Nadia had been brushing a stray curl away from her face as he compliments her on her surprise attack. “Thanks! My dad taught me that— Ow!” She yelps out when he strikes at her, her free hand now rubbing where the weapon had connected. “I’m not saying to go easy on me, but that’s definitely gonna bruise... Jerk!” When that last word leaves her lips she attacks!
Attack: 26 Damage: 15
Zack most likely anticipated that attack, Nadia missing completely and stumbling forward. Too much momentum. “Eso estuvo muy mal. Necesitas concentrarte...”She mutters to herself, regaining balance before looking to Zack again, her eyes filled with determination. “Alright, bring it, pretty boy!”
And so it went, Zack and Nadia training in the keep courtyard for a good portion of the day, with the occasional break for water and food before going back at it again. (Whoever is keeping track of Nadias training can mark of 1/45 days complete). While the pair practiced Nadaar went about town helping folk where he could. Some people were obviously nervous around the dragonborn, intimidated by his appearance, while others were wary of his support for the Goblins. However more people were pleased than naught, happy to have help from one of the Heros of Nightstone. However even with his help some of the more labor intensive tasks were unable to be accomplished, for now debris were moved and places out of the way, and some people tried having the horses move the boulders moved with little success. Still a lot got done and the people appreciated his help and kind words.
Late in the afternoon Nadaar had been taking a break, getting dinner in the Inn when one of the guards approached him. Excuse me sir, Alara wanted me to fetch you. She requests your presence at the gate, it seems the elven delegation has shown up. She asked for you too Morak. Morak, who had been behind the bar, nods and sticks his head in the kitchen, telling the kids to watch the place in his absence before heading out.
At the keep a different guard approaches Nadia and Zack who were just about finished with their training. Both sweaty and tired from long hours of practice, the pair had been taking a break and eating some food that had been brought to them. Sorry to bother you both, but the elves have arrived. Alara wanted me to let you know, you can wait in the keep if you want, she's meeting them at the gate.
At this time of day the air had grown warmer and is starting to get cold again as the sun sets. The fog however hasn't let up causing just about everything to feel damp, the sun itself seeming to have a hard time breaking through the clouds causing the day to be dim and somewhat grey and depressing.
At the mention of elves, Nadaar bites back a huff, but the smell of burnt cinnamon still wafted from his nose. "Mn. So she has, and so shall we be there." He hops out his seat, and waits patiently for Morak before heading out alongside the man. If he happens to see Zack and Nadia well prior to reaching the gate, he bids them a nod, but no more. What usual air of nonchalance about the black scaled swordsman could not be felt or seen this day. But as he and Morak at least grew closer to the gate, he says to the dwarf. "What do you think the odds are of them agreeing to most of our previously discussed terms, my friend? Your genuine opinion. And is there anything else about these elves we might want to have in mind berfor proceedings?"
Aside from studying the dwarf's face from the corner of his eyes, Nadaar's kept his face forward, and Rillex in his arms at least until they reached the gate; assuming the Tressym is willing.

Rillex sits comfortably in Nadaars arms and purrs contently as he heads to the gate. Morak walks beside Nadaar and thinks about the early mentioned proposals before grumbling. Bah, these elves are a stubborn lot. Been a problem ever since the town was founded. They attacked our village, killed our Lord, and didn't try to help at all when we was under attack by giants. I don't trust 'em, but we can't afford a war especially not now. Just be careful, I'm sure this lot is up to something.
Zacks breathing as a bit more steady than Nadia's most likely, having been used to this sort of training but even he was feeling exhausted from it, as it had been a while since he had to do more than maintain his current form. Each of them sporting a few new bruises wherever the armor hadn't protected from a strike. He had been about to try to parry one of her blows, when the guard came in, allowing her to score just one, final smack against his belly. Ooagh shit, that stings. Oof he says, rubbing where her final blow had landed...Well, it looks like they're finally here. Time to be diplomatic. Based on what we saw from Agis though, we may wanna go met them at the gate with Alara. Don't like the way he does things. Lets just hope he's not the one they sent to handle it.
But you did good today, not a bad start. I suppose it helps you already have some actual combat experience. And sorry for hitting so hard right off the bat and nevr giving you a chance to recover. Just tryign to make sure you get that on the battlefield, at close range... there's a hundred things going on at once, and every one of them is trying to distract you and get you to slip up, and die. So I'd rather be harsh on you now and see you live, than have been too soft, and have to see you die, or.. worse. he says the last part with no hesitation but genuine concern. Patting her shoulder, softly, conscious of her bruises. Placing his real sword in the ground, deep, and at a slight angle.
