Nadia does indeed sit and watch for those remaining 7 minutes before finishing putting on her boots, gladly taking Zack's hand and heading downstairs. Her mouth waters at the scents of food coming from the kitchen, especially the bacon, but she doesn't get too far as she feels the morning chill creep up on her face. With a shiver, she hugs her body for some warmth and looks over to Morak after his greeting. "And a good morning to you too, Morak! Do you need any help? That fire's looking mighty warm..."
Regardless of whether or not he needed the hand, she'd head over to the kitchen (mainly to keep warm) and help if he needed it, but before doing so, she gives Zack a smack on the back. "See if you can get Nadaar inside. I don't know if dragons can get sick or not, but I'd rather not risk it. Plus he's probably hungry." She flashes him a smile and heads off to the kitchen.
Nadaar strove to keep to a rhythm. But, his body would betray him over time. Without a meal in his stomach, and with so poorly balanced blades in hand, it was a miracle he kept up training for more than a few minutes. Even so, he would press forward with the effort for a few minutes more, if albeit with less extravagant leaps, more subtle parrying maneuvers woven in between, and only just the amount of force behind stabs at unseen foes. Someday, if not ruined by time, weather, or the passage of the inhabitants, someone might stumble upon the intricate patterns left behind the heavier steps and leg sweeps and wonder their purpose.
But none would hear it from the Dragonborn's mouth that day. Rather, once he stepped in not even a full minute after Morak had went back into the kitchen, he greeted Zack and Nadia with a smile and pleasantries in between pants. "Ah, it is good that you're awake! We have much to do today! Or, very little depending on how our meeting with the guard goes in a bit." He chuckles heartily at the admission, and despite being topless, still appeared unbothered by the cold. "For truth be told, until they are sent their proper leader, I would prefer to guarantee the message gets recieved this time, over deal with those.... neighbors of Nightstone."

It took a little longer for Zack himself to notice the cold, as he was hotblooded in the literal AND the metaphorical sense, but once out of the comfort of the room, and the cold and the fog settled in... it began to seep past his own aura of warmth. That and seeing his own, as well as Nadia's breath made him regret leaving the bed momentarily. Brought back to reality by the slap Aye, good morning Morak. The kids with you or are they still at their place? taking in a frigid breath with just his nose simultaneously had the effect of freezing his nostrils outer layers, and pleasing his senses with the meal he could smell being cooked - glad he had only taken some of what was needed and not all of it. Smiling back when she did but momentarily lost in thought.
Chuckling at Nadia's candor that she was, in fact, cold, and that somehow their room had been spared - likely attributed to the quality of the inns sealing. Regardless, Nadia had just went to assist in the kitchen, when Nadaar came in, and Zack had been about to head out to get him. Hey Nadaar! Training to become a monk now are you? The singers life not quite what you'd hoped? he asks, teasing, but in a clearly -meant to be- friendly tone. his expression changing to one of doubt as thus-far, every-time he'd tried just that Nadaar always took it as an insult, making him sigh defeately. Anyways... so it seems breakfast is almost ready. And I need to grab something that's not you real quick! he says, shuffling to his pack, and, finding them neatly folded up, pulls out two sets of 'winterized' clothing. Having a spare two left.
So you don't seem to be gettign bothered by it, but like, will you be effected by the cold? If so say so now.... otherwise I've got a use in mind for em. And I'm sure Morak will just .. for lack of a better word.. chill by the fire. making his way downstairs then, heading to the kitchen himself, to deliver Nadia's clothes. he had made sure to find atleast two roughly human-sized ones, accounting for her height difference. And at-least one of them being much larger for Nadaar's guessed size. Stopping by Nadaar if he said he 'wanted one.'
Once inside the kitchen, he would hand Nadia's own to her, before starting to put his own on to get it 'warmed up' for now, placing it over his armor... he'd deal with getting it under later.
Anything I can help with, or whatever? I can only cook simple things and military style.. so but i can help move barrels or lift stuff.
