To your shock, the tiny lights are extremely agile, and dodge the flaming sphere with ease. And although Maxine aims her spell well, and catches one of the lights, the ray seems to bounce off, harmlessly. So, not only agile, but also hardy.

Professor, you're unsure. The light made attempts to avoid the flames, and didn't seem much fazed by the heat.
OOC: Yes, you did 1 point of damage. But for metagaming reasons I dislike letting you as a player know the exact damage you've dealt, and instead I'm trying to narrate the effects.

OOC: I'm not sure if Shae means to hold her action, or not, but I'm moving forward, and if necessary I can have her action take place later. I had to delete the above post, because I had forgotten the disadvantage imposed on the first attack by Berrus' Protection, and wanted to avoid the manipulated dice rolls.
Seeing the Professor cast a flaming sphere, both orbs of light float towards the Professor, one of them passing directly through Berrus, seemingly unimpeded. Surprised, the gnome is caught unawares, but Berrus attempts to deflect the first electric jolt. In short succession, the white orb of light discharges, now with easier access to the Professor, free of interfering dwarves. Thanks to Berrus' intervention however, both jolts of electricity miss their target.

Unable to tell if the sphere did anything, but having no other spells that attack magically, the Professor declares to the evil spirit lights, “We are here to see the Horned Lady. Move aside or be destroyed.”
With his left hand, he gestures in a drawing forward motion, pulling the flaming sphere up behind the wisp he attacked before, trying to burn it at least some. With his right hand, he bends the air to his will, thrusting it at the wisp and trying to pin it against the flaming ball.
Bonus action to ram sphere into it from behind: DC 13 Dexterity or 5 Fire Damage (half on a save). Action to use Gust to push the wisp into the flaming sphere: DC 13 Strength or be pushed back 5 feet.

Totally understand—just trying to figure out if it had any effect whatsoever, not an exact amount of damage. It’s just about the only direct magic attack he has, though, so he is going to try again...

The white Orb lazily moves to avoid the flaming sphere from behind, but is immediately pushed against the flaming sphere, unable to evade the wind, and surprised by the sudden gust of air. You don't hear it cry out or otherwise react to the flames, but the light of the orb shifts to an angry red.

Shae would be hugging her tome tightly, eye's going wide and narrowing as she watches the lights dance around their attacks and remain on the offensive. She couldn't quite tell what worked and what didn't. She also didn't know what magic she had available to her with the absence of Kam. Spending too much time contemplating, the warlock would grip her tome tightly, and cry out in frustration. "We just want to do what's right! I'm tired of suffocating in this darkness!" She'd look up to the stars, fighting back tears of frustration. "We need light on our side!"
3. Since something in the area is making it difficult for Shae to call upon Kam and hence her magic, I'm rolling a d20 for every spell she casts (including cantrips). The target number to reach in each case is 8 plus the spell's level. If the rolled number is below this DC, she requires more concentration than usual. The way I'm handling this, is the following: Shae will take a level of exhaustion per three spells she needs to focus on more heavily than usual, up to a maximum of 3 levels of exhaustion. This reflects the mental fatigue and the physical toll that magic without your patron's presence has on you.
One of the orbs is caught up in the radiating light that seems to shine down on a desperate Shae, and seem to be stunned by the divine nature of the attack. Now, both orbs shimmer in a red hue.

If the other orb continues to attack, the Professor will keep both hands engaged in the spells, pulling the ball of Fire forward with his left hand (bonus action) and pushing the wisp against it with his right (action—Gust).
(A creature who ends their turn adjacent to the fire or is hit by the fire as the Professor moves it is subject to the fire damage, but RAW gets a Dexterity Save in either case. I have no idea how the Gust modifies that, so please feel free to apply the appropriate effect/fire damage).
if the other wisp flees, the Professor will move the Flaming Sohere out of the way and use gust to start the recently trapped wisp on its way to retreat with its companion.