But for once, I'll let you decide if you want us to go, or if we'll trust them not to be up to shit.
If choosing to go, Zack would leave his sword there as they went. Otherwise, choosing to sit in the keep where the guards led.
Nadia’s body ached at the over exertion. It screamed at her to stop attacking, but determination fueled her to continue. She wanted to get better, yet despite knowing improvement took time, she continued. When he gave her advise, she would listen and try using it in her next attack, doing it over and over until she got it perfect, then moved onto the next thing. She finally let out a heavy breath at that last strike, a small smirk tugging at her lips when it connects, noticing the guard soon after.
Her breathing is hard, but she manages to get it under control as the guard and he spoke, Nadia wiping away the sweat from her brow. “Thanks,” She exhales, putting away the training blades then stretching her arms a bit. “Really, hah... My body’s gonna be sore in the morning... And as much as I want to head to bed, let’s get this thing over with with the elves. I’ll serve as a translator if need be, and I’ll make sure to tell you guys if they call us ********.” She smiles with a shrug. “And I do hope we see Agis again, just so you could try dueling him again and watch him miss literally everything, haha.”
Nadaar and Morak reach the gate first. Alara greets them and seeing Nadia and Zack heading over she waits for them to arrive before doing anything. Thanks for coming guys. Morak filled me in on the plan and I'm glad you think there's a possibility for peace here. I hope you're right and know what you're doing. Ma'am they're hereone of the guards in the tower calls down. Alara gives a nervous sigh and turns towards the closed gate giving a nod to the guardsmen. The chains rattle as the bridge is lowered, ending in a loud thud as it hits the ground. From out of the fog a dark form can be seen, as it approaches the large dark form becomes several smaller forms and eventually the contingency of elves can be seen. Leading the pack is an old looking male elf with long grey hair wearing a old moss covered robe. Flanking him on either side are two elven warrior who are wearing heavy armor, uncommon enough for elves but not unheard of. Agis is also among the group with a small retinue of elven scouts following him. And lastly a female elf also dawning robes but they are much cleaner though the style is rather dated. Theelderly elf steps forward to greet Alara and bows
Greetings, I am Evvryn Hulen. This is my Grandon Agis, and this my Granddaughter Qellah. I lead the clan of elves in the forest and they are my chief advisors. It was brought to my attention by Agis that you're clan wished to speak with mine about use our forest. Are we to speak here or is there somewhere else you wish to converse, I wish to make this quick as I am not accustomed to being away from home.Alara gives a less sincere bow thats clearly more out habit than anything and says That's right. I am Alara Winterspell, as of now I'm the leader of the guard of Nightstone. This is Morak Ur'gray, one of our most looked up to and well respected citizens. And these are the Heros of Nightstone, Nadaar, Nadia and Zack. It's my understanding one of your own is acquainted with them already. If you would please follow us to the keep, we have prepared a room where we can speak. Alara leads the way and Morak and the elves follow (and presumably you all as well). When Agis gets a look at Zack he gives his a smug smiles and bow. The female elf notices and simply rolls her eyes at her brothers antics. You're all led to the keep and once in the courtyard you find that several guards waiting in at attention my the keep entrance, part tradition for greeting important political guests and part show of force . Once entering the keep Evvryn says Agis, if you would keep your men outside. I do not feel we will need the extra guard for peace talks. I trust our friends intend no trickery here.He gives Alara a serious look and she nods, ordering her men to stay outside as well save two of the guards you first met in Nightstone, Sydiri and Torem who are waiting inside guarding the door. In the mail hall of the keep a table has been set up with chairs for all of you. The keep is still mostly rubble but it's been cleaned up some what. Alara takes her seat at the head of the table and Evvryn his as the other end, flanked on either side by his grand children. His guards stand behind him and lastly Morak takes a seat neck to Alara.

As Zack and Nadia made their way down, the fog, oddly still there, made him look around with curiosity. Was it some sort of magic maybe?he wondered to himself as they continued down towards the front gate. For once, he didn't flirt r be overly playful, but he did set his hand on her shoulder when they got close to the gate. Waving to Morak, Alara, and whoever else may have been gathered there. He was somewhat tense, as he wanted this to succeed but wasn't quite sure how it was going to go. He wanted mroe than just them to leave the village alone but he wasn't sure how much he could push for, and as they approached Nadaar, he'd lean in, whispering into the dragonborns earhole I'm gonna go ahead and leave the overall negotiations to you man... but try to squeeze a bit more than just passiveness. If you can. And I know oyu already know this, so I'm probably talking out my ass but, this is something between Nightstone and the elves so.. we should let Alara lead most of the conversation. before pulling away, and standing shoulder to shoulder between the N's. He hadn't had time to respond to Alara before...
