maybe 3 or 4?" It's clear that there was no one to care for the girl and she lost track of time. Doing the mental math though, you can tell she's been alone for 6-8 years.

Kate gets Tomoe's hint and says to Ingrid, "Special shops. I'll tell your big sister about it. You don't have to worry."

Ingrid tries not to look offended that Kate doesn't want to answer her question directly. She cant hide her pout though as she looks away from Kate. 

So, If my intuition is right, you are about 10 years old. Tomoe pulls out one of her rations Here, eat this if you are hungry. It is not much, but it is technically food. Tomoe gives her the ration pack, stands up and pats her gently on the head. She signals Ingrid to keep an eye on her while she tries to talk to Kate and Lucia in some manner pf Privacy.  

Whispering she says I know i am unaccustomed to the Ultemor way of doing things, but please do not tell me she has been cast out like refuse because she is a tiefling. 

Lucia says, "Unfortunately, yeah. That's exactly why she is where she is. Tieflings are really unlucky if they are born in this empire."

Kate mentions, "Tieflings aren't very rare here but they are hard to see in the open because most have a hatred towards them and their race. You can often find them being sold as slaves or forced to work in brothels. That's why they tend to keep away from people as everyone seems to be out to get them."

(Personally, I'm trying to keep this at around M rated. Which means we can say, stuff like "Tomoe and Lucia go off and do NSFW stuff but we can't describe it. That would be crossing the line. Basically where keeping things SFW.)

Tomie looks crestfallen, What do I do? I cannot let her return to the streets.

(works for me. I'll keep things highly suggestive, yet vague.)

Kate says, "I'm not sure. Do we have a choice? We can't take her with us, we already have Ingrid to worry about and I don't think this girl knows how to fight. She'll probably die to Rat Liver if she stays with us for too long."

It sounds like she will not be safe no matter what we do. I would worry about here either way I fear  Tomoe is conflicted, she knows Kate is right, but is it worse than setting her back on the streets to die if starvation or enslavement?  For now, I think she can spend the night. 

Lucia agrees, "Yeah, one night is probably not going to kill her. Let's do that."

Tomoe reapproaches Fina. For now, you can stay the night with us. Tomoe will pull out extra brackets and make a makeshift bed on the floor. Lucia, you do not mind sharing the floor with me do you?

Fina seems a bit concerned. Being only 12, she's not gotten good at hiding her emotions on the same level as some of the others Tomoe has met in her adventures. She says, "N-No that's fine. I got to be going now. Thank you for the food and have a good night." She seems afraid.

And were do you think you are going little Miss. You are not going to sleep in the cold streets when i have offered you a warm bed are you ?

The girl looks a little more uneasy with your tone. She says, "No, I can manage. It's fine. Really."

I am sure you can, Tomoe will pick up Fina, who is probably small for her age due to malnutrition. But tonight you do not have too. You will sleep here. Tomoe gently sets her back on the bed. 

Yes, she is small for her age.

She continues to say, "No, you don't have to. I really should be going."

Lucia leans in and whispers, "She's probably worried we'd sell her to slavery or something."

Roll Persuasion to reassure the small girl and have her spend the night at your place.

Lucia's words give Tomoe some clarity. I see. Well Fina, all i can do is promise you will be safe and warm if you for tonight if you stay.

(Sad face)

Tomoe's words do nothing to put Fina at ease. She stands up and slowly makes her way toward the door and says, "It's fine really. I should be going. Thanks for the food. I appreciate it."

I cannot stop you, but here take this and try to stay out of trouble. Tomoe gives Fina 10 gold coins This should get you some food for a little while. When you need more, come and see me please? I do not want you stealing anymore. 

 Fina looks genuinely thankful for this and leaves after wishing you all a good night. She probably never had anyone be this nice to her.