Morak nods to Nadia and points over to a pot of water that's sitting over the fire. Breakfast is almost done. Had to make due with what was left but had some bacon, a few links of sausages eggs and a couple of muffins left. Luckily most of my stock of spices and alcohol were untouched. If ye could just keep an eye on that pot and wait for it to boil. Across the way I have some mugs prepared, some allspice, sugar, butter and a couple of shots of rum. Just poor hot water into the mug and stir, make sure the butter dissolves all the way. Then take a pinch of cinnamon from that jar there and add a pinch in each for added flavor. Will warm ye all right up and the forth mug is for me. Everything ye need should be over on the counter. Once his instructions are dolled out he focuses back on the sausage links he is cooking. They look quite fresh and pratically drip grease into fire. Before long Zack comes in and gives Nadia her winter clothes. Luckily there was a set sized for an elf roughly her size. Nadaar should he choose take a set fonds the clothes a little small but not uncomfortable though he would likely be better off getting a new set next time you find a trader.
Ah, the kids be sleepin. Figured after all they've been through, they could sleep in. I'll help them clean up the cottage a bit later and then work on the inn until them elves show up. Ah but no need for any help, Ms. Nadia here is all I help I need. Go make yerself comfortable at the table. Food is ready. And with that he starts to bring out everyone's breakfast. As promised, bacon, sausage, fried eggs and some muffins with jam and butter. To drink he brings out the mugs of hot buttered rum, Nadia helped make, steam rising from the mugs and offering a nice relief in the cold. Morak waits for everyone to sit down at the table, doing whatever else they need to do before eating. Once everyone is sat he grabs his own mug and pulls up a chair to empty side of the table. His face is quite serious and its obvious he has something to say, but for a while he just warms his hands on his mug and takes a few sips. After a brief silence he pulls out two envelopes and places them on the table.
I hate to be asking favors of ye so soon, but I was hoping ye folk might be able to help me out. I expect ye won't be staying in town too long, and that the road will be calling ya to some adventure or another. I was hoping you might deliver one of these for me...but we need to talk. Morak looks to Rillex who is currently curled up by Nadaars feet. He pushes the letter on his right forward. This letter is addressed to Moris Xelbrin. The Xelbrins were the elderly couple who did most of the book keeping in town. Long time friends with the Nandaars and such. They weren't nobles but they were well educated enough and kind folk. Rillex there was there pet, and as I'm sure ye are aware they didn't survive the giant attack. Their daughter Merla was visiting at the time as well, unfortunately the Ogres took her. Moris is their son, he should be informed that his parents and sister have passed. I see ye have become somewhat fond of Rillex and he of you, I would ask that you bring him with you. Moris may want to keep him in his parents memory and Rillex may want to be with family. If he wants to stay with you I'm sure Moria would understand. Moris lives in Goldenfields to the north. If ye leave Waterdeep from the Eastern gate and follow the Northfurrow road NorthEast it will take ye right to the settlement.
However, I think ye should deliver this letter. He pushes forward the letter to his left.Last night when I wrote this I went back out to look at that half elf in the graveyard. He ain't one of ours but I recognize 'em. He stopped by every now and again, usually travelling between Waterdeep and Daggerford. Always seemed a nice fellow, but I've never seen him armed like that. Ye said Zhents tried to take over? Well I saw the tattoo under his tunic, he was a Zhent alright. Look, I don't know how familiar you are with the Zhentarim but they ain't to be messed with. I had a few close calls with them during me own time as an adventurer. They have eyes and ears everywhere. It won't be long before they find out ye killed one of their own. They'll be out for blood. This letter is addressed to Markham Southwell, the Sherriff in Bryn Shander. If ye ain't familiar, Bryn Shander is the largest settlement in Ten Towns, way up in the Dale. Me friend and neighbor Semile died in the giant attack. She often spoke of her brother in Ten Towns. With her husband's passing a few years ago, her brother Markham is the only family she has left. This letter will let him know of her passing. If you choose to take this, I'll add a bit before I sign it, warning him that ye may be in danger from the Zhentarim and what he did for us. Markham can protect ye all and keep ye safe. Can't say the Zhentarim has any contacts that far North seeing as their ain't much out there that interests them. It's unlikely they will find you there. I recommend you head there as soon as ye can and spend a winter or two there, stay out of major cities and the like until this whole thing with the Zhents blows over.
Morak shrugs and puts the letters back on his pocket. No need to decide now. Think on it and get back to me. I'll find a courier to deliver whichever letter ye don't take. Morak sits in case there are any questions or comments. Once finished he takes his drink into the kitchen.
