Ellis was very glad as they defeated the Yuan-ti here, only to be shocked. His spell must have worn off, seeing Fenthaza running away along with other Yuan-ti. He quickly dashes, knowing that he can't cast his longer distance spells before looking to the group of Yuan-ti running away along with Rawk and Erro. Darion sees Fenthasa take off at speed and curses under his breath. He starts sprinting towards her, seeing Rawk swooping forward as well. His main thought is to try and break her concentration on the spell, to give them a chance to catch her. He reasons that Fenthasa's death will at worse result in chaos for the remaining Yuan-ti, and best precipitate another bloody leadership struggle. He hurls out a magic missile towards her, hoping luck stays on their side, as he sees Rawk begin to tear into her.

Fenthaza Str: 12
Rawk takes to the sky dropping her sword and drawing out her greataxe. As she nears Fenthaza she rolls upside down and flips greataxe above her head and lands sinking the axe into Fenthaza's shoulder. Fenthaza hisses out in pain and tries to block Rawk's second blow as an arrow sinks into her back and explodes into a twisting cocoon of thorns around her. Rawk buries her axe into Fenthaza's side while a barrage of arcane darts pummel her body. She tenses and coughs up blood as the thorns around her tighten piercing into her skin. She looks around at all the foes and narrows her eyes as she sees the large form of Bear Tempest barreling towards her then transforming back into his blue skinned Gensai form. "Remember us!" Tempest shouts conjuring up a pack of rippers between himself and Fenthaza and commands them to attack. The rippers move in quickly surrounding Fenthaza and one of the catapult yuan-ti. They leap into the air biting and clawing away at flesh. The other yuan-ti falls as the rippers tear away hunks but Fenthaza holds on to life, just barely.
The second catapult yuan-ti makes it two steps before a slew of arrows pierce its back from a double volley from two Dom-Gar army groups. The northern Dom-Gar archer group targets the large cluster of yuan-ti to the west and releases its own wall of arrows. A split second later another barrage of arrows flies out from behind the wall and two yuan-ti from the cluster fall to the ground riddled with arrows. Fenthaza feels the prick of the thorns against her body and begins to breathe quickly and heavily as they constrict around her. Seeing the vast majority of her forces cut down and the fleeing she changes tactics and casts Suggestion saying, "Perhapssss we can come to an arrangement... I have very usssseful information. I could be a great asssssset to your forcessss if I could just be releassssed from these thornssss and my life sssspared. Protect me from your friendssss and try to help them sssee how reasssonable I can be." While Fenthaza speaks the remaining four yuan-ti sprint westward in a mad dash towards the treeline. Depsite the shamans best efforts to clear paths through the hedges the progress of the foot soldiers is too slow to potentially catch up and the task falls to the archers' aim.
Rawk make a DC14 Wisdom save. (If you fail, you are charmed by Fenthaza and agree she should be spared. You believe her and think she could definitely help your group. You would really want to free her from the thorns and tell the others to stop attacking her. Make a DC14 strength save, with advantage to break the thorns. )

Darion continues to run towards Fenthasa, blind to anything else at the moment. Watching as she is lacerated from all directions, he gets a moment of grim satisfaction. He thinks he sees Fenthasa cast a spell, put he is already reaching for his own. With his final spell slot, he hurls out one last magic missile at Fenthasa.
Ellis was very surprised that everyone managed to go for Fenthaza and thinking that they can defeat her after all. He thinks of what to do, that it'll be impossible for these soldiers to get to the other Yuan-ti running away. He'll then dash over to Tempest and look to him. "We've almost got her. Come on, let's do it." Ellis says to Tempest to encourage him.

See the ferocity of the attacks of his compatriots, Erro figures there’s no time to talking this time. He continues to move forward and looses two more arrows with the intent to finish the job if it isn’t finished already. If it clearly is, he’s instead pepper the already fleeing Yuan-ti with his longbow.
Darion, filled with his own rage, uses the last of his energy to release a final volley of arcane darts that streak towards Fenthaza. At the same time Rawk raises her axe and lifts up a foot off the ground as her wings flap slowly to keep her aloft. The first arcane dart hits Fenthaza's back as Rawk begins her baseball style swing. The blood from the axe streams backward fighting the forward momentum leaving a floating line of red globules in the axe's wake. The second dart hits in the same spot indenting Fenthaza's back as it crushes the ribcage. The edge of Rawk's axe intersects Fenthaza's neck and begins to slice. The third dart hits pushing through Fenthaza's back and sends a spray of blood coming out through her chest and mouth as her heart is pulverized out from her body. The axes leaves the opposite side of Fenthaza's neck with plenty of momentum remaining as the wake of blood behind it gets larger. Fenthaza's body wriggles forward then back, her head bobbling precariously. The head topples forward as the body crumples backward to the ground. Rawk catches the head by the long brown hair braided in diamond dreads and lifts it victoriously.
