Torsus rolls the trinket or jewelry in his hand as he looks over it. Running his thumb across the wood and metal, looking inside the interior of the band as well as the exterior, scanning it inside and out for any indicators as to whom it might belong. Odds are it belongs to one of the children that that female tree, Lifferlas was with, or perhaps one of the gardeners or acolytes. he thought to himself as he moved forward, opening his mind to any person within thirty feet of him as he circled the abbey mentally speaking to all.. Has anyone lost a bracelet while tending to the flowerbed? If so, please 'think' back to me as such.
He rounded the entire abbey mentally repeating that message, until he either got an affirmative or a negative.
Narz puts a hand on chest and partway bows to Naxene. "I shall indeed then, with of course your permission, make more notes and copies. But, that should at least not be an immediate problem; especially in the event that regular updates aren't necessary." He then looks for a place to settle in nearby to begin making copies in earnest.
Although before getting to into that, as he knew it might take a good hour or so to be thorough, a note is written up and passed along to Spaz. Aeyd is taken aback at Shalvus' sudden choking, the elf moving quickly nearby in the case she needed to perform a Heimlich maneuver on him or not. She relaxes, though, when she sees him recover. There was a relieved smile on her lips up until he spoke of the animals, the smile slowly fading when she gets the sense of dishonesty from the shepherd.
"Is that so...?"She asks, dark brown eyes eyeing the settlement walls. "That's... hard to believe..." Her brows furrow when she returns her gaze onto Shalvus, a frown apparent on her face. "As... thoughtful as that is... I think these walls are strong enough to keep some wolves out of this place. I could believe you were simply making sure none got out, but... You're lying, aren't you? Torsus you initially get no reply but instead several people look shocked and look around to see who's intruding on their thoughts. Eventually you get a couple meek "No's" before walking around the abbey. Looking at the bracelet it definitely looks like it was meant to fit a child or perhaps someone with child like proportions. (Referring to the animals being kept in the middle of town) "So I'm not sure if you could even see them from where you've been walking. Torsus cleared his throat in three long huffs before proceeding as he looked up to the taller man before saying with genuine confusion Hmm.. but I thought people of faith were used to hearing.. in their heads... Bah, whatever. But I shall not apologize for taking the fastest route to my destination, and the most efficient. Why walk and speak to one or two at a time when I can simply speak to many simultaneously, to quickly find a solution to my problem, I say.. But yes, yes, a bracelet .. I found it in one of the plants nearby.. or rather in the plants pot, so to say. I do not know if this trinket is of any value, though I'm sure to the owner it may or may not mean the world depending on the circumstances around it. Such as a fathers final gift before he was never seen again, lost to some war.. for example.
The woman turns to acknowledge you and says Yes, I just noticed it a little while ago. I saw you with Claire at the Abbey earlier didn't I? Names Zi Liang. If you're willing to help I'll gladly take it, someone around here needs to care about more than just plants and entertaining the kids. One of the druids intersects Hey hey, we didn't say we didn't care. Yeah! The female Druid cuts in. Just that it could wait. Lifferlas can't always keep up with the kids and we're tired as well ya know. But fine don't give us that look, we'll help. Show us the hole in the wall. Rollo make an athletics check if you're going to help with repairs. Also if you leave the Inn Spaz shows up with a note, please see Nars post in regards two posts ago.
Narz:
You're able to continue your work without interruption this time as Spaz does your bidding. (Please just write what you report to the Abbot. I'm considering you're little adventure finished and will reconvene shortly.)
Cherri:
Shalvus doesn't seem to change his tune as he walks off to another pen to take care of animals there. You end up heading heading back to the Abbey to report your findings. Before that however Spaz flys to you and displays a note (see Narz post 2 posts earlier)
(Just post whatever you want to say to the Abbot. I'll consider your little adventure here finished after that and we'll reconvene with everyone soon.)
Claire:
You wander the walls for a while longer before stopping to take in the view of the fields. It is quite impressive to be sure and you're certain it's even more impressive to behold. While staring out to the field Spaz flies to you from the center of town bearing a note.(please see Narzs post in regards, 2 posts prior.) You wait around a little longer before heading back to the abbey for the sermon. (Will let the sermon be where we all reconvene so will take care of that in another post. Consider you're little adventure finished.)
Torsus
The Abbot sighs. Yes well, most of the people here don't here voices in their head I would wager. I simply as you to be more considerate in the future. Now, that bracelet. I'm pretty sure thats Sevembras. Shes the halfing druid who mans the shop by the main gate. I would assume she probably dropped it when she was rolling around in my petunias. I'm sure she'd be happy to get it back. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a sermon to prepare.