Instead of derision or anger this time around, Zack's teasing is only met by confused brow ridge raise from the Dragonborn. "I am not sure where either implications are coming from, but no. And for the record, the only singing I do is either with my blades, or what I draw it out from a lover." He said as Zack shuffled around his pack, and threw in a wink there at the end. Whether Zack saw or not, he cared little. But he would raise a brow ridge again at the offer.
"I... Certainly. I will not have a need for it yet, but soon. I am certain you noticed when you and Nadia dragged me from the fire, but we Dragonborn are rather hotblooded physically. Even more so than you humans can get, or so I understood. The Golds, Reds, and Brass especially." He comments, and with coat in hand, would head up stairs at least long enough gather his things, and get cleaned up as much as possible. He comes down in his usual affair, having apparently chosen to stuff the extra clothing away for the time. He digs in heartily into the meal, but with at least some reflexive grace. As hungry as he seemed however, he spared Rillex some sausage pieces with a grin.
".... I promised Rillex that I would see to it that he reunited with his family." Nadaar would admit, if albeit haltingly towards the end. "And I'm not so worried about these Zhent as to flee so quickly, and delay this reuion. So, unless my compatriots feel differently, and would prefer not to risk it, then..." He looks to Nadia and Zack. "I suppose this place will be where we part. For once a Dragonborn gives their word, it will be done. And would rather not drag you down path you do not wish to follow. Nor should you feel obligated to.... Though that said--" He takes a few seconds to coax Rillex attention. "If you don't mind some delays, my friend, I would see Zack home, as he previously mentioned wishing to return for a time at least, if its closer to here first. So, what do you say?"

Nadaars response made Zack laugh a bit, having not expected that sort of bluntness from the man. He was also learning that it was best not to expect anything from Nadaar in the sense of them simply having utterly different values. That coaxed another smile out of him. Nadaars gonna be Nadaar. Especially after he caught the wink out of the corner of his eye, Zack just shaking his head. He's probably into centaurs or some weird shit like that.... he flashed a smirk at the dragonborn, before putting up his fist for a fistbump, and if accepted would bump fists, if not he wouldn't allow himself to be left hanging for 'too long.'
Ah well if that's true, we may need to warm ours up on you every morning before we put em on. Treat you like a fire! And eh, I can understand a red being warm or hot but I don't see how the others could... they don't have any 'fire' in em so to say.. But who knows, you guys already are half dragons so I dunno!watching Nadaar head upstairs to grab his stuff, as he helps Morak set the food out atleast, before immediately digging in while the food was still hot, since the creeping cold wouldn't allow it to remain that way very long once off the grill or stove.
Watching Nadaar return relatively swiftly, but by then, Zack had already eaten most of his own breakfast. And thank you Morak for this. Living off rations is a soldiers life, but they only please the gut, not the tongue. So this is really a treat. he then listened to Morak tell everyone of the tale of two letters. One destined for the remaining surviving child of whoever the folks were who owned Rillex, Nadaars lunch.. err cat.And then of the place far to the north where the group would be 'safe.' Hearing Nadaars responses made Zack smile again, nodding mostly in agreement.
Yeah, I agree with Nadaar here for once. Naddy-boy has a good point. I'm not particularly afraid of small groups being sent, and even if they were sent quickly, they'd have to find out where we were going, where we were, and so on and so forth. As long as the Zhents dont' show up in some massive show of force (OOC - which ironically.....) we can handle whatever they throw at us. And I'm fine with dealing with Rillex and that, but i would like to press my desire to go see my family. Since it seems they're the only stop south of us. And I'd like to tell them what happened all those years ago, and apologize for not telling them then. Then we can swing back around, deal with Rillex, and .. if no on e has any objections... after that, we can see whats going on with these giants. Perhaps by the time we're done with our errands, there'll be more information than 'they flew over and left' and maybe we can look more into this.
In fact... having the Zhents after us with us pursuing giants... might be of benefit.... it was clear when a lantern had lit itself in his mind, as an idea struck him. leaning in and whispering for only those at the table to hear... just in case.... Maybe we leave a few breadcrumbs for the zhents but stay out of sight .. lead them right to the giants... and let two problems take care of themselves eh? or atleast soften eachother up... by the time he was finished speaking, his grin had spread wide, like someone having just thought of a great strategy.