As the 'dark mass' approaches Zack gets a little more tense, just in case its not the elves but relaxes again when they reveal themselves, though he is admittedly wary of the force they brought with them. Simultaneously understandable, yet he felt unnecessary since the humans were clearly at the disadvantage numbers-wise.. at least when it came to capable fighters. Zack eyeing and sizing up every single fighter, caster, even the old man as to what he guessed each of them were likely capable of should a fight break out. Trying to Identify who was likely the biggest three threats, actively ignoring Agis in this sweep, as after Agis' poor display in the cave, he considered him a flailing child in combat at best. Zack made sure Agis could see that his weapon wasn't on him so the elf would think it had been lost, and they likely wouldn't' see the training yard he'd left it in. Saluting rather than bowing when he was mentioned.
Zack doesn't give Agis' play any response, keeping his own expression neutral, if anything, continuing to ignore the elfs existence as if he wasn't worth bothering about as he turns to follow everyone out. Sticking to the outside of the group but still within reasonable 'formation.'
As they were led past the guards, an odd sense of nostalgia overcame Zack, as well as a bit of ironic humor.. that he used to be one of those in the guards' place. When Agis was told to leave his men outside, leaving only the most direct guards and envoys in the area he almost relaxed more. Zack would once more take to whispering sweet nothings into Nadaar's earhole, being as quiet as humanly possible as he whispered.. Perhaps you should keep Rillex or .. one of your invisible guys outside to keep an eye on things. I'm sure you've heard of the Red Wedding.... And while I don't think they're going to be up to anything.... Agis is in fact here... so you never know, and having someone to warn us that shits going on outside.... Either way, better safe than sorry.
Zack waited until everyone else had taken a seat before taking whatever one was left for himself.

Nadaar just nodded curtly to Alara, but was unable to say nothing in time, as Zack chose to get in one last whisper. It's difficult to find an earhole, as Nadaar's more thick, hair-like scales covered it up. He catches his attention all the same, and earned a sidelong look. Then in a whisper back, Nadaar says, "I can make no promises to the former. But in the latter, I will try." At that, he strained up, and was silently thankfully for having Rillex in his arms at the start. For while he had no intention of drawing his new found blades any time soon, even as the fog made it difficult to confirm that elves truly did approach, the sight of the Dragonborn's arms thoroughly occupied were as much a peace-bond as any leather bands might've been upon initial encounter. Even if it may or may not have invoked some curiosity or confusion in the elves.
Nadaar had to catch himself from bowing in turn to Evvryn, and had to mentally chide himself on his place. Outwardly, he kept up a bit of a humble and welcoming smile, even as Agis seemed determined to not play along. Seeing his sister's reaction gave him hope... as well as earn a slight brow ridge rise of interest. Of course, Nadaar promptly looked away after to focus on making sure he didn't suddenly gain two left feet while walking with the procession. That would've particularly been a bit embarrassing, what with all the elven guard retinue around for things. None of which he never appeared to mind, or was surprised by in the least. However, as things progressed, he would use the remainder of the trek to the castle to get a general read on the elves feeling about the meeting. Everyone but Agis, as he made his stance fairly clear on the possibility.
"... You'll have to tell me more this 'Red Wedding'... but later...Rillex. If you would?"He whispered to Zack and Cat each in turn, though he needed not try as hard to be heard by the latter(Rillex PasP: 15). Setting down Rillex outside the doors on that note, he carries on inside and stand at Alara's opposite side for at least a final whisper in her ears. "We are with you. But you more than have all you need to make this a success without too much interference. Have confidence."He pats her one last time on the shoulder, before taking a seat by her and across from Morak to await the opening words.
(It'll probably be a waste, but Nadaar would give Alara her a Bardic Inspiration, if only for flavor)

Nadia kept her hopes up regarding the meeting, and Zack's hand at her shoulder (even momentarily) had reassured her that all would go well. She stood straight, her hands folded in front of her as she watched the fog approach. When she sees the elves figures through the haze, she takes a moment to wonder if all elven tribes were this extra when it came to diplomatic meetings. She bows formally to them out of respect, even to Agis (though quick), and greets them in their native tongue for flare, also wanting to make it known had they tried to slip anything past them without translation, she would understand and most likely relay the information to the others.
At the keep, she sits herself down on Alara's side, in a seat where she could simply stare at Agis, not to intimidate, but just to see if she could possibly make him squirm under her gaze. Gods, Nat, what did you see in this pendejo? I swear the next time we see each other...Nadia stops herself from going any further on that thought and waits patiently for them to begin discussing.
