"Oh! Quivering Forest! Something to do with the forest!" Zelra rushes outside the tavern and looks at the dwarf girl and Uragum."The tooth was originally from the forest. The elf had a bow from the forest. The dwarf girl is wearing flowers from the forest. But what about the half elf? Maybe his quill is a feather from the forest or something?"As she's speaking, she goes back into the tavern and grabs the bow and quill before returning back outside and giving them to Uragum. She then takes the necklace from the dwarf girl's body and places it on Uragum's head."Maybe this will work. You look beauitful, Uragum. Keeping holding onto that tooth." She steps back a few times, watching with anticipation, and gives him two thumbs up.
Ola was torn between two strong emotions - admiration of Zelra's smartness and awe of Uragum's amazing look - flowers indeed brought out his eyes. Still the matter was too serious and feeling helpless, she was waiting for another attempt to fix the horribly mishap to work.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Uragum is shocked, taking 1 lightning damage as he presses the tooth to the dwarf girl. There is no reaction. Zelra takes 2 lightning damage from an electric shock as well while retrieving the flowers, placing them around Uragum's head.
After a few more seconds, the dwarf girl quits her seizing as the lightning leaves her, darting toward another nearby creature: Uragum. But rather than spark directly into him, it courses around him, whirling around his feet, then, legs, waist, chest, and head, before swirling into the air and coalescing into the tooth held by the goliath.
The human and half-elf collapse into a heap, as does Surruk, who was walking toward the center of the street in a sleep-like state as well. The tooth, once warm to the touch, now feels strikingly normal. The lightning is gone.
Zelra puts her arms in the air with a look of wild shock and excitement. She looks around at everyone, mouth open wide with a smile. "I'm a ******* genius."
"You are ******* are!" quietly echoed Ola and blushed to tears, realizing what word she just said. To hide her confusion, she run to Surruk to see if she can help - with remaining points of healing and her medical skills.
Holding the tooth, Uragum stands up. He turns to the others and says, "I do t know if this thing is still dangerous but we need to know. I'll take it part way into the forest here for safety and cast a spell to identify its properties. Can you all take care of the victims?"
He then walks about 20 yards into the forest and begins to cast his spell on the tooth.
Still shocked and alarmed, Sylyra speaks before thinking, "You can't go in the forest." When Uragum turns to look questioningly at the elf, Sylyra clears his throat and straightens, taking on his normal slightly haughty look. "A pact with the fey. You'll have to cast your spell elsewhere."
Surruk appears to be fine, coming to even as Ola arrives to help. She requires no healing magic, but is slightly dazed. The human and half-elf also stir, rubbing their temples and trying to get a bearing on their surroundings.
Buhrell Caah accompanies Uragum to the forest's edge, curious of the item's properties as well. The tooth seems to be harmless for the moment, but strangely even Uragum's spell cannot reveal all of its properties, only confirming that its wielder is very susceptible to lightning (in game terms, vulnerability to lightning damage).
"The others have likely cleaned up the scene by now," Caah says. "I'd like to offer you all a reward for your assistance, if you will accompany me. You can keep the tooth if you would like, but I would prefer to take it back to my peers in the Emerald Enclave for observation."
Knowing Surruk is fine, Ola checked every unwilling participant of the events (after so many days spent in the Temple, she felt as a town healer) but as well made sure both dwarf and human are secured - they brought that menace to the city and had to answered for it (or at least tell where did they get it).
Seeing Uragum leave to the forest, Zelra walks towards the now conscious human and slaps him on the back before grabbing him by the back of the collar. "You are so lucky people didn't die. What exactly was that thing and where did you get it from?"
Neither the dwarf nor human put up a fight, allowing Ola to secure them and await the arrival of the Black Fist. The man, the first to be struck by the tooth's lightning, struggles for words before answering Zelra.
"I bought it from a traveling band. If I had known, I would...if there had been...I didn't...they showed me that the tooth could be used to heat and work metal more easily than in a forge. I purchased it in hopes of selling it to the Ironworkers' Guild and making a fortune. I had no..." he hangs his head low.
As the Black Fist are arriving to take the human and dwarf in for questioning, Uragum returns with Buhrell Caah and the tooth in tow.
"Thank you all for your assistance. Tonight could have painted a much different story if you had not been involved," Buhrell says. "I have a reward for your from my own pockets, please take it. You've earned it." He divvies out 100 gold pieces among the five of you and motions to the tooth in Uragum's hands. "This thing is obviously too dangerous to leave around. I would like to bring it to the Emerald Enclave and have it thoroughly examined. Would you mind?"
"Before we hand this over," Sylyra says, narrowing his eyes at the half-orc (after pocketing his share of the coin), "I have a question for you. The human says he had no idea the tooth was so dangerous. How is that the Emerald Enclave knew of this dangerous magical item and that it was here?"
"We have been tracking increased interest in dragons in this region," Buhrell answers. "In particular, we followed a band of humans along the Iron Route that had been dealing suspicious items. It was their words to merchants along the route that drew our attention."
The half-orc grins, "Of course, you are welcome to keep the tooth for yourselves, but I believe that such a dangerous item requires the study and attention of the Enclave."
"I would like to make a magical item out of the tooth. Seems like something lightning based would work but alas I do t have the facilities to do so yet and it seems dangerous to just leave until I'm able to do so. Would a trade be possible? Material for material?"
Zelra sighs and rolls her eyes, though she has a smile on her face to show she's not being serious. "Urgh, you magic people with your magic things. While you all deal with this, I'm going back in to finish my meal and celebrate my genius."She lets out a loud whistle and shouts to the crowd. "Everyone! I'm a genius and to celebrate my genius, I'll buy everyone a free drink! But only one each. Because I'm poor. Or actually I'm just gonna spend a max of 5 gold. First come, first serve or whatever."She then heads back to tavern and orders herself some food and drink, letting the barkeep know her intentions before going back to their table.
Having no interest in the magic - dangerous magic! - item at all, Ola personally would be glad to hand it over to Emerald Enclave, she did not doubted their ability to deal with such stuff. But for now the incident was over and she simply returned to her interrupted meal.