After hearing everyone replies, adding in And when are we supposed to meet about the meeting again? I think I was a bit distracted lastnight. he'd say, honestly not trying to imply anything but also not catching onto what his own words might mean.
Morak nods at the responses but a concerned frown never leaves his face. If ye say so, but I'd be careful. Ye may have caught the Zhents off guard this time, when they come for you it'll be on their terms. Just be careful. I'll let ye think it over a bit more, just let me know what ye decide before ya leave. Ah andAlara wants to hold the meeting in the keep. They are there clearing an area now. Not sure when these elves of yours are showing up. So for now ye can relax or prepare or do whatever ye wish. When they show up someone will come and get ye.
Nadia was more than happy to lend a hand in making the drinks, making sure she followed the instructions given to a T. She wasn't entirely sure what the drink was (spiced rum?), but as she helped brew it, she couldn't help but enjoy the scents that had wafted through the air. Cinnamon sugar was a classic, the allspice under notes brought it all together. The elf couldn't help but taking a sip once everything was put together, and a few more for good measure. It was so warming.
She had been caught in the act when Zack came in to hand her some winter clothing, but she played it off as simply taste testing and thanks him for the clothes. For right now, she simply throws the clothes over her own and helps out in bringing to food to the table. Due to force of habit, Nadia makes sure everyone else is fed first (even setting aside two plates for the kids for later) before she digs in and eats whatever else is left.
The elf listens to Morak speak of the letters as she chews on a piece of sausage. She takes into consideration of what the boys were saying prior to throwing in her own opinion, which really didn't differ much from theirs. "We're all in agreeance then. We've shown how capable we are in handling groups of Zhent's before, so dealing with them won't be much of an issue. Plus I'd like to see where Zack grew up." She gives a little chuckle.
Unfortunately, Zack's fistbump went without being reciprocated by the Dragonborn, if albeit out of apparent lack of understanding, judging by the raised brow ridge. Soon after, he paused half-way up the steps, and shot a mild glare back at Zack for the half dragon comment. And while for a moment there it looked as if he might say something as well, he snorted, shook his head, and continued on his way.
Later/Present Time...
Nadaar sighs softly. "In that case, seeing as we otherwise have the day to ourselves, more or less, I will see if your local... blacksmith or other shops might have scimitars I can borrow -- for future practice, if nothing else." He said, having finished meal fairly swiftly thanks to Rillex. "Mr. Morak."He nods appreciatively to, and then turns to Zack with less happy look. "And Zack... Don't call me -boy again. I.. no, I cannot fathom you meaning that as anything more than push my buttons sort of thing. So, if you would kindly not do that again."He requests dryly, and unless there was more after, took his leave to begin his search with Rillex in tow.

Zack just sighed at both of Nadaars responses. It was becoming a little tedious but he felt that eventually, Nadaar would come around. Before Nadaar could walk off, he would quickly say Look man, maybe you should start asking if someone means what you think they mean. I'm trying to be friendly and treat you like I would any friend. Humans may not always give the best impressions... his eyes look away for a moment as he remembers what Agis said, and Agis wasn't entirely wrong.... ...But really, you gotta stop assuming the worst intentions.
Zack Nodded at Morak, glad that he wouldn't have to worry about missing the meeting, taking a sip of the drink that was brought by Nadia when it finally came around, enjoying the warmth so much he almost scalded his mouth drinking. It was very clear Zack wasn't fond of the cold at all. Yeah, we'll think on it a bit more, but I think we'll be fine, honestly. I highly doubt all of them are gonna have the same trick as Xolkin did. And thanks Nadia for the drinks, Just what I needed to warm my core back up. Speaking of, perhaps I'll train ya a bit before we go down every night, get you a little more used to close quarters. Just so you have some experience with it. I'll have to use a smaller weapon though, atleast at first. Main;y since most things don't use weapons this big.
