Zack listens to everything as he recaps it all out loud but in summary form. Get in with uniforms, find duchess. Proceed with mission. Find target. Improvise escape. Take ship. Got it. The only question I have foe you is, whats the codephrase. She's expecting a delivery.. or atleast someone is. And I'll need to know that to alleviate any difficulties gettign near the dead drop. Aside from that I suppose that means you don't know such a place. I'll keep looking then. I'd like this baby to be a great knocker. Anyways, that's all I can think of. he patted his sword as he said the second to last line. Regardless, Zack would get up to head towards the other two, Nadia and Happy. C'mon you two, lets get to our room. We have other business to attend to and we may as well get to it.
Taking Nadia by the hand and helping her up and letting 'cloudine' get herself up, before looking over his shoulder to Falkas We'll probably be in touch, but we won't need anything else tonight. That and its past midnight, and due to recent events, we like to get real sleep. But we'll do our due dilligence after-all, our lives are on the line if we don't.
Outside of any further conversations, in which case he'd stay to hear them out before asking Alexia to show them all to their room, a single room. Zack not accepting any protestations from either of them as he needed to speak to them both - And once there, he'd make sure the door was locked, he'd wait for almost a full 15 minutes before speaking. Finally dropping his facade, and the weariness came rushing in.
First thing's first...he'd say, starting to whisper. I'm very -not- happy right now. We're in a catch twenty two. By not helping, we lose our only lead, and then the ***** or the bastard who started all this will just restart after the speedbump we put them through and eventually it all starts up again. By helping them, we're probably doing more than just this task. In all likelihood, they're going to take over the town like they were going to with Nightstone. There isn't a 'right' answer here. Because no matter what we do, someone bad gets what they want. Atleast this way we stop one of them. He looked like he wanted to say more but he kept himself tight lipped .. on the off-chance they had some way to hear inside. So I'm sorry for choosing to do this for everyone, but its the.. lesser of two evils, and sometimes there is no 'right' choice. And as I said to the man, somehow I can't see any other way than somehow the duchess here has something to do both with my past and with 'current events.'
Its not all bad though, I got a little bit more information about how things all ended up this way with my past. And don't worry Na-ormus., I'm fine. Everything I've lost hit me like a train all at once, but the scars healing. And don't worry, I'm not bottling it up. But we should sleep in shifts. he holds up two fingers shifts. Just to be safe. I'll take first watch since.. well 'nothing' can be done anyway. In the morning... Nadia and I will practice, and we'll spend the rest of the day.. scouting out possible routes. I didn't have to go inside the castle much, since my squad was mostly trained outside and in real time, instead of in some training grounds. So.. unless anyone has anything else to add I'd say we get some shut eye.
Nadia's eyes finally leave the table to fall upon the lackey the snail had called over, the elf tilting her head a bit at the familiarity of his face, yet quite can't put her finger on as to why it was so. She doesn't think too much on it however, as her attention is snapped back to the snail giving them what other information he could about the defenses of the palace, then to Zack who ran through what they had so far. It was as good of a plan as any right now, only problem looked to be finding a way out of the place once the deed was done. Nadia leaned back in her seat while scenarios began running through her mind of possible outcomes of this whole thing.
She snaps back to reality (oh there goes gravity) when Zack's hand comes into view, shaking her from her thoughts. She takes his hand with a soft smile and gets up from her seat, glad that this meeting was adjourning.
Upon entering the room, Nadia finally is able to release the breath she had been holding in since the beginning of the meeting. Much had been discussed, much needed to be processed and thought of. There was also that underlying bout of paranoia that nibbled at her brain with working with the Zhentarim, thinking that they could totally screw the group over at any given point in time. She looked over to the fighter when he began to speak, already having been anticipating a talk with just them three in private. Subconsciously, her hands begin to undo her braid before slowly weaving one again during his piece, she finishing once he did. She sighs, not in annoyance, but more in exhaustion. The meeting itself had been more mentally taxing than it probably should have.
"Don't be sorry, Zack. It really wasn't an easy decision to make. If anything, we're looking to prevent a plague from the source; from the brain that wanted it done. One town for the whole world, that's... kinda how we need to think about it..." (Ignoring the other towns the Black Network had in the palm of their hand anyway...) "And if it turns out the duchess does have something to do with all of this and the... human experimentation you talked about before, we'll be doing quite the service, I think. Just need to think this whole plan out thoroughly, especially in finding a way out of the palace and to the docks once the deed is done, but I'm sure with the time we have we'll figure out something, yeah?"