The rippers hop excitedly at the sight of food then suddenly vanish is swirls of arcane light. Ellis sprints down close to Tempest pointing to the fleeing group of yuan-ti spurring Tempest's spirits and he sprints off in chase of the fleeing yuan-ti. Erro knocks and arrow aiming for Fenthaza but sees Rawk's blow sever her head and swivels to the west. He eyes his first target and releases an arrow into the air. While the arrow is still in flight he knocks a second and takes aim and releases it. The first arrow slams into the back of a snake headed yuan-ti causing it to stumble a step before the second arrow pierces through the back of its cobra head and sticks out through the mouth now agape. It topples and rolls about 10 feet before coming to its final resting place. The Dom-Gar soldiers rush towards the village gate to ensure the safety of the village while the archers move closer and release a rain of arrows in tandem with the Dom-Eko archers. Most of the arrows land harmlessly sticking into the ground but a few find their intended targets. As the three remaining yuan-ti continue to move the ground beneath the closest two suddenly erupts into the air. The two yuan-ti are sent careening head over tail before being buried in a pile of rubble. The sole remaining yuan-ti slithers into the brush of the forest and disappears from view.
End of combat
A wave of emotions flashes through each of you as the revelation of your bittersweet victory sets in. Your blood still filled with adrenaline fights the calming feeling of a huge burden being lifted. Your mind races through scenarios and conflicting thoughts of whether to pursue the final yuan-ti, help the injured soldiers, check on the people within Dom-Eko, and reconnect with the second party from Dom-Gar. After about 10 seconds you take one last look in the direction of the yuan-ti that escaped and turn back to the village of Dom-Eko. The field before you is wrought with corpses and the smell of death cuts through your fading adrenaline. The greenish black clouds of poison slowly drift up into the air and vanish harmlessly after a few moments. You see the shamans scattered about the battlefield tending to as many wounded soldiers as they can and then the pain of your wounds begins to set in.
Rawk grabs the head and stows her axe then flies over to where she thinks she dropped her sword and shield and picks them up making sure not to lose her grasp on Fenthaza's head. She'll fly up into the air heading towards the village and look for her father and any enemies inside the village. If everything is good she will fly back down to the group and show off the head. "A few more to go. Is everyone alright? We should rest a day or two and attack the temple to finish this."she says still in a bloodlust for yuan-ti.
Rawk would be completely covered in blood, her feathers matted to her skin and eyes wide with excitement. She had some cuts and bruises to be sure but she would seem more than willing to take off at the drop of a hat.
As Fenthasa dies, Darion stands there stupidly for a moment, not quite believing his eyes. As he hears the victory sounded, he dazedly looks around. Then, with some determination he walks over to where Liss'ard fell. He stares down at the body for a moment then just starts kicking it, yelling insults at the dead Yuan-ti, releasing weeks of terror and fear. He collects himself eventually, and goes over to where Rawk is, clutching Fenthasa's head. He stares at it for a moment "Was it worth it?" he mutters to her "Giving up your humanity, to end like this?"
He shakes his head, only hearing Rawk as if she were far away, and suddenly realises how tired he is, and his legs are shaking. He turns round and wretches violently and repeatedly on to the ground. Only then does he start taking in what is happening around.
"Are you alright?" he asks Rawk concernedly "How many did we loose?"
“Tempest, do you have anything that allows you to pinpoint the yuan-ti that escaped?” She turns to Darion, “Less than I thought but more than I wanted.” She didn’t know exact numbers but when she saw the size of the yuan-it forces and the catapults she thought they’d have many more losses. “Taking out their leader will be a crushing blow to them regardless of their numerical losses. Hopefully her death will have the same effect as when you all killed the other leader.”
They did it, they won the battle and killed Fenthaza! Ellis sighed deeply in huge relief and fell to his knees, so overwhelmed right now at how they actually did it. That was so intense, afraid that they might lose and would have had many more losses. He hears the others, agreeing with Rawk as he stands back up. "Yeah, we should all rest and recuperate after that battle." Ellis says back to them, thankful to still be alive right now.
((Yes, no doubt. Well beyond anything I thought that we would be doing play by post! Bravo. Thanks for that!))