And I'm glad to see you're confident. I can trust you to have my back - though I basically already did trust you. Just felt it needed to be said rather than implied. He smiled and looked a little down at the same time, a mixture of feelings about what Nadia had just said.Thinking back to his home. It's really nothing that special. Just a farm outside of town. I don't have some grand mansion, or even a middling house. So, sorry if we do go there, and you find yourself disappointed. It didn't seem he was ashamed or anything like that about it, but he was clearly trying to keep her expectations low.
Despite how adamant she was in feeding everyone else, Nadia was the first to finish what she put on her plate and was now seen sipping on her drink. It tasted as good as it smelt and it warmed her core up right quick. As much as she could withstand warmer climates, she always preferred it to be cooler for personal reasons. Nadia gives the fighter an appreciative nod when he thanks her for the drinks, just finishing up her mug and settling it back down on the table. "That would be much appreciated, Zack. I really don't want to end up in that swing-and-miss situation again, even when I thought the dagger switch would make it easier... But speaking of smaller weapons, I did pick off some short swords from one of the goblins, so we can use those."
She smiles warmly at his last bit, shaking her head at him trying to lower her expectations. "Haha, I didn't think you lived in a mansion and lived a lavish life, you're way too humble for me to even assume that. You mentioned before that you lived on a farm, but, like you said, it's been a while. I think it would be nice to, um... Reunite you with your family, if that makes any sense..."
Morak gives you each and appreciative nod before returning to the kitchen and leaving you to your buisness. Nadia and Zack are left inside the inn discussing what they wish to do. While it looks like training is on the agenda, there are plenty of open spaces in town that would be suitable training grounds, there is also the keep where they likely have training grounds already set up for the guards and possibly even blunted practice weapons.
(As I mentioned in discord. With Nadia's plus 1 INT modifier she requires 45 days of training, a minimum of 8 hours a day needs to be spent training for it to count. The reward will likely be a feat (but can be 1d4+6 days of daily inspiration at dawn, proficiency in weapon or something else that would be appropriate. Right now I'm leaning towards a feat but theres a lot of training ahead of her so we can discuss it further later. The 45 days dont have to be consecutive and can be spread apart, however if there are long gaps of time between training session it may take longer to account for inconsistent training. Long enough time such as several months without any type of training, and I might start taking days away.)
Nadaar, you ask around town but it becomes clear that there is no blacksmith in town. It seems that the town got most of its metal needs from the Lionshield coster who probably got goods from a blacksmith in Waterdeep. There may be weapons on the keeps armory, but so far the guards you have seen only use long swords, maces and bows. As for other stores there is the halfling family which runs a small apothecary but has limited stock assuming they have stock left after the attack. The Coster seemed to be the main source of shopping in town as there are no other stores. If you would like to check the armory for a scimitar roll a percentile die, there is a 40% chance there are scimitars. (If successful there is enough stock for you to take two)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"... I would have accepted your guidance at face value... had you not proven time and time again to let naivety dictate your actions."He states, reminding Zack of his own lack of suspicion in a certain Zhent agent. "That said, I understand that your trying. Which is why my responses have been as measured as they have been. But I have given warning in the past about words and their meaning." He frowns. "And one does not simply cast aside all that has been ingrained from practically birth. And if you do not believe me. Ask any dwarf from their home kingdoms. Or the same of an ex-hobgoblin legionnaire."Nadaar took his leave on those word, and would not stop for further conversation. Or at least, not without being physically stopped at that point. However, any watching him leave would see at a least a instance of him tugging at his whiskers in frustration.
Following the initial failings of his search, Nadaar would commit to searching the keep's armory. Albeit, not before contacting the head of the guard, and offering -- if he should find anything -- to replace his longsword and Krul's Blade with any scimitars discovered on the grounds. Even if Nadaar cannot find what he sought, he thanks the guard's at the keep for their time, then heads back towards the gate to check on them about any goblin sightings. At some point in between all of his searching, he would ask Rillex if he was being -- had been unreasonable before with his requests of Zack.
As Zack watched Nadaar leave, both brows raised in defeated consternation, he would sigh, once he assumed the dragonborn was out of earshot. His forehead learning how to rest against his palms as Zack had all but inhaled his food and drink already. A habit he had picked up and not unlearned from morning retinues. And despite his best attempts to 'savor' food, he found it hard. He's right, to a point, but sometimes I feel like he's not even tryin' - - - Ah well. Raising his head from that position when Nadia began to respond and looking at her with a slight smile. Yeah, It's no problem, It can only help! And it never hurts to know a thing or two that you didn't know before. Though admittedly I wish I knew I had these powers sooner... Woulda came in handy.. if nothing else. Also if that dream I had was any indication, I have more I'm not aware of... his eyes had somewhat glazed over in a sense, before he realized he was rambling on.