A small smile tugged at the corner of her lips when he assured her he was okay, she, of course, having still been worried after that load of information was just dumped on him like a sack of potatoes. Another positive to come out of this arrangement, at least. "I'll be fine with taking the second then,"She looks over to the firbolg(?). "Unless you want it instead, Happy."
'Cloudine' gave Snail one last thankful smile before following after Zack and Nadia. When it came to sharing a room, she doesn't raise any kind of fuss. Not this time, at least, sensing Zack had something to say. Whether she stay indoors or not an evening would be another matter in its entirety. Upon entering the room either way, Cloudine's the only one that appeared still as calm as a cucumber, if albeit confused looking by all the tension visibly leaving her friends.
But that gets brushed away from her face fairly soon, as Cloudine in at least personality returned to looking fully content with the situation. "Third is fine with me, but I do feel you two might've missed something in the meeting that probably should be addressed? Namely this whole taking over the town business. Which, based on what I heard, and maybe I'm thinking on it the wrong way, but this duchess and the Zhents kind of had co-ownership over the town anyways? So, I doubt much will change apart from there being no cult of Asmodingus about, which is really, really bad compared to what you told me of Zhents anyways. At least they ain't going out of their way making plagues, and working with fiends of all things. But, that's not to underplay your concerns. And, if'n you feel particularly worried, we can always come back to sort things out again here." Happy whispered, still keeping up the Cloudine act.
"As far as scouting and so forth go, depending on the distance, I can use my special magics to get in my own way if need be, if not be carried by one of you. Might it be I even talk with those guard dogs ahead of time, and get them friendly enough with us before the big time, ya know? Though, if you two don't want me taking such a risk, I'm fine with just staying out of sight largely in general until its time. Something to sleep on, at the very least. Oh! MIght I even talk with the local animals, and see what they have to say on the subject." Happy admits with a grin before doing their nightly ritual of summoning new berries, and eating the old ones.

Zack half-smiled when Nadia effectively swooned at his touch, he always had enjoyed watching others experience positive emotions, especially if he was the cause, though if he was wrong about why 'gravity' came into play, he was smiling like an idiot for no reason making it hilarious to anyone who wasn't him. Glad that everyone had followed him into the room as intended and no one took any detours or made any arguments. Having said his piece, he looked to the other two in the room to both listen and gauge their reactions. And for the most part he's relieved, seeing that everyone was more or less in agreement, though when happy whispers about 'coming back and correcting it' Zack bolts upright tensely, putting a 'shh' finger over his mouth, his eyebrows raising wide in frustration. Clearly, Happy had spoken aloud something he shouldn't have, at-least in Zack's opinion.
But ultimately he just sighs as it was too late to do anything about it. Maybe Zack was being too cautious, but he doubted it. Happy.. the reason I want us all in one room, is for safety. It's hard to take us out one by one, if we're all in the same place. But if you go to a room by yourself or we all do, then you're just handing yourself to them. I doubt they will try anythign since we're helping them but there's no point in being s... taking unnecessary risks about sleeping. As for your other idea... That's actually brilliant. While I don't want you to get hurt.. if you don't do that we'll all be at greater risk both going in and coming out. So I'd like you to do just that... become a fly or a spider or whatever you can to check it out, but don't be in there so long you'll get caught by an inconveniently timed transformation. Get on the dogs good side if you can without being found out but .. if push comes to shove I can probably kill them with one strike - as much as I wouldn't want to. But yeah, that's a great idea. Nadia and I can scout the outer side, just to help confirm things and on day three, we can convene and share what all we learned. Via DM!
Zack remembers the berries the moment that Happy eats his and scarfs one down before it 'loses its magic' since he hasn't really eaten today. Suggesting Nadia do the same. Eating just one, and handing any spares to Happy. So, as I was saying, we should all sleep in this room for the sake of each-others safety. Nadia and I will train in the morning, and scout the rest of the day.
Happy just gives Zack confused look that only grows moreso with the additional commentary on rooms. He wouldn't have accepted a watch if any personal plans hadn't already been changed by the request. When the tho thought occurs Zack might be a worrywort, he settled on a more lopsided smile, and just listened to the rest without interruption. "Anything that can fly is a bit of a complicated one to do, but... hm... I'll see what I can do. Give me a night to think on it. As far as sleeping in the same room, I don't see why not... well, I do like sleep under the stars, though I imagine it'd be fairly difficult to take a watch away from ya, which I've already somewhat promised to do."