Narz is very much wearing a satisfied smile after completing all the note taking. As the sense of normalcy became echoes in the ensuing moments, a small, disatisfied sigh slipped out. Then without another word, the notes are carefully packed and secured both by mundane means[backpack] and magical[bag of holding], before the hobgoblin made to leave the library. It some ways it might've been miscontrued as rude to not say goodbye at the very least to his fellow researcher. But given the importance of their work, the disturbances had to be kept at a minimum, or as far as Narz was concerned.
This time around he personally asks for directions to the Abbot, and if upon finding him he sees Torsus too, he waves politely on approach. "ey there buds. If you don't mind a minor inconvience of an interruption from yours truly, I came to report that Madame Naxene still has some research of her own to complete. But following my assistance, she has made some progress, and intends to reach out to a few others to solidfy what I understand to be a burgeoning breakthrough in untangling the root cause of the recent giant activities." He says to the Abbot, then looks to Torsus. "She also mentioned a possibility, with an understanding and intent of it being focused on the previously mentioned subject, a job that we as a group might be interested in following up on beyond. More than likely beyond the bounds of these walls, and entailing a more hands on approach, once she's completed her research. Until then, I do have some notes that would like to share among our fellows that should improve our ability to identify combat certain tactics and techniques of the giant." He adds, sounding almost excited and proud of himself.

Torsus tut-tuts at the abbots warning but doesn't feel like arguing. Torsus liked his peace of mind. And knowing whom it belonged to, he could take it there in the morning. The halfling was clearly not missing it much, but he had no intention of keeping it. And why do today what you can put off till tomorrow? For now, To avoid a game of 'phone tag' and after having gotten spazzy boys note he settles in to wait for the others.
Just before entering the abbey, Aeyd receives Narz note from Spaz and reads it over. "Glad I'm already here,"She hums, pleased. "Thank you, Spaz."The monk gives them a pat on the head (if allowed) and moves forward to report her findings to the abbot.
"Shalvus claims to be taking night strolls around the walls to clear his mind, and also to watch the animals in case wolves try to attack them. I... found this incredibly hard to believe. The walls of this town are very strong, and I have my doubts that a pack of wolves could breech them and make their way to the middle of the town where the animal pens are without any notification. When confronted with his blatant lie, he merely brushed me off and kept stating he took the walks around the walls to clear his mind and watch the animals and that was it." She pauses with a sigh. "I could not gain anymore information than that. I would try to keep a close eye on him from here on out. His dishonesty with me has me... questioning his true intentions... But, take that for what you will." The monk gives a nod of her head.
Had there been anything else the abbot questioned, she would answer accordingly, otherwise she would wait patiently for the others that weren't there yet for Narz's findings.

