While everyone conversed, Shae would begin pulling out some supplies and laying out her notes. "Maybe we could learn from each other. I suppose we don't know until we try. My thought would be that he shadows me as I care for those in need right now to see our methods, then he may be able to draw parallels to their ways healing." She'd look to the Grung, "I have notes and sketches of plants we all studied along our route. Perhaps you can fill in the blanks of what I haven't made time to decipher yet."
The captain produces the amulet, and the grung's excitement grows visibly: "Yes, the stone. You have. Koro-arak was right, you steal stone! You doom grung! Because of you chief Guruk-oak kill by tribe! " A bunch of grung swearwords follow, which the Professor is glad he only understands literally. Anyone trying to talk to Gruk might need to have to calm him down or persuade him that you aren't an evil group out to doom them.
Shae, from your observations during the battle, you saw the grung healer apply some sort of salve directly onto the skin of the injured grung. You suspect that their skin might be more absorbent than human skin, but if Gruk could teach you the grung ways of medicine, you might be able to adapt some poultices.

The Professor grows visibly perturbed and says firmly in his ‘professorial voice of authority’, “No! I’ve already told you! We found this necklace on a badly decomposing body slain by the deadly plants! I would have never found it except I detected for magic after we fought off three of the plants!”
Not that I want to, but here is a Persuasion check: *4
Though agitated, Professor S speaks the truth plainly and directly, trying to remember exactly what the body looked like that was wearing the necklace and answering any other questions as he translates for the others who might wish to speak.
More softly he turns to the captain and says, “It would appear that the grung are the rightful owner of this necklace. Here, take this dagger instead that we might be warned of any incoming attack.” Snively hands over the dagger to the captain and indicates that she should give Gruk the necklace.

Maxine was never good on persuasion and it looked like she had done enough already, foolishly insisting on showing the stone (what was she expecting anyway?). She just sat there, helpessly trying to reason with the creature, that did not even understand her: "We just came here. If we were here two months ago - you would recognize us, would not you?"
Persuasion: 7
She was relieved, when Professor solved the problem radically - by giving the stone to the grung.
Shae would pause for a moment to observe the outbreak of conversation that's occurring over the stone. She'd open her mouth while considering an attempt to comfort the grung, but perhaps it might be too late and there isn't really anything more she could add that her comrades haven't explained already.
Shae would chew her lip a little bit, but then decide she's wasted enough time and her teammates need tending too. And with that she'd gather her supplies to begin treatment.
First the warlock would begin with her usual routine of the liberal use of prestidigitation to clean dirt off her patients, specifically focused around their wounds. Next she'd address some of the 'easier' wounds first.
"I'm sorry I didn't get to you before you went off with the Professor. But I'm glad you're alright." Moving quickly, Shae would clean and treat Berrus' abdomen cut to prevent infection.
Cliff was next in line with some superficial cuts for her to clean and dress to avoid further bleeding and of course possible infection. "Thank you Cliff." It was a simple sentence, but it was genuine. "Rest." She'd do her best to place a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Next was Brax. There wasn't much she could do for him in his weak and exhausted state except clean and patch up his most recent wounds. "Thank you for hanging in there Brax. I hope you rest well."
Moving methodically around camp, she'd make her way to Bertrand. Shae would check his forehead temperature with the back of her hand. "How are you doing?" She would kneel down to look into his eyes doing her best to connect with him in hopes she could assist with his mental state. "You've been brave and selfless. You've fought relentlessly at our side. I know gratitude is not enough to take away your suffering, but please know you are not alone. We are here." She'd tend his wounds as she spoke softly to him trying to keep his mind here with them. "Thank you Bertrand."
Shae would finally make her way over to Falx who's been rather quiet. Upon closer inspection, the warlock would let out a soft gasp realizing the true severity of his wounds. I should have never hesitated or waited to treat anyone, regardless of our supplies. She'd chastise herself because it didn't only apply to Falx, but to everyone here. Shae would grit her teeth and begin addressing Falx's wounds, beating herself up for her lack of attentiveness while she does. "Falx, I'm sorry I didn't come to you sooner..."
Finally, she would make her way over to the captain who she knew was in severe pain. Shae would inspect her wound closely and thoroughly as she cleaned it, and the arrowhead. She had to determine whether she had the ability to control the bleeding and close the wound if they were to remove it tonight, otherwise it would have to wait until tomorrow when Kam's full power would be available to her again.
Berrus comes up behind Shae and the Captain. if we heat up some metal hot enough ye should be able to cauterize it when ye pull that arrowhead, be better than leaving it in there
Shae would look to Berrus. Of course, cauterizing! "Thank you!" She'd hug him. Shae, I don't think any one but you was excited about that suggestion.
She will pull out her own dagger to ready it so she could perform the suggested procedure on the open wounds that would require it. "I'll begin with the 'easier' wounds first. Then we can work together for the captains." Looking back to Berrus, "Someone will have to hold her down," then she'd look to Maxine, "Someone to pull out the arrow." She'd hold up the dagger, "Then I'll clean and seal the wound."
"Of course!" At least this one Maxine should mess up - she was not a true healer, but when you work with or near furnace, you learn a thing or two about first aid. She did all she could to help Shae in her work.
As the Professor went to hand the amulet to Gruk, the grung quickly refused: "If me have stone, tribe will think me stole stone. Tribe will kill, like tribe kill chief. Longkinves return stone to tribe, and Gruk return to tribe." He sounded desperate, not only for his tribe, but for his own place among grung society.
Meanwhile, Shae is prepping everything for the procedure.
For Berrus, Shae, and Maxine, this will be a skill challenge. Each of you get to participate in a way to try and help or prepare the way, before Maxine gives her final medicine check. Depending on the successes and failures, the consequences for the Captain are better or worse. The Medical procedure as a whole has a DC of 20 to be successful without complications. Each successful challenge lowers the DC by 3. If you beat the adjusted DC, the Captain will make a relatively rapid recovery with negligible complications. Fail by less than five, and the captain suffers only minor complications. Fail by more than five but less than eight, the captain suffers significant complications. Fail by more than eight, and the complications will be severe. Each person gets to make a check with a relevant skill, no skills can be used twice. Once all three of you have made your checks, Shae gets to roll for the entire procedure.

To Gruk, he says, “But your old chief is dead at the hands of Koro-arak, and this new chief is the one who convinced the tribe to attack us! Why would we give him the stone? We need to give it to a Grung who would follow peaceful ways and trade with us, not kill us! Who would that chief be if not you?”
The Professor tries to remember what the body looked like that he found the necklace on...maybe that will shed some light on this situation.
Once the flames are hot enough, the professor returns his attention to the wounded Grung. As he tries to remember the corpse that held the talisman, he only remembers the bony fingers around the gem. The size was roughly that of a small humanoid, but whether another adventurer, or a grung, or maybe someone else entirely is impossible to say from the memory of the hand alone.
Gruk's eyes go wide at the professor's suggestion: "Chief of Longknives think me better chief than Koro-arak? Me get killed for thinking like Long-Knives chief. Me red grung, Koro-arak gold grung. Only gold grung can lead tribe. Other grung not follow Gruk, Gruk wrong colour. But chief of long-knives right, Koro-arak not good chief.