At that, he chuckled and appear to immediately fall asleep on the spot, seated and slumped forward a bit.
The ranger had fallen into silent contemplation when Happy pointed out what they (or maybe just she) missed during the meeting, remembering that the snail did mention the duchess and his group had a sort of 'agreement' regarding their work, even eventually working together until things went sour. Yes, the Zhent's were bad, but not fiend working, plague building, human experimenting bad. Once the cult is removed from the equation, she hoped that things would slowly return back to normal for this town.
She looked to be completely on board with Happy making an effort to befriend the guard dogs as well, hoping he would succeed on that front as that would make exiting a lot easier for them. "While I'm sure you'll be fine, just be careful, yeah? Don't keep trying if they're not budging. Don't wanna have to bail you out of jail or something, haha."
When advised to eat a berry, the elf does so, quickly plopping one in her mouth and chewing slowly while Zack and Happy finished off the conversation, she nodding along with the plan. She can't help the look of bewilderment that crosses her face though when Happy so easily knocks out in front of them, eventually just shrugging and guessing it was... just a firbolg thing? Or maybe he was more tired then he let on. Regardless, before she sets off to sleep, she gives Zack a quick peck on the cheek and heads to bed had he have nothing else to add on.
You all turn in for the night and, with perhaps a bit of unhealthy paranoia, stay up to watch the door for any suspicious activity. You're reward for staying up to watch is several.hours of boredom until you are relieved as nothing occurs over night. As the sun rises you gear people outside starting to go about their normal everyday lives. It's still quite early in the morning but it seems it's time to wake up. What is the plan for the day?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As per the previous night's discussion Happy is more than Happy to call or coax over whatever birds or cats are in the area from their window, if one should be available that very morning. If not, then a disguised Cloudine at least joins the others enroute to their chosen scouting destination, or at least part of the way. As soon as they find some place comfortable and relatively out of sight, they begin the work, speaking with the local animals, and even attempting to charm the more rowdy ones both through magic and treats promised for details about the local area and its people.
Initially, their questions range from interesting or quiet spots around town without a lot of humans, the local animal territories (such as they are), humans that happen to stand out to them (be it good or bad), and where might the find animals that happen or have gone near or in the mansion(castle). They were patient about it this first day, allowing the animals they spoke to, to 'ramble' or detract on their individual whims from time to time, until noon. But eventually, they get back on track, and at designated time discussed with the others far earlier in the morning, meet back up to convey anything of interest, and rest for a while, before its either back to private investigations or pretending to be an ordinary black cat.
The whole time, if not the majority of it, Rillex is bade to stick with either Zack or Nadia, if the two deem him helpful. But if in fear of standing out, what with having a cat with wings with them, the firbolg is more than happy having him tag along. If Happy is ever able to get a hold of a bird of any kind, he asks them if friendly, and again charms them if slightly less so, into being his eyes in the sky. With such in mind, once the spell is cast, he turns into a swol monkey or cat, climbs his way to the top of a roof top, and through their link, observes from afar the bird's flyby over the castle; receiving a play-by-play on the layout visible from the sky, and any word on the so called 'guard dogs'.
Persuasion: 6 plus Guidance: 2. (Don't know how many of these you may or may not need, but here's at least one.)
Performance: 8. (if needed for the other alter egos he pretends as trying to be just a 'part of the scenery)
(OOC: Happy is willing to burn through all 4 1st level spell slots and at least one second level if need be for the whole process over the course of the day. But before using them, he at least tries to talk his little 'ears and eyes' into helping however they can.)
(The spells he uses, if any are Animal Friendship, Beast Bond, Goodberry(if rations or other treats aren't available, or finds a wounded animal), Lesser Restoration(if he encounters a sickly animal)[/spell], Animal Messenger(if he finds urgent details), and disguise self(firbolg trait) in between short rests. I'll say up front that he also mixes up who he disguises himself between Half-Elves, Elves, and Half-Orcs when otherwise not wild-shaped as a Black Cat or Ape(roof tops only)

"unhealthy paranoia" Pff, with the Zhents? no such thing.
Previous Night cont:
Zack nods in agreement with Nadia's response. Yeah, don't take any 'unessecary' risks. Just enough that we have a good idea of the outer walls "from above" how the courtyard looks, and if you can get inside without risking anything too much, that would help. Just enough that we're not going in blind. I only remember the main entrances, and the barracks. Well and the main hall, where everyone gets to meet. But yeah, lets.... by then, Happy had said a few words and collapsed like a narcoleptic. Causing Zack to chuckle for the first time that day, looking to Nadia, just before receiving a hen-peck. Returning it on her shoulder as she was gettign up, before settling in, for an apparently boring night.
