You all start sneaking your way up towards the keep, the fog providing you most of the cover needed toget close which proved useful in this stretch of otherwise wide open swamp. Still, heavy armor means heavy footfalls and clanking about and despite your efforts theres little you can do to stop this. Despite that however you manage to make it to the outer stone wall. As you approach you hear one of the guards talking to someone. His conversation comes to a halt as he exclaims Wait, you hear something? I didn't hear anything. Sounded like footsteps. Lizardfolk maybe? Or some wandering creature? The guard approaches the edge of the wall and looks about but doesn't think to look straight down. It's probably nothing Gerard, come on lets get back to the rounds. The guard seems to hesitate for a moment but he rejoins his friend and soon both men walk off. You are now all pressed firmly up against the outer stone wall. The main entrance is around the corner, facing south. You are on the western wall.
Zack kept his lips sealed as the discussion overhead was had, and made sure not to move a muscle during the exchange. Waiting patiently for them to pass or discover the group to help decide the next course of action. As the pair above finally leave -one less willingly than the other- he relaxes. And waits a few additional seconds to allow the guards to willingly walk out of earshot, assuming they did. Before tapping whomever was nearest and motioning towards the southern side, and slowly, and meticulously moving that direction, keeping an eye out for guards at the front, and alerting the others, via tapping on their shoulders and making the proper number of fingers appear to indicate.
If no one was there, he'd proceed to it and carefully open it.
If however there were guards that were visible, he'd ready his bluff from earlier about being sent by the 'fake' duchess to check on the 'real' duchess, but that they had been waylaid by lizardfolk and that they had been forced to sneak in lest they bring the 'lizardfolk forces' to the place.
( will give others a chance to respond but there are guards on the wall by the front gate. So go ahead and make deception roll and type what you say to them when you get a chance)
Rollo keeps his spot at the other end of the line, moving as slowly as he can to try and minimize the noise that his silvery plate makes as he moves. When they stop he pulls a javelin from his pack and holds it in a causal off hand grip, ready to step out from the wall when Zack makes his precense known.

Zack would let the others know there were X guards ahead of them, however many he could see. Before telling them to Ready some kind of attack they could do, without making it obvious they were about to attack, even if it was just a punch. He himself sets his sword slowly into the muck of the swamp, and approached 'unarmed' once everyone was 'ready.'
He broke stealth himself, and let out a gasp as if he were relieved to be there. Finally we made it here. I am here from daggerford on the duchess orders to check on the prisoner. But on the way here we were attacked by some lizard people, so we were forced to sneak our way up here. Is Gerard here? I was told to speak with him upon arrival. Come on you all, we're safe now, and I'm confident we lost their trail. the last part obviously said towards Nadia and Co, to get them to show themselves. However, I would still be on alert, there was a force the size of a platoon when we encountered them. he says to the gatewatcher(s). Making sure that any wounds he bore were as visible as possible to better lend credence to his story.
The two guards on the wall appear to be startled when they hear Zack, they clearly were not expecting anyone and almost immediately crossbows are aimed Zacks direction. The two listen to Zacks story before one of them speaks up. Aye he's on duty, but why would you be directed to him? Surely you would have been sent to see the Captain if you're truly from Daggerford. You have any sort of proof you are who you say you are?
Claire attempts to [Help] Zack by backing up his story, opening with a scoff. "Proof? What do you want, a letter? Signed missive? I trust you're smart enough to know how compromising it would be if such a parcel fell into the wrong hands, considering the situation... Now, in case you've misunderstood, we are operating on direct orders from the duchess. If she wished us to speak to the captain she would have said so, but alas, twas not the case, and neither is it our place to question the duchess' intentions."

Despite the assistance of Claire the guards don't lower their weapons. Not buying it. Duchess wouldn't know the names of us lowley guards let alone send a delegation to speak to us. I'm not sure who you are but this is private property. On the orders of Baroness Wynne Cromm I am authorized to respond with lethal force if you do not turn around and go back the way you came!
Who the Duchess does and doesn't know is her business. Nor are we a 'delegation.' We are here to check on the health of the person I've already mentioned twice. And should you even so much as raise a middle finger in our direction, what the Duchess does with you after that is something I'd rather not imagine. Though it's likely to end poorly for you either way... he says, imagining that the real duchess won't exactly be 'forgiving' of her captors. This is your final warning. Let us pass, and move - Or you will be moved.

The two men look to each other and then back to you. I tried to warn you. He says as he fires his crossbow at Zack. The other guard on the wall grabs a whistle from around his neck and blows, the sound resonating trough the keep and alerting the entire garrison that there's a threat. Zack, ready for this to go downhill, easily moves out of the way of the incoming bolt which lands uselessly in the muck at his feet.
Initiatives are as follows: Nadia, V1,V4, V3, Zack, V2, Rollo, V5, Claire, V6.
Only V1 and V2 are on the map at this time, the others will be here by the end of their turns. The enemies are on top of the wall 15ft ahead of you and 30ft up. Enemies on the wall have three quarters cover from the battlements. Map will have to wait until a couple days as I won't have time to make it until then.
Nadia hisses under her breath when the plan ultimately fails, having thought they played it well enough. The elf lifts up her bow and arrow and tries to take a shot at the man that blew the whistle, though doubtful that they would hit.

She then backs up a bit to keep herself at a distance from any guards that may come to surround them on the ground.
Nadias first arrow strikes the man's arm while the second breaks against the stone wall. You hear a cry of Ah ****! ***** shot me! The man pulls the arrow out of his arm and draws his crossbow, aiming it at Nadia in hopes of returning the favor. Fortunately for Nadia the bolt is off target and lands in the mud nearby. You all can hear the shouts of two more guards on the wall as they approach and draw their crossbows. What's going on? Shit intruders!
Zack had been trying his best at subterfuge, but it just never seemed to work out. He was always missing one or two key pieces of info, or at least didn't remember it in the moment. The moment the man had shot at his foot, the blade appeared in his hand as if it had always been there. No. I warned you. he said confidently before adding You didn't have to die today bud... he says with a legitimately disappointed look as he brings up his blade, and throwing it at the guy.
Zacks sword gets tossed through the air in a desperate attempt to strike one of the guards, the blade glowing blue with fire and causing quite a spectacle. Unfortunately the heavy sword strikes hard against the stone wall before falling down into the muck. The guard decides to return fire at Zack with his crossbow, but his aim is off and the bolt flies off into the distance.
Rollo decides that he's probably not going to hit anyone with a javelin from his position and instead he calls down Tyr's firey vengeance on the guard with the whistle. sacred flame
