Looking inside Varis sees that the construction bears telltale signs of dwarvish architecture but you probably knew that already. If anything was useful in this place, it has been burned away by the explosion. However, you smell faintly the same stench that was produced when you burned through the mountain moss. This indicates that at least some of the moss here were covered in the fire resistant fluid you encountered a few miles back. The thickness of the ash on the stairs indicate that the amount of those fungus-moss hybrids was increasing the more you went up. It does not bode well for whatever lies at the top of the tower.
The purple glow did not fade. Endurance goes up the stairs to find a trap door in the ceiling that leads to the top of the light house, the place where the purple glow was coming from. As expected, there is a purple light coming from beyond the trapdoor.
Yuldra tries to commit the look of the exploding fungus to memory, given how important being able to burn stuff seems to be... And then, using the tip of her rapier, tries to lift the trap door.
Yuldra manages to lift the trap door up with little effort. Doing so causes viscous fluid to leak out of the floor above. The purple glow seems much brighter now. Through the crack, you can see a carpeting of purple moss in the room above.
You open the door fully and aside for some more of the slipper transparent goop, nothing much happens. I already described what was up there: Everything covered in purple glowing moss.
"I am sure it is your turn. It has been proven that you are only rated a 4/10 rather than my 8/10 so you should climb up first." Endurance has backed down a bit, expecting a violent reaction

As Yuldra pokes her head, she is surprised by how bright the purple glow is from up close. You are forced to squint to block out some of the light. However what you see is unsettling. There have been legends that told of large mystic crystals which could store raw magic energy for use later. These crystals were effectively like magic batteries. However, they were just a thing of legend. Or at least that's what you thought until now. It seems that the people of Durath had been able to create such crystals. The light house has a large crystal which uses the stored magical energy to create a beacon of light that can be seen from far away. However, the cursed moss and fungi haven't even spared the crystal. The crystal's color is pink and it is responsible for the bright purple glow. A layer of moss, fungi and their symbiotic life form is growing on the crystal. It is feeding off the immense stored magic. The most disturbing is how the parasites have enabled the crystal to absorb energy from outside sources and convert it into magic energy to feed the life growing on it. It's like they have given an inanimate object a crude form of life for the sole purpose of being the host to their parasitic nature.
Due to their diet of pure mystic energy, the moss and fungi seem to be releasing their own pale glow as a way to expel the excess so that no harm is done to them. In other words, these plants are radio-active.
Yuldra is unsettled by this sight. You take 13 Sanity damage. DC15 WIS/CHA or INT (your choice) save for half.
The large rock isn't 100% covered with the moss/fungi. There are are random moderately sized patches on the crystal that don't have any parasites on them. That's how you know that the crystal is pink is giving off bright purple light.
(OOC : Since touching it with an eldritch pact weapon had no effect and didn't prompt a reaction from her patron (who, I remind you, she doesn't know can't speak to her here though she's starting to wonder) - If there's room to do so with plenty of clearance, she'll place her left palm on it. Damn, why didn't I put more points into Wisdom and Intelligence?)
Yuldra will try to scrape a clear patch on the rock with her pact weapon in a bid to channel some of that energy for herself and her patron.
(Yes. Yes I do. It's dismissable, resummonable and currently disconnected from her patron, so how bad can it be? I think I'm about to find out, and I think it's a whole lot worse than I might have anticipated. Hee hee hee)

Oh. I thought you were trying to scrape fungus off.
As Yuldra scrapes the rock, a bust of light shoots out from it and she feels an powerful force enter her body through the sword. It's not the good kind of force however. Yul's CON Save: 24 Dmg: 8 Force
Yuldra feels the force like lightning, trying to tear her from the inside. She is pushed back and crashes into a wall. It could have been worse. She could have exploded.
(OOH I misunderstood you. She was trying to scrape fungus off the crystal to get to the crystal, then touch it with the pact weapon or her hand. Presume the result is the same)
"Ouch! I... uh... I feel so much more powerful. Like I can do anything! Whatever you do, Endurance, don't touch that rock - the power is mine!"
Varis peeks in the door, then turns back with a big grin. See? Worked like a charm! He'll step in and check out the place.

Did the purple glow fade at all? Endurance will follow Varis in and go up the stairs to look for anything surviving
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)

Ah go on then - shove to try and open the hatch fully, mouth closed, being ready to get out of the way of any gick that's going to seep down.

"who's turn is it to do something stupid that will involve a high chance of becoming a mushroom man. Glory?" Yuldra inquires.

Yuldra has no answer to that. She pokes her head through the hatch.

So... how exactly is Yuldra trying to get some of the crystal's power for herself?