Everyone sleeps in their shifts, all receiving a decent chunk of sleep, all while on a full belly of berries. The others wake up to see Zack already up, and halfway done with morning exercises. A thin line of sweat beading down his entire topless body. Forty nine.. fifty.... seeing the others up, he takes the next berry that Happy offers, as he said he'd be doing that daily. And eats it, to avoid eating any of the zhent food. Zack and Nadia would take happy close enough to the castle to begin his work, before finding a spot where they could both practice her sword skills for the next eight hours.
Meeting with Happy to see what he discovered, before starting their own side of the mission. Zack would look for any easily accessible areas that led to good vantage points, trying to get a basic lay of the land. If not possible, he'd take casual glances at the wall structure and surrounding areas, looking for entrances, and possible exits that aren't obvious while acting like someone who had just gotten off work and wanted to rest against walls for a bit, or sit on the ground. he didn't have his actual sword with him, instead, choosing to keep the practice sword to make himself appear much less of a threat. Not even wearing his armor for this outing.
Asking Nadia to play defense for him, where if or when someone started to get suspicious, she would come from around a corner to meet him as if he had been waiting for her all along.
Having normally been the one to wake up first (or second behind Happy had he not stared at her when she slept), Nadia is colored surprised when she sees the fighter already up and roaring to go in the morning (definitely not complaining about the view either). "Really hope you don't expect me to do fifty push-ups, hundred squats, or run a couple miles any time soon, teach." She quips, readying herself up for the day of training ahead (also plopping another berry in her mouth). Although they were going to be using swords and such, the elf is sure to take her bows and quiver with her, for precautionary sake.
With the consecutive eight hours of training a day, Nadia finds that it had really been taking its toll on her body, the elf not really having ever excerted herself to this degree, but it was also a good distraction to all that was running through her head. Positive thinking hadn't been the easiest for her when it came to something like this, though, she did hope some of Zack's optimistic attitude would rub off on her enough for the worry to wash away. She will also gently remind Zack to either show her where the post office was, or direct her on where to go so she could send off the money to the orphanage during their 'down' time, wanting to get the package on its way prior to them putting their plan into action as a 'just in case'.
Nadia played support for Zack while he scoped out the general area, she also getting a gander about it herself, even pointing out small details had he missed them at all. However, she finds herself wanting to be able to help in some other way, being sure to speak to Zack about it for him to be aware of what she plans to do, or stop her had it been a bad idea. Had he agreed, whenever they would find themselves back at the tavern, Nadia would look around to see if there had been any off duty guards she could possibly talk to, using her girlish charm to keep them engaged with her and spill any useful information that might prove to be useful to know (layout of the inside of the palace, guard patrolling schedules, etc), without being too obvious about it (such as asking them to tell her a story about a day they were patrolling, and such, questioning them little by little). She would thank them for talking to her by buying them a cold ale and being on her way, being sure to tell Zack and Happy what she had learned when they convened in their room, had she learned anything at all.
(Haven't read the others yet but will respond to Happys first since it takes the course of the entire day.)
Happy wanders around the city disguised as Cloudine as he looks for various animals to speak to. Though throughout the day he finds he needs to remember to disguise is voice as well as several times his normal voice can be heard coming from Cloudines lips. Throughout the day he comes across several animals that he can talk to. An early bird in the morning chirping outside his window agrees to fly around the city for him, since it would be doing it anyway. All it asks for in return in is for you to speak to a local alley cat to stop harassing it. The cat lives in an alley near the water. Acting as mediator Happy wanders to the River quarter looking for said cat.
There are plenty of strays in the area, much to the benefit of everyone since they keep the rat population down, but it does make finding a specific cat difficult. You are looking for a black and white cat with one eye who leads a gang of strays in the area. With a bit of asking around you finally wander into an alley with several stays lazing about a patch of catnip. Leading the bunch is the alpha stray in charge of this gang of hooligans. With a bit if a heated debate you manage to avoid being mauled by cats and the leader agrees to stop harassing the birds, at least for a time. All it asks for in exchange is some food which you provide in the form of meat rations. The cats agree and on a whim you ask them for information that might be helpful to your cause. They tell you that the dogs in the castle are very aggressive even to people but especially so to cats, that's how he lost the eye. He warns you to be careful around them and not to take them head, but to instead try to out smart them. They are very loyal to their human masters and likely won't be convinced to help you but they are dimwitted and could be tricked.
