Why,asks Witt, is he really that powerful? What has he done that makes people scared of him? Witt looks around for something to drink, waving down a passing server if that's an option. He seemed, I don't know, more full of himself that genuinely threatening. Was that wrong of me?
”Thank you. Any help will...help. I want to try and see what she is up to? Could you all get close to me and. Lock the view of the guards a bit?” If the group agrees Moira focuses on Hakon and the elven woman raises her hand tracing a sigil in the air "Omoh meropel"
Upon hearing that Sora is moving to sneak into the castle Moira waits till she is just through the door, if she gets through, and summons Rusty onto Sora’s shoulder.

Once again there is no direct response from the Queen, other than perhaps sharing pointed looks with the goliath next to her. Clearly she is being very cautious, perhaps more. That cautious, however, seems to extending to her guards, who step before Nemeia in a guarded stance as she approaches."Sorry to inform you but the Queen won't be taking any audiences tonight. Please enjoy the celebration." That last bit sounding more like a polite way of asking Nemeia to leave.
"Wouldn't surprise me if the man was massively full of himself."Krin continued speaking with Witt while all of this was going on. "Even so, you don't get that rich without stepping on someone to get there. Wouldn't put it past a man like him to be completely ruthless for an extra gold, doubly so when it came to his pride. Still, not like I know him personally, but it sounds like you and your friends are doing the right thing. That's always good to see."
Meanwhile as Moira casts out her spell, she could feel the magic grabbing hold of the Duke. But Linthe somehow just shakes off the spell. She looks around and almost immediately locks eyes with Moira. You barely catch her muttering something before she reaches out and touches Hakon on the shoulder. Almost instantly Moira can feel her spell being dispelled. For a moment it seemed Linthe was about retaliate somehow but the moment is interupted by the approach of a pair of royal guard, one being the familiar guard that Moira dealt with previously."Excuse me, ma'am, but you're going to have to come with us." Before anyone at the table could protest she cut them off with an added explanation,"This is by the Queen's orders."
At the same time another royal guard was reeling from a fake but smelly plate of egg appetizers, "Loki's Breath! Yes they've gone bad! Why are you showing this to me? Go back to the kitchen and deal with it, will you?"
With all of this occurring, it gave Sora and 9 plenty of opportunity to slip past the service entrance unnoticed, with Rusty in tow. beyond the doorway they discover a long corridor with simple doorways dotted along each side. It was not hard to surmise this is probably where the servant quarters were located.
Offering no resistance to the guards Moira gives one last glance at Linthe. “Of course. My apologies. You will find a wand at my waist if you prefer to remove it.” Keeping her hands visible and still she looks to the teens briefly “Please speak to my friends about what we discussed, a halfling named Witt. And let the queen know if you can.” Then follow along with the guards.
Khorzik backs away from the guard and lowers the platter. "Uh, you are right. Thanks."He then follows Sora and 9. "It is Khorzik. I assume you knew that, but it is always better to avoid unnecessary confusion. Do either of you require invisibility?"

