The light more than anything attracted the constructs attention back to the priest. No note of alarm from Tefkae is raised so long as the Priest never screamed out in pain. Rather, they appeared fascinated by the process; even more so upon seeing The Priest unharmed by events. Just as crystalline eyes began glowing a faint blue during the stare, they just as abruptly return to their neutral yellows a moment later.
Tefkae looks to the rest of the group, though her gaze seems to linger on Zack prior to turning back to the captain. "That is unnecessary... But, if that is your prerogative, I do not think any here would object to your presence. In addition, it could be that we may have questions for you along the way." The man hunter admits as much.

Don't worry, it's all monochrome. No one noticed ;-)
"Of course." The Guard Captain agrees. "Let us be away." He takes his blade back from The Priest. "Thank you again, Priest. Don't forget to take rest, your body is getting old and tired after all."
The Priest nods. "May The Light guide your hand in these dark times." He waves off the group as they go with The Guard Captain towards The Scholar's home.
Happy holidays, players! I know this time of year will be busy for most, including myself. Over the next week or two my posts may be a little less frequent than normal. Hope you have a great time, and we'll be back to the usual frequency in the new year.
Ankor takes one last moment inside the church before exiting, There is something familiar about the light, the lanterns, the painting in the Mayor's house, He has a lot of unanswered questions, perhaps the Scholar will be able to fill in the blanks. As the group walks with the Guard Captain, Ankor asks him some questions.
"Captain, Are your men appointed to you or have they all joined of their own accord. From what we learned this town assigns its people their roles."
"How long have you been the captain?
"What other types of attacks have the town had? Is it always the same beasts or have they been getting bigger and stronger as time has gone one?"

Tefkae turns her head just enough to show interest in the answer, but otherwise still be at least somewhat focused on the way ahead. But just as soon as Ankor's question's are answered, the dwarf-sized construct is quick to ask, "In addition, are all of your weaponry and arms passed down? Or reforged by the blacksmith when another is assigned or acquire positions as guards?" As all of that happening, Mr. Pepper hovers well above the group, keeping a closer eye on things as always.

The group leaves the chapel, Mr. Pepper waiting for them as the winged kitty leaps off of the roof to follow the group from a short distance above them, just enough that they are still visible to the tressym in these mists.
"My, aren't we a talkative lot today." The guard captain states as the flurry of questions comes in. "Well, I've been in the position since I took the initiation, a little after I became of age. Best fighter out of all those there, so I took the role of Guard Captain. As for my blade," He looks to the now purified blade, back in its scabbard. "It's the blacksmith's role to supply each Guard Captain with their own blade that can channel The Light to fight away whatever comes endangers our town. Though I must say, the beast you aided us in fighting was much more of a threat than what we normally find coming so close to the town. Normally mistborn monstrosities like that would only be seen by The Hunter."
Travelling through the quiet streets, the group realises they have made it to the scholar's house without meeting a single other soul in town. "Well, I guess we're here already. I suppose I should leave you to it." He turns to leave then stops. "Oh, by the way, I saw your large portly friend with the bulbous face and his round pet around at The Blacksmith's on my way to The Priest's. I guess they were discussing things similar to yourselves. Anyway, if you need me, just ask any of the guards in town. They'll be able to direct you to where I'm patrolling at the time."
Zack goes quiet again. It seems that whenever he's not responding to someone else, he keeps quiet and to himself more often than not. He really is not comfortable with social situations. He keeps looking around as he walks though. It doesn't seem like he's expecting or looking for anything in particular. It's more that he is looking around and taking in the surroundings just for the sake of it.

Feel free to make either an Intelligence (Investigation) or Wisdom (Perception) check. Either/or, but they'll bring different results.
Can I use passive perception because Zack didn't look around for any particular reason? He was looking around due to habit. He does it frequently. He does this whenever he is not talking or thinking about anything in particular.
Ankor listens to the captain, "trial by combat something familiar in this strange place." Unless someone mentions not seeing any people Ankor doesn't seem to notice. "But more concerning is if the hunter would have seen something of that size headed for the town wouldn't they have comeback to warn you or sent message somehow? And how does one contact them while they are out doing their job?
By this time they have reached the scholars house.

For this instance, no. It is for neither routine checking for things, nor a reactionary skill vs. an active check. You can always elect to not make a check.
"The hunter can be gone for a long while without contact." The guard captain explains. "It is part of their role. However, we pray that The Light will guide them back to us, especially if they have been gone for longer than expected." The guard captain straightens the plain tabard. "Well, I shall return to my patrols." He says, headed off into the mists once again, the ring of his armour echoing as he goes into the quiet streets.
(Perception 12): It might be the mists playing tricks on you, but you feel like you missed spotting a house or two along the street on the way back the the scholar's. It might be due to being lost in thought, though...
Zack does the following since that's what his character would do:
Zack furrows his brow. Unsure of what he just saw, or rather what he didn't see. He will slow down, falling to he back of the party to stare at the missing houses longer. If he still isn't sure, he will take a few steps closer to where the houses are, all the while keeping alert of the party so that they don't get too far ahead of him. Once he's sure of what he saw or didn't see, he will use his superior Rogue speed to catch back up with the party.
Victoria is very intrigued with everything she's learned thus far. With everyone asking the right questions, she feels no need to ask anymore. However, Due to the mist mysterious ways she keeps Sailor close as to not lose him.
Reflexively, Tefkae gives a clipped salute to the guardian captain. Once he's well on his way elsewhere however, the momentary 'look' of confusion about the construct gets visibly shaken off. "It would seem that casual traversal throughout the town is not something recommended, judging by the lack of foot travel. Something to potentially ask the scholar among other things."Tefkae said on her way to knocking hard on the scholar's door until either answered or stopped by the others. But without missing a beat she says back to Zack and Victoria, "Humans are usually more social creatures. Is there a reason why you two seem hesitant to speak?"

(Happy new year, folks. Sorry for lack of posts over the holidays, didn't really have much access to a computer to update things.)
The door to the scholar's house creaks open slightly. A frizzy haired female human, a little over five feet tall and wearing a plain sleeping robe, sluggishly looks at the group through a pair of glasses. "Umm... would you mind keeping it down? It's hard to get a proper amount of sleep." She says to the group, her eyes straining to focus as one finds after just waking up.
Behind the scholar, the room appears to be setup as some sort of researcher's nightmare. Books are left out and open on the floor and a couple of spots on tables, as well as dirty crockery and well worn furniture in a state of near collapse.
Zack looks at the messy room beyond the scholar and is reminded of home. Though his own room wasn't nearly as messy, it was still messy enough with random books left open and other books stacked on random parts of his own study table. He reminisces for a bit and feels a kind of empathy for the scholar... or at least, some emotion close enough to that. Empathy was one thing that Zack always did lack.
As soon as Tefkae lays eyes on the messes, they are shaking their head disapprovingly over it. "Affirmative. I will endeavor to 'keep it down', provided you aid us."They look again between the scholar and the woman before them piror to canting their head to the side. "You... are the one designated as 'Scholar', correct? If so, might we come in to continue this discussion? If it helps, we may make ourselves available to further aid you in your research at meetings end."
As Tefkae is talking, the scholar began closing the door, as if working on an automated instinct. There is a pause as she opens the door again, wiping an eye with a finger from behind her glasses. "Wait... who are you guys?" She says sleepily and readjusts her glasses, then her eyes seem to widen, somewhat in shock and also in awe. "Are... are you... travellers from beyond the mists?" She asks with apprehensive excitement.

In that case, I think Perception is more appropriate. Rolling Perception: 11