Rollo spends most of the rest of the day helping make repairs on the wall. The druids leave most of the heavy lifting to you which you do well enough on your own anyway. As pieces of stone are moves into place the twins use their magic to mend the stone back onto the wall. Its a slow process but it works and takes you until sunset before the twins finally call it. Well, that will have to do for now. Another day like that and it'll be good as new. Thanks for the help stranger.
The rest of you meanwhile gather in the Abbey to report to the Abbot however the Abbot waves off your reports for now saying that he has his duties to attend to first and promises to meet with you after the evening service. You can see that several people have started to gather in the Abbey, awaiting prayer services. Several hundred people pack themselves in and talk lowly amongst themselves while waiting for services to begin while those who can't fit head upstairs to watch from the pews above. You can either join or not but either way it seems you are stuck waiting for the Abbot to finish his service.
The actual service isn't terribly long. It starts with the Abbot asking for everyone to silence and offer an opening prayer. The entire Abbey falls silent, most lower their heads while others look up to a statue of Chauntea in the center dias and pray silently. After about a minute of silence the Abbot begins speaking, first about the work that's being done on the farm, saying that the farmers are the blessed workers of their goddess and through their hard work their goddess spreads her influence to the world. Then begins speak on rumors that have spread about disease in the south. He calls the disease "the curse of Talona" (religion checks for anyone interested) but assures everyone that Chauntea will protect them.
The enemies of Great Mother spread in the south, bringing death and misery to the fields and those who work them. While this holy space would be protected by our holy mother, in those smaller communities her influence is less direct. As such, this is why Clerics have been called upon and sent to these lands, to bring Chaunteas protection to the front lines of this attack of pestilence. But as some of you may know, our Ladys divine favor works in odd ways, a statement true for most deities to be sure. In my prayers and meditations I have seen a light, a shining beacon if you will, surrounded by this sea of death and rot. In my dreams this beacons light quickly spreads and burns away the stink of disease from these lands. I believe this to be a divine sign that our clerics shall wipe clean the stain of Talona on the people of Daggerford and their surrounding lands. So rest east my friends, in knowing that Talonas influence will soon be purged from our lives.
The Abbot continues for a little longer, briefly touching on the concern of giants, ensuring the guard is dedicated to protecting the settlement and reassuring people that the goblins in town were of a goodly nature and to treat them with the kindness and friendship they would offer anyone else. Theres another silent prayer and soon the service seems over, only 30 minutes after it began. The people begin to clear out just as Rollo arrives to report in. The Abbot waves for you all to follow him to his office.
You all make your respective reports to the Abbot and he listens to them without comment until you've all had a turn to speak. He pauses briefly before finally speaking up. I see. Well, Claire, Rollo, allow me to start with thanking you. I guess Zi is right, a breach like that shouldn't have gone this long without being reported. Good work finding it Claire, and Rollo thank you for helping get the repairs started in a timely fashion. I also ask you please forgive Captain Stormblades behavior. He's normally well behaved I assure you but I will speak to him personally about this incident. As for you Torsus, It seems our north side is secure based on your report which is good. This will help us know where to focus our defenses. With walls like ours its easy for everything to get spread to this. With that the information Narz and Lady Naxene collected I believe we will be ready for any attack. I would ask that you continue to help with the repairs Rollo, and if any of you have recommendations for the towns defense I would hear them now.
The Abbot waits to hear recommendations if you have any and attentively writes a list. It seems he's taking your advise pretty seriously in this matter. When you are finished he nods and says Thank you. Now, I must address this information about Shalvus. This is distressing to say the least. I too find it hard to believe that story, wolves have never breached our walls, and even they did slip through the cracks someone would surely notice. Perhaps you can be my eyes and ears in this matter? Just keep an eye on him for now, see if you notice any suspicious behavior. We've enough outside threats and I don't need trouble inside my walls. But please be discreet, I do not wish to cause undue worry.
If only as a matter courtesy seeing as his faith lied elsewhere, Narz at least excused himself from joining in the service. As he waits outside for its conclusion, or at the very least by the doors, the hobgoblin devotes his time going over battle strategies with his Worg companion. Even if his more bestial compatriot wasn't expected to fight directly under most circumstances, caution was a virtue the pair tended to value ever since the "the incident".
Eventually, it is time to reenter the building, if albeit alongside Rollo once the man at last arrives on the scene. Which Narz has no complaint regarding it. Just one look at the man and any lingering evidence of his hardwork on his clothes said enough to the hobgoblin. When it at last came to deliver the various reports, both Narz and a shoulder roosting Spaz are at full attention throughout much of it. It takes him a bit to speak once offered a chance, as there'd been much to process. His brows only really unfurrow once at least one or two others voice some recommendations or the opposite before he finally stops idly combing his beard by hand.
"Well for starters I would have to assume that lacing a false offering of any surplus won't be possible given the current oncoming season change, man power, and... personal moral conflicts." He glances towards any symbol of chauntae off to the sides. "So, removing that from the table. If it would be possible to perhaps grow and or create a plant or substance that might especially be appealing to their senses, and then subsequently cover their goblinoid or lesser allies in it, then hill giants, being what they are, might at least take care of that front for themselves for the most part... if you catch my meaning. Otherwise removing the biggest -- and, I cannot stress this enough, but truly this one would be the biggest and bulkiest of them -- from the equation in any future sortie, then any leadership for them will fall to anarchy pretty quickly. Apart from all that, I regret to inform, I would need a little more time to consider." Narz admits as much, and at the Abbots later request, Narz nodded sharply in agreement.
Torsus too had chosen to forego the religious ceremonies, despite his hunger for knowledge, religion bored him to death, and he was already old enough. Aside from other factors. However as it came to a close, and the Abbot spilled his side of the beans, asking for hints, or tips or suggestions as how to better defend the town, he stood there, awestruck at how Narz could say so much and make so little sense. Torsus knew he was basically saying to 'Try to create something that smelled similarly to something the hill giants wanted' such as using honey to lure flies.. but it was tangled and jumbled in the largest word salad Torsus has heard in a long time.
He stood there trying to parse it out for several more long moments before realizing Narz had finished quite a bit ago, before stutteringly adding in his own suggestions. Ah.. um hem. Well having your guards run training excercises with the mercenaries already here should help improve moralle, and perhaps by proxy allow an 'exchange of tactics' as your guards have one set of combat experience, while mercenaries have another entirely. They can learn from eachother.
Also train them to not sit in 'tight' but 'loose' formations, well spread apart, so as to minimalize losses, and reduce the efficacy a single boulder may have, I'd also suggest that if they have to fight them 'toe to toe' to try to 'maneuver' where whatever they are fighting is between them and its allies so it's allies cannot chuck boulders without hitting their own kin. While it will be exhausting, it may ultimately lead to friendly fire on the enemies part.
Also... if these giants are as dumb as I've been told.. a simple pit trap with spikes in the areas they're most likely to attack from with a simple visual illusion, such as raising the hill high on the side they would attack from, they will not see the trap until they have already happened upon it. And if any one you know has any natural magics to faster clear earth it would speed up the process though a shovel will still suffice.
And lastly, do you happen to have a spyglass? I can, for a short time, fly, and in tandem with a spyglass, I can survey the areas around the town and perhaps spot an attack or an encampment.. if they would even have such a thing before they know they have been seen.

