Both of those rolls were good. In your different ways - Tempest with his knowledge of nature, and Ellis with your more innate understanding of the motivations of creatures - you both intuit that these ambush predators have been taken off guard by Erro running moving towards them. Prey is supposed to run! Prey is not supposed to be able to see them! They are both now hesitating, unsure what to do with this strange behaviour.
((I support this way of doing inspiration! Have at it!))
Erro, now seeing that the terrible creature sees him, swallows hard and then musters up the courage to stand tall. He knows that his new companions are in rough shape, and many of them took hits against the rippers. If there's one thing Erro knows that he is good at, it is taking a hit. Perhaps if he can occupy this beast for long enough these kind people will figure out a way to bail him out again. He says quietly to his companions, "If they charge, I'll distract this one. Focus the other one and then come help me as well as you did before."
Erro braces himself behind his shield, and squats down ready to jump nimbly to either side as he takes the Dodge action. Erros eyes quickly flash with a sort of primeval magic as he uses his bonus action to cast Hunter's Mark on the creature.

Spider Tempest will chitter loudly and raise up four of its front legs in an aggressive stance and stomp the other four loudly while trying to maneuver himself between the group and the second creature. He'll ready an attack should the creature charge in and come into range of his fangs.
Held action: Melee attack against a hostile creature that comes into range.
Attack: 11 Damage: 5 DC 11 Con save or take: 11 poison damage, half on success.
Ellis could sense that these creatures were taken off guard and are confused, hesitating now. He then heard Erro, nodding back and thinking. He knew that most of his spells would not help that much against these type of creatures, but figured that he could do something to support the others. So he decided to wait and ready a spell for if the creature charges at them.
Held Action: Faerie Fire at the creature the second it starts coming toward them (gets within spell range), 14 DEX save (violet light)

The two creatures, hesitant though they are still look hungry. The one near Erro, seeing he does not approach further gives a snort then a strange low call, a trembling sound that Erro feels in his bones.
Both of them, very cautiously take a move forward.
Random roll to decide which would move first for Ellis' spell: 4
Tahvo closes his eyes, and Darion turns to him "Trust in Tymora" is all he says, and Tahvo seems calmed. Lomar on the other hand looks ready to break, and starts taking a few hesitant steps to run. Fortunately, Kanush sees him and grabs his arm "Don't" he hisses "that may provoke them to chase!". Lomar looks scared, but holds his ground for now.
The creature facing Tempest is the first to move and the spell is let loose at it: Dex save: 10
The other one facing Erro gives another of the strange low sounds, louder this time. It takes a few steps towards him, getting closer. About 10 feet away it lowers it's head down so that it stares directly at Erro, close enough he can hear the breath sliding in and out of it's great lungs and smell the odour of rotting flesh that emanates from the carnivore's mouth. Abruptly it lets out a loud deep growl and snaps it's teeth in Erro's direction.
It is trying to intimidate: 23. Feel free to use whatever skill you think would be appropriate for Erro to respond with as an opposed roll.
Tempest suddenly sees the beast in front of him become outlined in magical fire, and the great creatures gives a high cry of alarm. Distracted it moves one way, then the other trying to run from this strange sight. It snaps it's jaws at the lights dancing over it, obviously confused and thrown. Whatever it was intending to do is forgotten and it appears distracted completely, at least for this moment.
((Oooh yeah, I like it. I think it most sounds like a CHA save to me, though unless I roll a nat 20 I won't be beating it! Add +3 if you deem it to be a WIS save instead!))
The noise reverberates through Erro's bones, and the smell assaults his senses. This wasn't as good idea as it was in theory. Erro's legs start to shake, and his shield stance falters. Erro never dreamed of facing down something like this. Like a Yuan-ti mutated into a nightmare; a true scion of Dendar. He wants to look back at his party to remind himself that they are there behind him, but he cannot take his paralyzed gaze away from the monster.
Ellis smiles as he sees that the spell worked and seeing that the one creature is now distracted. But he looks back, only to see the other creature now close to Erro and Erro seemingly scared. "Erro! Don't be scared, we're all here. We can beat them." he says to try to encourage him. Then he fires off a Vicious Mockery at the one close to Erro.
Bonus Action: Inspiration to Erro
Action: Vicious Mockery at the creature close to Erro, 14 WIS Save or take 2 and disadvantage on next attack roll

The creature facing Erro gives a snort that sounds almost like satisfaction. Finally the prey is behaving like is supposed to, no more of this running towards it nonsense.
Abruptly the creature bites down towards Erro (with disadvantage): 9, damage: 11, and Erro sees it's great jaws widen and snap right towards him.
Whatever the result of the attack, it then shakes it's head in confusion as Ellis' song reaches it. Wis save:11. It may not understand words, but it's small brain can still have some grasp of the sentiment!
The other creature near Tempest is still biting away at the 'flames' surrounding it when suddenly it finds itself covered in some horrible sticky substance: Strength check: 7
The beast’s furious assault overcomes Erro’s defenses and it’s massive jaws clamp down upon him. Luckily he is able to wrest himself free before it causes too awful much damage.
Erro decides perhaps it is time to go on the offense. If it knows he means business perhaps it would leave him alone! Erro attempts to quickly sting the lurker with his sword.
Erro could feel through his sword that he didn't land a damaging blow. Rather than step back into position, Erro attempts to drive the sword deeper until he hit juicy flesh.
Reroll attack (if I understand this variant correctly): Attack: 20 Damage: 7
