Kate tells her, "There really is no telling what kind of job you'll get. Mercs might be hired for anything from fighting bandits, to staging sabotages or stealing things. It really depends on what the employer needs." She pauses a bit to swallow before continuing. "Sometimes, the job turns into revenge when you have to hunt down the employer since the guy decided to not pay up."

Sounds like a rough town. What do you do for entertainment here?

"Me? I don't do much. I hang out with my boyfriend when I've got time."

Must be nice, spending time with someone you love. Tomoe sighs I've never had the time. I've been groomed since I was a child to be a knight. Though I'm sure my family has disowned me by now...Anyways, were is the beat place to find work? And what are your skills? If we partner up, I'd like to know what you can do.

"A knight huh?" Kate says, "Must be rough having your parents breathe down you neck and judge everything you do. As for myself, I don't really care much of what people think." She then addresses the second question, "As for what I do, I hit things with a big-ass sword until they stop hitting back. It's also great for intimidating people. You have any particular job in mind?"

Gang busting sounds like something we might be good at.

Kate says, "Yeah, I can get behind that. What gang you want to attack? I'll do it for free if it's Rat Liver. For other gangs, I'll offer my services at a discount. Hell, I still need to thank you for saving my bacon don't I? I'll do whatever the first job is for free."

Tomoe puffs out her chest and says in a deep slightly sarcastic voice No need for reward fair maiden. From a beauty such as yourself, nearly a kiss will fill my heart more than gold ever could.

Kate finds this joke funny and begins laughing loudly. "Yeah I think I'm fine fighting. Not exactly a fair maiden type you know? Especially with the scarred face and the arms. I think I look better fighting than in a dress anyway."

Dont sell yourself too short. One does not need a dress to be pretty. And some people find scars attractive. Maybe it was how I was raised, but I value ones ability and not just their looks. She takes a but if her food. Anyways, tell me more about this Rat Liver gang. Who was that old man that was in the den?

"Old man?" Kate seems to think for a while, "Gibbly's too young to be an old man or... was too young anyway. You mean the dude on the ground floor? He wasn't part of the gang and it was a drug house with people going there to take drugs. I think the old man was probably some guy living there. He doesn't seem familiar and I know he wasn't part of the Rat Liver." She then seems to get comfortable and says, "Now if you want to know about the gang itself, you've got the right girl. You know about the bandit camps outside the city and the various clans right? Well, the biggest bandit clan that rules the city is the Bronzor Clan. They have their toes in most of the crimes that happen in the area. Their rival who is not as powerful but still powerful enough to go up against them is called Ao Oni. Bronzor runs the streets and Ao Oni tries to dethrone them to take their place. Then we have a third gang that is less powerful than the two and more secretive. This gang is called Razorback. It's made up of kobolds, goblins and kenku." She pauses a bit to eat a few bites before continuing. "Most non-kobolds, goblins and kenku who can actually have potential to become dangerous criminals are recruited by Ao Oni or Bronzor. That leaves a bunch of rebellious teens who form small gangs that don't do much. They are the minor street gangs that do small crime and are made up of mostly incompetent but hot-blooded individuals. At least, that's how it was before some guy decided to bring these incompetent teens together. The members of Rat Liver are the bottom of the barrel criminals who are too incompetent to be recruited by Ao Oni or Bronzor. These guys are rash and generally not very smart. However, someone managed to unite the vast majority of these small time criminals under a single gang named Rat Liver. I have a personal grudge against this gang so I'm trying to bring it down."

Teenagers is it? Glad I spared a few then. They have time to get their lives right after facing possible death at my blade. Let's take down the Rat Liver Gang.

Kate sighs and shakes her head. "Not that simple. The gangers might be incompetent but their leader is anything but. He's one illusive bastard. I've been trying to figure out where he is but I don't have a clue. So I was just going after hideout after hideout looking for any leads. Everything came up jack. If we don't take out the leader, the gang won't stop and I have no idea where the leader is hiding or who he is."

Well, with two of us, we can beat down twice the dens with half the risk of getting sexy scars...Tomoe realizes a little too late how the end of that statement may have sounded. She quickly takes a drink and hopes Kate takes it as another joke and not another attempt of potential flirtatious flattery.

Kate says, "Now we're talking! If it's den busting, I know a place that might give us some clues. There's an orcish guy in Rat Liver called King. He rules a part of the slums however charging in there is going to be asking to get killed. Instead I have a idea on how we can get him and take him in for questioning. He fights in the illegal pit that's in the Diurnal district. The pit is owned by profit and I think I can bribe the pit master to let us keep King for questioning. One of is going to have to fight him alone though. We will have to challenge him in the pit, win and then drag him out of there. Ambushing him is a delicate thing. If we ambush him too close to the pits, the blood hungry champion is going to come in and kill all three of us. If we ambush him too far away, he'll call for back up. What do you say?"

Tomoe sighs relief internally. While did find her new friend quit attractive, she had to maintain her composer. Her goal was to have a merc partnership, nothing more. She set these thoughts aside quickly and admited, I was never much good in a fist fight. I accell at small arms, like one handed swords and small crossbows. My nimbleness and flexibility are my strong points, not brute strength. So I'm not sure I could take him on in an underground arena. I like the idea though.

Kate nods and says, "Alright then. I'll do the fighting and you do the questioning. So we on for tomorrow?"

Just tell me when and where.

Kate says, "Alright then. Meet me here at 6 PM tomorrow. I'll go and set things up with the pit master before then."

Tomoe agrees to the plan.