Aeyd's eyes squint briefly when she sees some of the color color drain from Shalvus' face, feeling like she was on the right path. "I'm sorry, I'm just having a hard time believing your story here. The animals are well kept within these walls, in which, the walls themselves are quite a distance away, if you ask me." (Referring to the animals being kept in the middle of town) "So I'm not sure if you could even see them from where you've been walking. I would hate to leave this conversation on bad terms since I do want to help, but your dishonesty has made it difficult. I just want to understand what the real reason is behind your 'mind clearing' walks..."
Let's try again (Persuasion/Intimidation as you see fit): 3
Going to assume I fail: With a sigh, the monk bows her head in his direction. "I apologize for taking time away from your work, Shalvus. Please enjoy the rest of your day." Then walks off to report to the abbot.
If I pass somehow, I'll reply accordingly.

Claire walks around the perimeter for a bit longer. If she finds a spot with a nice view of the fields she spends a short time relaxing and centering herself, mulling over her conversation with Zi. When it gets close to time for the sermon, barring anything else happening before then, Claire will head towards the Abbey. Perception check if required: 15

Rollo:
Rollo just nods to Spaz and heads off to help. While he works he'll let some of his frustrations at being stuck inside a city out, rage lifting the pieces he's asked to help with.

Claire receives Spaz' message and heads to the Abbey.

"Glad I'm already here," She hums, pleased. "Thank you, Spaz." The monk gives them a pat on the head (if allowed) and moves forward to report her findings to the abbot.
