It doesn't take any action to apply inspiration, it's an out of character mechanic that effects in-game workings. See the spoiler for how you use it:
Using Inspiration
If you have inspiration, you can expend it when you make an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. Spending your inspiration gives you advantage on that roll.
Additionally, if you have inspiration, you can reward another player for good roleplaying, clever thinking, or simply doing something exciting in the game. When another player character does something that really contributes to the story in a fun and interesting way, you can give up your inspiration to give that character inspiration.
The three jets of energy lash into the Mist Serpent, causing more holes within the beast. It looks like swiss cheese, and just about still moving. (Mist Serpent 1: 43 damage.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ankor assesses the layout of the battlefield, Moving towards the front with his shield in hand being sure he is within 10ft of his allies so he can ward off one attack (Protection-fighting style class feature) he pulls one of his handaxes that's attached to the chain Tefkae had given him prior and takes aim at Mist Crow #2
Main Attack: 9 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Extra Attack: 23 Damage: 10
Divine Smite For one attack that hits 10 Radiant Damage - Divine Smite
Ankor, for reference in the future divine smite can't be applied to ranged weapon attacks, even if they are thrown. It needs to be a melee attack.
Divine Smite
Starting at 2nd level, when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can expend one spell slot to deal radiant damage to the target, in addition to the weapon’s damage. The extra damage is 2d8 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d8 for each spell level higher than 1st, to a maximum of 5d8. The damage increases by 1d8 if the target is an undead or a fiend, to a maximum of 6d8.
Ankor's axe flies up and back to his hand with the chain, a radiant energy striking the mist crow and shredding it up. Barely a husk of the misty monster remains. (Mist Crow 2: 17 damage.)
Eight-Bit raises the mop defensively, ready to hold off anything that comes into the ship.
The Mist Crows begin to coalesce, spreading their forms out as they swoop towards the group, their form incorporeal as they brush over people within the party. (This doesn't provoke opportunity attacks)
Mist Crow 1's Gaseous Draw vs. Tefkae:15 vs. DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw. Failure:5 necrotic damage, and disadvantage on your next attack roll before the end of the Mist Crow's next turn. Mist Crow 2's Gaseous Draw vs. Zack:16 vs. DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw. Failure:5 necrotic damage, and disadvantage on your next attack roll before the end of the Mist Crow's next turn. Mist Crow 3's Gaseous Draw vs. Cpt. Obaysch:17 vs. DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw. Failure:8 necrotic damage, and disadvantage on your next attack roll before the end of the Mist Crow's next turn.
The mist crows end 10 ft. directly above the party. Zack and Cpt. Obaysch cough and splutter as the air is drawn from their body with some of the water in their system. (Zack: 21/30 HP, Cpt. Obaysch: 4 damage.)
The Mist Serpents slither forward, opening their maws as a swirling dark grey cloud can be seen within. Mist Serpent 1's Bite vs. Ankor:20 vs. AC. Hit:12 magical piercing damage, and make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw on your turn. Mist Serpent 2's Bite vs. Cpt. Obaych:15 vs. AC. Hit:15 magical piercing damage, and make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw on your turn.
Cpt Obaysch draws his blade, slashing it at the snake that attacked him. Sabre vs. Mist Serpent 2:17 vs. AC. Hit:8 slashing damage.
The serpents and the giff are unable to harm each other at this moment, the blade missing the misty form and the fangs unable to penetrate the party.
@poke the thrown handaxe still has the melee property listed on the character sheet that's why I thought it would be fine, but DM rule is final, I'll keep that in mind for now on thanks.

The weakening, even if shrugged off after a moment's time, is enough for Tefkae to prioritize striking the crow above. "Analyzing... Subject Crow... Hit and Run tactics...