With a tentative peace between birds and cats secured you return to the bird outside your window who seems ecstatic that it will not have to worry about cats bothering it while it eats crumbs and other food people drop in the market. As promised it offers to fly around the city for you and provide a general lay out of the castle grounds (I'll provide this a bit later). You also disguise yourself as one of the local cats, thinking a monkey would stand out to much. As such you are easily able to get to nearby vantage points to scout the grounds as well. The castle has two sets of walls, and outer wall which contains a garden, training area, and stables. Then there is an inner wall which surrounds the actual palace itself. Security is understandably tight, with all the main entrances heavily guarded. The guard dogs wander the outer courtyard, sniffing for trouble makers. The guards also patrol the inside in groups of three as well as individuals walking on the wall. Two guards stand guard outside the main gate. Eventually you do see a covered wagon approach the gate. The driver of the wagon speaks with the guards for a brief moment before the gate is opened. The cart is led by guards to the stables before you lose sight of it. Its starting to get dark at this point in the day, so you head back to the inn.
Zack and Nadia find a semi quiet place to train, which is in reality an alley between buildings. But no one bothers them and they can get their daily training done without bother.
As they go about investigating you each discover several things throughout the day.
Starting with Zack, leaning against the castle walls causes a few looks to come your way and eventually guards tell you to sod off. With Nadias help you make it seem like you were just waiting for someone but don't really find much along the wall that is of use. But with Nadias help you do think you see a section of wall that looks out of repair on the eastern face. You can't get close enough to check to see if its climbable before being chased away by guards however. As you wander around town however you remember something about the sewers of the city connecting to the castle. However you don't remember where the access tunnel is though you do remember rumors of dangerous creatures living below the city
Nadia tries to chat up a guard who is off duty at the tavern and, while he is more than willing to talk to a pretty elf, whenever the conversation turns to his work he clams up and goes tight lipped. However you did over hear him mention getting off work not too long ago, it's around 8pm now.
Eventually the day is over and you all meet in your room to discuss.
Zack shares his findings with the group just to increase all their knowledge, intending to, on the third day, consolidate their accumulated findings to solidify their plans. Zack lets Nadia know they'll go to the P.O. Box in the morning, before they start training once more. Repeating the watches of the night before, and only eating Happy's berries.
In the morning, he would speak with Alexia or the Snail if possible, asking what types of creatures might lurk in the sewers, just in case, and to increase their choices.
After which, Zack would take Nadia to the P.O. Box, and help her settle her needs there. After which, they would train once more, to make sure her skills remained sharp, and her body continued to change. Commenting on how proud he was, and that her already nice figure was chiseling itself out as they finally reached 10 days of training.
This time, Zack would have the pair split up, Zack trying to find a high place near enough to the walls to gain some vantage, such as a church steeple, a clock tower, etc. While doing so, he would keep an eye out for manholes to access the sewer with to increase options. If the Snail/Alexia couldn't or wouldn't provide info on the sewers, whenever he saw someone who looked potentially like a laborer or potential sewer worker/construction man/woman, etc he would ask them instead, explaining that he might consider taking some of the creatures out, which would make it safer for them.
And lastly, Zack would keep an eye on the watches, where they patrolled outside the walls, and when they changed before heading back for the night.
That night Nadia would admit to finding out little to nothing when she spoke with the guard, only giving them the small tidbit of him getting off work around the time they returned to the tavern. Maybe it would be useful to know for the future, she wasn't too sure, but every little bit would count. She tells the others that she'll try to get more information of off duty guards as the days go by prior to execution day, hoping to get something useful out of her attempts.
After sending off her package to Julkoun, she thanks Zack with a hug and a kiss before they head off to start training again. She seems to be in higher spirits during their session this time (and the following days after), his praise further invigorating her to do better.
When the two split off, Nadia does as she said she would do and head to some bars and taverns to locate a few off duty guards willing to talk to a cute elven girl looking for some company and wanting to hear stories of the strong, manly guards protecting them and the city. Had she found any particular one easy and willing to talk to, she would try and squeeze whatever information she could out them (trying to see if maybe they knew of the cult as well if possible). Had she not, she would continue on until it got to be about time to reconvene in their room and discuss what they found out that day.