Ah shit, sorry. And those might be nice if we can't find an alternative. What say we head to the keep and see if they have any practice weapons? Last thing either of us needs is to actually hurt eachother, whether by accident or not. I doubt they'd say no at this point anyway~ he considered saying more but every line that came into his head was beyond cheesy so he cut off that line of thought there before addressing her next comments. lacing his fingers together as his arms make a 'triangle' on the table. Yeah yeah I know... But Maybe i was one of those rich farmers with hundreds of acres of land and fed an entire city, just tryna make sure you understand its like.. better than a shack, not quite a house.... Somehow My mom's and dads genes were jus tthe right match to make me look pretty good. he said, knowing he was relatively attractive in general. or atleast that's what everyone tells me.
Nodding and waiving farewell to Morak, giving him another thanks for the good food. Ah yeah, it would be nice... But I think you just want me to introduce you to my parents... Quite a bold move for you, even if we did meet eachother in the past he had said, all while getting up and standing, putting himself profile to her, and opening the eye halfway that was closest to her, a smirk on his face once more. Leaving that there as he would wait just long enough for it to start to get 'something' before adding in In any case, we got time to kill, so.. keep or, wanna risk the real swords?
Nadaar, the guards give you permission to check the armory, seeming more than happy to help one of the Heros of Nightstone. A thorough search yields two scimitars that seem dusty but in good condition. They are light but balanced weapons. Its clear they have been forgotten about and haven't seen much use. Leaving behind your longsword and Krűls greatsword in their place, you strap the new blades to your side and take your leave. As you travel back to the gate you ask Rillex about you're issues with Zack. Rillex just looks at you with a confused look on his face. Given the age of his previous owners, it's likely Rillex was living in the lap of luxury before all this and isn't used to weighing in on complex matters of inter- racial relations. Regardless he lands on your shoulders and rubs his head against yours in an attempt to make you feel better. Finally you reach the gate and climb one of the towers. The guard is one you are not familiar with, someone rescued from the cave most like. He reports no Goblin sightings though he can't see much through the fog.
Zack and Nadia: should you choose to utilize the keep and their training weapons you find that the few guards at the keep are more than willing to let you use their equipment to train.
During their conversation, Nadia could be seen cleaning up the table after giving Nadaar a small wave goodbye (and a small frown at his comment just before he fully left), gathering everyone's plates into a neat stack and cups right beside to bring them to the kitchen for a wash. "While I'm sure knowing magic would have made things easier for you before, maybe you just so happen to be a late bloomer? Not to mention your magic is very... interesting, for lack of a better word. I'm not the best versed in magic honestly, just know the little I saw mi mamá use before..." She gives a one sided shrug as if to say 'you know' prior to continuing, her voice a little lower. "And now that I think about it, that dream was probably why you were glowing like a lightning bug in bed. That's why I was, um, on top of you, sorta, kinda... Aaaanyways-- The tattoo's were glowing, and I couldn't help myself."
She brings her index finger to where she remembered where one of the lines were on his arm, following the imaginary line, then ended it where the focal point would be. "It's like your body is the spell book and the tattoos are the spells... It's pretty neat in my opinion!" She flashes him a smile, retracting her hand back to the plates. She listens to him as she goes to the kitchen really quickly to drop off the dirty dishes in the basin for a later washing. She returns to her seat just as he finishes his comment about his home and looks, earning him a small roll of the eyes and scoff. "I don't know what you think I'm expecting for you to keep down playing your home like that. You're lucky you're cute, would've smacked you by now."
Nadia lightens up a bit with a laugh with the mention of introducing her to his parents. "You caught me! My master plan has been unveiled... Ah well, for introducing me to your parents, I'll make sure to tell mine about you when I pray to them, okay? It's the best I can do considering." She jests, her lips falling into a solemn smile as she shares his gaze... then she cocks a brow at him, a little confused as to why he was looking at her that way. "But, um, definitely the keep. Don't want to accidentally lob off one of your fingers..."