Erro’s wounds catch up with him and he has to sit down and take a deep breath. He looks around and surveys the battlefield. A stunning victory, but still at a cost. Hopefully it would be over now. Surely those snakes had no more fight left in them. Perhaps now he had earned himself a safe home to live in. After a few moments of reflection and rest he gets up and joins his companions, checking to see if they are okay. He’ll make his way into the village and see if the other group is there.

(All thanks to y'all. That could have gone either way and y'all had some great rolls and strategy that proves to be superior. I really wanted Fenthaza to escape but her dice wanted her to die.)
Tempest looks to Rawk and says, "I don't. Even if I did, I don't know if it would be worth losing the ability to save a soldier. Let it go. Let it tell the ones back at the temple of our great victory. Let it build fear within their minds."Tempest bows and rushes off towards the wounded and begins giving orders to the shamans. You watch as Tempest conjures a multitude of berries and hands them out to the shamans and soldiers. "Take these to the ones who can't move. Any that can walk bring them as close as you can." and then Tempest conjures up a spectral green bear cub infused with natural energy. You watch the bear cub prance and bound between wounded soldiers healing them until it disappears. Tempest conjures another handing out more berries to be distributed. Soldiers from within Dom-Eko exit out of the western gate and rush to the aid of the others. At the expiration of 20 minutes, 90 are saved thanks to the efforts of the combined armies. This is the first time you see Jaron and Kanush as well as the rest of the Dom-Gar party. The two friends appear to be in good spirits and greet you all warmly.
It takes the better part of an hour for the southern gate to be cleared of debris and safely opened though the full repair may take up to a week. You can see the impact from the stones along the wall and as you come inside you see the charred remains of 6 buildings as well as the scattered corpses of the archers who fell to the poisonous cloud. In total 70 soldiers were killed while the yuan-ti suffered losses amounting to: 36 broodlings, 30 purebloods and 51 malisons. The next 2 hours are spent in a herculean effort to dig a pit for the yuan-ti bodies to be burned and individual graves for the soldiers that wish to be buried at Dom-Eko. Two of the shamans begin burial rights and work to preserve the corpses of soldiers who are to be buried elsewhere performing a small ritual Gentle Repose over each body.
You are exhausted, sweaty and covered in dirt and blood. Still you find the physical, mental and emotional strength to stand and watch the giant bonfire of the yuan-ti corpses and partake in the ceremony committing the dead soldiers to their final resting place. You enter into Dom-Eko with your spirits high, the bonfire illuminating the darkening sky and sit. You mindlessly consume food and drink what is handed to you. You see Tempest and others still hard at work tending to the injured. That's when you notice the civilians. Your mind finally switched off from war mode, you see the massive amounts of civilians pitching in to cook, clean and help their protectors. Women and children walk around to each of the soldiers carrying water and food. Others carry large jugs and linen cloths and work to clean the bloodied faces of the men and women that fought. You see the same blank stares on many of the unhardened soldiers who just witnessed enough death to last many lifetimes. At the same time you see groups of soldiers reveling in the victory telling their own heroic viewpoint of the battle. You breathe in and for the first time you feel a strong sensation from within as the trickle of hope bursts into a flood.
Rawk nods at Tempest's words and will fly over to carry soldiers closer or get berries to further away soldiers. Once they sit down to eat she thanks the civilians for the food and huddles up near her father and friends. With her rage abated she starts to think about the losses and impact of the battle on all the families that lost loved ones. Anger burns inside but she keeps it down and continues to look at the giant group of people all here to help fight the yuan-ti. She turns to her friends taking a good hard look at each of them. She remembers the day they all arrived and is shocked at how short a time has passed since then and chirps, "You all did great out there. It feels like you've been here for years, like you were always here kind of. You didn't have to stay, you didn't have to help but you did. Thank you. Thank you for staying in Dom-Gar and helping us fight the yuan-ti."
“A home is a valuable thing, Rawk. I hope that I have earned a spot here. That you are willing to fight so bravely to defend it speaks of its worth. I wish that I could afford my original homeland the same luxury. Perhaps one day.” He muses for a few moments and looks out over the field, trying to make the most of the moment, both the good and the bad, the hurt and the newfound hopefulness. That’s something he can’t remember feeling for a long while. “Fate was good to us today, friends. We live and even those who did not met a brave and honorable end.”
Erro will most respectfully participate where he can in honoring the dead and observing the funeral rites, trying to be a true student of what he hopes will be his adopted culture. However, he also does not hold back reveling, and he joins in drinking and adding in his own tales of heroism from the previous battle.