Happy is quiet during the meetings apart from sharing his side of things. Although in noticing Zack continue to be wary of any meals, he resolved to see about curing the man's worry the following evening by ordering and checking the food. He would even go so far as consume it, if safe enough. As well as go the extra mile of further purifying any meal and drink... albeit, at the cost of any alcohol losing its main draw.
Before the breaks away the following morning, Happy humbly requests some minor help of Nadia and Zack. As they could move around town more without attracting too much attention, the firbolg requests if they could go about purchasing a few extra flasks of holy water. That, and he lacked the coin, he readily admits with a sheepish chuckle. He elaborates if pressed, but doesn't think to otherwise; likely resulting in their believing to be preparations for any fiends in the manor. He also asks the Snail's go-to main about handling the sell of his carriage that day in exchange for 35% cut of the profit. Or at least, make the arrangement to have it done over the course of the day, as again, Happy apologize, but had too many things as is to finish up.
With all those morning issues settled, and the gang largely split up for the remainder of the day, Happy went to go speak with his "contacts" in the city about the sewer system in Cloudine's disguise again. While navigating the touchy subject of rats actually managing to slip the grasp of any cats in the past, he asked if any have been seen or chased into the sewer, confirming at least that much. Or, if any of the cats themselves have found themselves or creatures they knew braving it. If they have anything on the 'dangers' said to lurk too, these he rewards with whatever lavish fish dish he was able to secure from the Inn.
Finally, Ash, the leader of the cat gang, is asked the difficult question of bravery. For his next one was that if the cats would be willing to distract the dogs at his signal the following the day. It would mean working with the birds as far as signal goes, but if all went well, it'd be a chance to get back at the dogs a little for taking the eye.
Persuasion: 11, if with advantage 20. (And some Guidance, just in case 2.
If all went well, Happy's next order of business is to sneakily make his way down into the sewers as a rat or cockroach, and seek out the sewer locals (be they animals or kobold's) aid in grabbing intail on both a relatively safe path to the castle from the sewers(or presumably when speaking to beast, the place where there's a lot of trash/very, very clean), the dangers below, and any noteable strange things that come from the area. If dealing with sewer kobolds or goblins however, any outliers he can try to talk to, he tries to work out a deal of safe passage and or help with the assault on the castle. But in exchange, they'd get to loot the place SO LONG as they don't hurt anyone actively trying to kill them.
The evening the group are to reconvene, Happy discusses the ritual he had in mind for Nadia's sake. As part of the process, the each would take swigg from the flask, and elvish, he would tell a tale of elvish transition from who they were to who they are now, of the trance, passing seasons, and then some. Towards the end of it, the remaining contents are a shiny and golden hue that he bids her consume the last of it; signaling her acceptance of all the responsibility that was to come in her future.
After which, a tired Happy could not have longed for sleep more... yet, there was the one final project. And so it was that, with Rillex permission, and a clever use of wild shaping and Magic, the two were to do one last flyby over the castle under the cover of night skies, and eventually find some place safe to land beyond the walls. From there, it was Jolly's intent to work with Rillex observing the comings and goings of both dogs and people. If possible/if time was on their side, maybe even scope out some of the interior as just a spider and Tressym pair.
They only stay in for a couple of minutes, if even that, before absconding back to the Inn for an overdue long rest and fresh berries being made.
(Assuming you need the stealth rolls for that last part, here goes!)
Happy Rat: 27. Rillex: 25.
And perception for anything they see: HR: 22. (has dark vision) Rillex: 16. (has keen senses and detect invisibility and poison)
If Investigation is also needed: HR: 2.

Zack, when trying to approach the Snail for information he waves you off, asking you to talk to Falkas instead. Falkas nods and says Aye, the sewers have a bit of a crock problem. Shouldn't be too difficult to get passed if you're light footed enough. When the day comes I can lead you though the sewers if you wish, or you can clear them out before hand. Either way the sewers will lead you right into the palace so you'll want to be quiet as you get closer.
Whenever Zack finishes talking to Falkas he goes about his investigation. Unfortunately you do not find high ground that you are able to access without sneaking but you still get a good enough view of the patrols to determine that the change of the guard is around 7pm. Once the sun sets they light torches around the wall to keep it lit and secuirty looks tight. Also through your investigation find several sewage access points throughoutthe city, though most are located near the dock ward.