Witt smiles. We are trying, at least. He looks around the massive and richly-decorated room, and then back at the gnome. You've been so kind, talking to a bumbling halfling with no idea what he's doing. Thank you so much. I think I should go and check my friends are okay, but it was lovely to talk to you and I hope I have another chance in future. Witt gives what he thinks is a formal bow, and then heads off to whichever of his companions he sees first: Perception17
Nemeia, feeling rather defeated, nods with a bit of sadness at the guard's soft demand. "Another time perhaps," she says before moving away and trying to find somewhere she can stand without being in the way. Whatever plan the others were up to, she hoped that it was going better than her attempts to better understand the new queen. She grabs a small morsel off a passing serving plate and does her best to keep a watchful eye over the gala. She didn't expect there to be any trouble but she wanted to be ready if something did arise.
Both Witt and Nemeia would easily catch sight of Moira, flanked by a pair of guards, as she was lead from the ballroom and out of the castle. Indeed the guards would eventually escort Moira out past the gates. They were clearly grateful for Moira's cooperation, even apologizing for having to escort her out of the gala. But alas, orders were orders, and these times where tense enough of as it is, so being extra careful was certainly warranted.
Back inside the castle, past the ballroom and on the other side of the service entrance, Sora, 9, Khorzik, and Rusty all found themselves at the end of a long hallway. Offset doors alternate along both sides of the currently empty hallway which ends at a set of simple but clean stairs leading up somewhere.
If Witt also notices Nemeia watching Moira be taken away, he half-walks, half-runs over to her. Is she okay? Are they arresting her? What happened? Do you think we should follow her?
As she is being led out Moira tries to wave off the others. Indicating that she is fine. On the way out she lets the guards know that she completely understands and apologizes for making this necessary. Then inquired if any of them know where Linthe is staying in the city.
At first the guards are not sure who Moira is talking about, but eventually they recognize the woman she's referring to, confirming that she's seen around the castle a lot these days, especially when Count Hakon is around. However they have no idea where she stays most nights.
Nemeia looks to Witt with a bit of confusion. "I'm not certain what that was about but she seems to be okay. Perhaps it is her own distraction and means of exploring while the guests are confined to the castle."Nemeia seems puzzled by it all but knows that Moira wouldn't just get kicked out of the gala for no reason. That wouldn't fit with the plan at all! "Were you able to learn any new information toward the investigation? I have to admit that I was rather fascinated by the food offerings that I haven't been able to learn much myself."
Nemeia does her best to not seem concerned over her friend's well being. She'd never had reason to think the guards here would cause Moira and harm, but the words of the Duke had her questioning a lot of things about this court. The Queen seemed young and impressionable but Nemeia had no idea if that was all a facade for someone evil enough to commit matricide. She wanted to put her trust and faith in the innocence of the Queen but she hadn't been able to find any evidence one way or the other.
Sora moves forward quickly, moving alongside 9 as they head up the stairs.
"I kinda hate to suggest this." She whispers to everyone, "But this is a big castle and we got a limited amount of time to find something. You guys wanna risk splitting up, or stick together for safety?"
Perhaps. I'm not sure how entering the castle and then getting escorted from the castle is easier than simply not entering the castle in the first place. I suppose it is more fun though. Maybe she'll explain when we next see her. I'm sure she'll be fine - she's very capable, after all. Witt looks around to see if he can spot anyone else.
No, I didn't learn anything useful... at least, not for what we're doing. I did meed a very interesting gnome who is an inventor of a machine that makes designs on clothing - I think you'd like her. She was really friendly, and to be honest I was so surprised to find someone pleasant and kind that I sort of got lost in the conversation and forgot what we were doing. I suppose we're... the distraction? While the others are off doing... sneaky stuff?
Who is standing nearby? Is anyone paying attention to Nemeia and Witt?
As Witt looks around, the only people he can find are Kal and Lynn, who have since moved away from Hakon and Linthe. Otherwise the party seems to be progressing normally and other then Moira's departure there doesn't seem to be anything unusual happening as far as they can tell.
That is until a young woman wearing a very expensive dress begins walking towards Witt and Nemeia. She appears to be a half-elf, tanned skin, with green eyes that contrast sharply against her dark brown hair. She is clearly a from nobility, or perhaps royalty, regardless it seems very obvious that she comes from a well off family. Though she herself is still quite young, little more then a teenager. However this teenager is walking towards the two with a determined purpose.
"Pardon me, sir. Is your name Witt by any chance?" The woman asked him,"I'm assuming you're Moira's friend from the way you were watching her being escorted out. Unfortunately she only told us you were a halfling so this is more a guess on my part. My name is Tirtyani, I hope I'm not disturbing you."
Meanwhile deeper within the castle, the infiltration group finds themselves on the second floor. Taking a quick look around the place seems mostly empty, as most of the guards and servants are focused on the festivities below. 9 hears a very faint hint of footsteps off in the distance but otherwise the floor seems fairly empty. All you can see from the stairs is more hallways and what appears to be sitting rooms. The stairs continue up from where you're standing.

"Ok, lets do this." Moving carefully and quietly, Sora will check to see what's behind the first closest door into the hallway they are in.

On the other side of the door you see .... a normal bedroom. Not particularly well adorned either.
It doesn't take much for the group to realize these are all likely the servants quarters.