As they made their way to the keep, Nadia was able to shake off the sad feeling and smile genuinely again. It only brightens when the guards allow them to use their training equipment, the ranger nervous but excited to begin working towards being a better close combat fighter. She picks up a pair of training swords and turns to Zack to assess if these would be sufficient enough for the first session. "Will these do, Mr. Zack, or do you want me to search around a bit more for better?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nadaar accepts the head rubs with a quiet thanks and a reciprocated back of the ear scritches for good measure. "You're right, my friend. I am just over thinking it. With time, I am certain there will be some equilibrium. And if not, well... the journey south will be our test."At that, he quiets for the remainder of the trip, only really opening up again to converse with the guard. His concern thus solidified at that point, he still respectful shows thanks in a curt nod, before taking his leave to vent some frustration.
Although tempted to return immediately to the keep for both self-training and more, realizing the people of the town could use some help, Nadaar would go from door to door, offering whatever aid he can to help at least smooth the transition to an at least habitable state. Yet, he is cautious about it, knowing not just his form, but the stance he took in regards to the goblins did not leave good impression; hero though he may be. If anything, those that erred on the appreciative side off the back left him flinchy at times, but no less willing to provide help; be it a strong arm, a healing word, or the abbreviated version of the groups prior discussions about negotiations. At least the ones he felt fairly confident about holding until much more formal arrangements could be made. Above all, he tries to reinforce Zack's previous days uplifting words. So that come what may, the people would be more keen on defending the town themselves if they must, rather than abandon it.
These things he does until incident or summons requires his return to the keep, or the day comes to a close.
Zack looked thoughtful at Nadia's explanation, even if he did somehow doubt its legitimacy. Possibly. But like.. don't people normally feel some tug or display something by accident or whatever? And ha, thats one elvish word I can figure out the meaning of. Eh, sorry, my minds just a bit everywhere. Recently learned I can use magic or a magic-like energy. Remembered things I should never have forgotten. Was reminded of things I wish I hadn't forgotten.. he says looking at her with a light smile, though somehow he still felt guilty, like he was perhaps taking advantage of the situation. Among all this other stuff. So I'm still straightening my minds uh... shelves. It seemed Zack hadn't noticed her flustration about being on him or rather he hadn't noticed the context.
However he did start paying attention again Hugh, lightning bug? OH the spells or whatever they are... Yeah, I can feel something where you touched, and i can feel something where those two spheres in my arms were before, and no it doesn't hurt this time. Luckily. So it seems that was just a 'first time' pain or something. Perhaps like it was gettign years of rust off the metal or something. his shoulders rising in their own shrug as she speaks of the expectations once more finally more or less dropping the point, but still responding Eh.. maybe I want you to smack me~ He said, stretching just after Nadia returned, before they would start to head out into the deep fog. His usual airs back to normal, in that general upbeat aura. Atleast until she said what she did about her parents. His smile fading into a neutral frown, but he turned his head away so she wouldn't see, looking a little more towards the ground for a few moments before catching himself, trying to play it off as he was just looking at something nearby, in the fog or something.
I hadn't been thinking of it that way. Sorry Nadia, for being insensitive, but I can't say this to you or it'll just make it worse so... and as that thought left his mind silently, he turned to look at her, pulling her in- for a one-armed hug while his other hand sought her side, Tickling it as quickly as he could, poking just hard enough into the side to trigger that 'funny muscle' that makes most people laugh as soon as he caught her starting to frown. Letting her go when it seemed she had recovered.
When they finally reached the keep, and the guards let them have the equipment, Zack thanking them for allowing them to use it with pats on the shoulder and some otherwise encouraging words.
As they make their way out to a clear space somewhere within the keep or outside of it. As Nadia picks up the weapons, he finds one that's the equivalent of a long-sword for himself. Testing it's weight and balance and finding it within the range of 'close enough.' And just then, Nadia asks her question as he's passing the sword from one hand to another Honestly, that's not something I can answer. You gotta do what 'feels' right. I know it sounds like I'm copping out on an answer for you but, only you can determine what's good for you. Like my big sword? Before I.. inherited it, I was using a smaller greatsword. Shortswors.. maces... axes... longswords... none of them felt right. The weight, and size was always off. And I couldn't ever imagine dual wielding. I'm not ambidextrous. So, do what feels right to you. And come at me as soon as you're ready!
with that, he'd put both hands on the hilt of the longsword-like training blade, waiting for Nadia to strike.