Nadia mean while does her best to charm and off duty guard but her excitement and eagerness to learn information backfires on her. The off duty guard members clearly become suspicious of the elf who, for the second day in a row,hm has been accosting them for sensitive information. One looms like he is ready to get up to try to interrogated Nadia before she feels a hand on her arm dragging her around a corner and out the back of the pub. Dammit girl you're not cut out for this! Those guards are going to report this back to their men. They'll be on alert for some kind of intrusion now. The speaker in Falkas who is pulling Nadia around different alleys hoping to lose the guard. Eventually he stops and let's her go saying Maybe you should stick to waiting in the inn for now. They know your face and will be on alert. Falkas waits for any response before walking away shaking his head and muttering something about amateurs.
Lastly Happy, with a bit of sweet talk he convinces the cats to go along with his plan. They will provide a distraction to the guard dogs and get a bit if revenge on their own. They also warn about the sewers, saying large monsters live there and more than a few adventurous cat had been eaten while down there. perhaps happy reconsidered going to the sewer but if not he would fond the nearest entrance and start to try and explore and look for who or whatever lived there, only to be chased out by an angry crocodile that had no interest in speaking. Unfortunately he does not find a clear path to the palace but seeing the crocodile confirmed the danger below.
Lastly Happy attempts to join Rillex on a flyby of the castle. At night the Tressym is hard to see so sneaking was easy enough. The guards seem to light the walls with torches so the grounds themselves were well lit in most places albeit with plenty of shadowy corners to hide in. The dogs patrolled with pairs of humans covering most of the outer wall. There are of course gaps in the patrols that one could take advantage of but it seemed the dogs were sniffing every which way and on high alert. Happy also notices that it seems like there are more guards on duty than there were the precious night or even this morning, its possible something tipped them off to danger. Rillex finds a safe place to land where spider Happy can crawl inside the palace. You ene up inside a tower, which appears to be used for storage. There is a lot of old furniture and items covered in white sheets. Dust and cobwebs are everywhere and the room is dark. It's clear no one comes here to clean let alone guard it. You think about pressing forward but don't think you could make it back to Rillex in time so have to leave shortly thereafter.
Finally everyone makes it back to the inn after a 2nd day of investigation.
Happy had only reconsidered for a moment before ultimately following through on his adventure into the deep and dank. The mission was too important; and he, confident enough in his own escape artist skills, could not fail his newfound friends with over caution. Which is why when faced with angry crocodiles in the sewers, retreat had only been temporarily. Eventually, through some charm to buy time to actualy get a word in the second time around, he convinces the gator to at least mull over his request about passage through the sewers unmolested by them. He even sweatens the deal not just with some more of his meat rations being torn into, but also assuring that -- if possible -- Geoffrey and friends would be would be helped on getting inside their destination. (See discord about rolls)
Then from there, any croc that came would have their pick of humans. And while the thought of innocent laborers -- the maids, butlers, cooks, and so forth -- getting caught up in the mess did cross the Firbolg's mind, he could only assuage himself with the hope Chauntae or Tymora might guide them to safety. That, or he would cross the uncorrupted ones first, and convince them to take their leave.
Later on in the evening, if Nadia didn't wind up confessing, Happy is sure to alert the group about the visible changes to the grounds, as well as the ritual for Nadia. "Whenever we hit, it will have to be before late int he evening. That is, if we're to take the sewer route, which I did promise some gator friends we would do so. I'll need to talk with some other animal friends I've made in the morning. But, if all goes well, the people in the courtyard and on the walls aughta be plenty distracted by the time we come in from the bottom. At least for a spell. Somethin for ya'll to sleep on, if nothing else. Just let me know by morning.. Oh, and here this batch of berries. Hopefully we won't need'em come the morrow, but can never be too sure."

The night before, when Happy brought up the prospect of doing some sort of 'Coming of Age' ritual involving her, she listened with intent. It brought forth a memory of her father having spoken to her about something like it prior, though the details of what that ceremony entailed were lost within her years of hardships. While she was unsure if it was the one she would have originally participated in, she didn't have any qualms in doing it when the time came.
However now, whatever high spirits she had that day drained out of her faster than water from a broken faucet once she realized just how badly she ****ed up. She just made this whole operation harder from her little-- no-- big misstep alone. The ranger had been glad that Falkas had been there to bail her out before the guards could interrogate her, but she can't help the burning at the tips of her ears when he chides her on the fact she made a huge mistake. It wasn't like she didn't know it already, and it didn't help that he was just adding more salt to the wound. I got too carried away... I just wanted to be helpful somehow...She bites the bottom of her lip, a pitiful, apologetic look crossing her face. "Maybe you're right..." She says to herself quietly. Her expression doesn't really change, but she takes a breath and digs in her bag to pull out some coin and hands it to the half-elf. "Since they know my face, I can't exactly do this myself since I'm sure they would just grow more suspicious if they see me get these items, but... can you buy me some make-up? And some other things... maybe a mask, just in case."
Had he complied, she would simply thank him, then turn and head back to the River Shining and wait in the room for the other two. Once they gathered, Nadia would admit to her failures immediately with a head hung in shame, and apologizes for making this mission harder than it already was. "I'll head here after training to not stir up any more trouble than I already have." From then on, the elf remains quiet and merely listens to what findings the other two had come out with after their day of investigating and recon.
Earlier in the day, he would quite happily return the affections, regardless of any looks they might get for their PDA, it felt .. nice sharing such things, for multiple reasons, and he would be lying if he didn't enjoy the slightly envious looks from some of the population it likely drew, but mostly he just enjoyed the act and the surrounding sensations. Nodding in response to her thanks, and responding properly! He was glad that she seemed to be gaining confidence in herself with her skills - he was proud to see her showing confidence, when she normally would look down, or away about things. He liked the shyness but it had its place.
Zack wasn't as happy with the days results as he could be, but there was only so much he could do with his particular skills. It seemed that Happy was having a significantly productive time. He had noted all the possible locations that the sewer could be accessed. The one thing he didn't like the idea of was the limited exit points the sewer would offer. Regardless it seemed to him like options were becoming available. When everyone gathered together, and shared information, he would nod at Happy's revelations. So just to be clear, we need to do this mid-day? or sooner? If so I actually like that idea. Because its the last time of day they'd expect it, and the duchess will most likely be somewhere more obvious. Also.. did anything look burnable? The more distractions we have, the better, it'll sow more confusion if they think they're facing a larger enemy than they really are, and reduce the number of potential enemies we'll have to deal with. Hopefully something far away but visible so its not likely to cause too much harm, too. he also seemed heartened that the druid had.. somehow managed to get some of the sewer beasts on their side apparently.
Eventually Nadia begins to speak, and Zacks expression goes flat. He allows her to say everything she needs to, as some things may change the context of other things, but by the end of it, it seems it wouldn't. Well, first off, I had no intention of doing training tomorrow. I need us all to have as much energy as possible for what's coming up. Secondly... he says, flicking her forehead, somewhat hard but not enough to hurt. Stop that. Shit happens. Besides, you're not thinking of the potential positive here. Now they will think some elf is up to something, meaning all the guards will be on the lookout for an elf. Your skin tone isn't that of most elves.. you're not 'fair' as they say.. or basically super-pale. With a single hood to cover your ears, you'd pass for a chultan human.. tan skin, etc. And neither Happy, nor myself are elves so... problem solved. Just means you'll be cooped up in the room for a bit. But not for long. I'll go pick your armor up in the morning, swing by a clothier for a decent hood that will match your armor... or compliment it.
And most of our trip will be underground, as it seems the sewer is our ticket. Doesn't mean it'll be our way out though. So enough of that negativity crap. Atleast when it's not warranted. And don't worry Happy, I'll pick you up some holy water. If they even still sell it here .. considering. Also.. Happy.. didn't you say these berries healed us if they were eaten? is it possible to stick them in your mouth ahead of time, and then... when you take a bad enough hit, just.. *chomp* down on it? (Dm?)
Once all answers were given, he'd suggest they all get some rest, though, tonight he would stay closer to Nadia, if only to provide proximity-comfort. (and because he wanted to)

First thing's first... he'd say, starting to whisper.

She snaps back to reality
(oh there goes gravity)when Zack's hand comes into view, shaking her from her thoughts. She takes his hand with a soft smile and gets up from her seat, glad that this meeting was adjourning.Upon entering the room, Nadia finally is able to release the breath she had been holding in since the beginning of the meeting.
"I'll be fine with taking the second then," She looks over to the firbolg(?).

(we can proceed to morning! or.. watches.. depending on what you have planned - Already did my perception check.)
Occassional Dungeon Master.

Occassional Dungeon Master.
Having normally been the one to wake up first (or second behind Happy
had he not stared at her when she slept), Nadia is colored surprised when she sees the fighter already up and roaring to go in the morning(definitely not complaining about the view either).
Occassional Dungeon Master.

I just wanted to be helpful somehow... She bites the bottom of her lip, a pitiful, apologetic look crossing her face.