While they made their way to the keep, with her way too deep into her thoughts, she didn't expect the side hug, nor the little bout of tickling. Whatever that had come to mind was washed away and a joyous laugh erupt past her lips, the elf trying to pull away from him before she turned into a ball of laughter. Thankfully, the assault didn't last too long, and Nadia gave Zack a swift punch on the shoulder with a smile at her lips. "I'll get you back for that," She warns, the smile still there even as she lowers her voice. "Thank you for it though."
Although the answer she got wasn't what she was looking for, she understood what he meant, and she looks at the other training weapons available to them before simply settling on the shortsword for now. "I'll probably rotate out to try them all, but this one feels nice? I think..." She looked at the training sword, then again to the weapons, her brows furrowing. If Nat can use this thing surely I can too, right? ... Right?
Before psyching herself out, she regains control and takes a deep breath before turning to Zack and striking!
Attack: 7 Damage: 9
She reels back into a sort of defensive stance, "Okay, okay... How was that?"

He only responded to her thanks with a grunt. Still not quite knowing what to say but at the very least having acknowledged her reply. He also understood her frustration, regardless of how mild it may be to his response, as it was the very same one his friend had gave him when he was first training. He would offer her one reply though Haha, not quite what I meant. I meant some people like to use two at once, some people like smaller weapons, some people like la... she suddenly struck out as he was busy talking, managing to catch him offguard enough to smack him with the training weapon!
Ho-ho.. Taking advantage of my opening when I'm trying to help youhuh?he asked as he took a step back before raising his own weapon over his head But you did pretty good for a surprise strike.. he says, hoping the flattery might throw her off, and in turn teach her to keep just as much attention up as he brought the weapon down with both hands in an angled slice with the blunt side...
Attack: 21 Damage: 11
The flat of the blade landing on her outer-thigh with a very loud thwap. Bu don't think I'm going to go easy or hold back, just cause you're cute.

Occassional Dungeon Master.
He pushes forward the letter to his left. Last night when I wrote this I went back out to look at that half elf in the graveyard.

Occassional Dungeon Master.
"Mr. Morak." He nods appreciatively to, and then turns to Zack with less happy look. "And Zack... Don't call me -boy again. I.. no, I cannot fathom you meaning that as anything more than push my buttons sort of thing. So, if you would kindly not do that again." He requests dryly, and unless there was more after, took his leave to begin his search with Rillex in tow.

Earlier:
Occassional Dungeon Master.
"Haha, I didn't think you lived in a mansion and lived a lavish life,
you're way too humble for me to even assume that. You mentioned before that you lived on a farm, but, like you said, it's been a while. I think it would be nice to, um... Reunite you with your family, if that makes any sense..."Morak gives you each and appreciative nod before returning to the kitchen and leaving you to your buisness.
(If successful there is enough stock for you to take two)
"... I would have accepted your guidance at face value... had you not proven time and time again to let naivety dictate your actions." He states, reminding Zack of his own lack of suspicion in a certain Zhent agent. Or the same of an ex-hobgoblin legionnaire." Nadaar took his leave on those word, and would not stop for further conversation.

Nadaar accepts the head rubs with a quiet thanks and a reciprocated back of the ear scritches for good measure. "You're right, my friend. I am just over thinking it. With time, I am certain there will be some equilibrium. And if not, well... the journey south will be our test." At that, he quiets for the remainder of the trip, only really opening up again to converse with the guard.

Ho-ho.. Taking advantage of my opening when I'm trying to help you huh? he asked as he took a step back before raising his own weapon over his head But you did pretty good for a surprise strike.. he says, hoping the flattery might throw her off, and in turn teach her to keep just as much attention up as he brought the weapon down with both hands in an angled slice with the blunt side...
Attack: 21 Damage: 11
The flat of the blade landing on her outer-thigh with a very loud thwap. Bu don't think I'm going to go easy or hold back, just cause you're cute.