Zack, you inspect each elf in turn, trying to gauge their potential combat ability. The old man looks frail and weak, though he is likely a magic user and thus could still be a threat. The two guards next to him are well armed and armored, likely accomplished warriors in their own right and possibly even have some magic of their own though you really can't know for sure. The small retinue of scouts are all lightly armored, equipped with bows and short swords, they likely rely more on stealth and speed and probably some underhanded tricks if they are following Agis. Lastly the Granddaughter, who is accompanied by no guards, seems to have no weapons on her much like her grandfather. It's likely she is a caster as well, though how skilled she is is hard to tell though it's likely she would have some of the same skills as her grandfather. Even though Zack ignores Agis he doesn't fail to notice Agis chuckling at Zacks apparent lack of weapon. When they get to the keep Zacks sword is well out of sight, giving Zack confidence that his idea worked.
As the group walks to the keep Nadaar too is keeping an eye on the elves, trying to gauge their feelings. Unfortunately Nadaar finds them difficult to read, with the exception of Agis who clearly doesn't seem to care much about the meeting. The elven patriarchs face seems set in stone and just as cold, not betraying any of his thoughts. Qellah, the granddaughter, catches you looking at her. She gives you a hard glare that clearly tells you she thought you were checking her out and she is not happy about it, regardless I'd you were or not. Unfortunately not the best start to mending relations.
Once everyone is in the keep, with the extra guards and Rillex outside, you all take your respective seats. The room is quiet for an uncomfortable amount of time. Alara appears nervous and somewhat out of her depth. Looking st Nadaar and remembering his words of support she takes a deep breath to calm herself and starts to speak when she is interrupted by Evvryn. Please, Ms.Winterspell, as I said I wish to conclude this meeting as soon as possible. No offense to you or you're home, but I wish to return to mine. So allow me to start. We are simply here to reinforce that we can not allow any non elves into our woods. It is our home, and we must protect it with our lives lest we lose it. You're people had been asked to cease their trespassing, but your Lord kept allowing people into the forest. We have no wish for bloodshed, but we will not be ignored. His tone is grave and stern, leaving little room for arguement though Alara fully intends to. My people need access to those woods to survive. The food and gold from hunting are invaluable to this village. And after this most recent attack we will need the lumber to rebuild. Qellah chimes in speaking in a soft, melodic but still somewhat authoritative voice. We have been in living in Ardeep for centuries, since before you're great grandparents were even conceived we have lived there. Yet only 10 years ago you're Lord claims this land as his, even though it rightfully belonged to us you cut down our trees and reduced our home in size to build this village, by all rights we should be in charge here but we allowed you to settle. Yet you continued to invade our home, killing our game, cutting our trees. If we had poached in the land of one of your human Lords would they not put bounties on our heads? All we sought and still seek is to defend our home from invaders such as yourself. Alara glares at Qellah, opening her mouth to speak only to find her words escape her. She looks over to the party for any assistance

As everyone sat in the silent tension, Zack wanted to say something, but for once didn't quite know what to say. That and he wanted to let Nightstone represent itself in it's talks. He too had bee about to say something when the elder elf speaks up. And he listened to everything both sides said with a slowly growing frustration. Though Alara's comment about the 'gold' probably wasn't the best point to throw in there either as humans are judged for their 'greed' all the time by other races, and he sighed as soon as the words came out of his mouth. And he thought he liked Alara the least of the three at the moment, trying to play the superiority card, followed by a guilt trip filled with assumptions. It was at this point that Zack looked to Nadaar apologetically, considering he had told him to cover it but he just couldn't sit by and listen after everything he'd heard.
Standing up slowly, with his hands on the table, eyes closed but his visage still overall 'calm' he sighed again before raising his head. We're here for peace, so.. I'll keep some of my sharper comments to myself. But I feel there are some things that need to be said. And If a situation comes up where it comes down to a 'But not everyone' or 'but not all are like that' or something else similar, this is where It's said. I won't repeat it for every possible scenario, in respect for our dearest guest Evvryn and in hopes that we can find some common ground.
There isn't a person here I believe, that isn't already aware that you consider the forest your home. And I understand that you - as any other leader of nations would - do not like to be treated with.. indifference i suppose would be the word. Or basically ignored. And you... he says, turning to face Quellah, putting his arms behind his back as if at a commanding officer... I understand that this is your ancestral homeland, and that your people live a very long time. A tendays worth of human generations can barely match the life of a single generation of your own. At those words, he hesitates for just a moment, his eye flashing to Nadia as a realization strikes him, pushing it down for now but a hint of sadness does grace his features for a moment...
And I'm sure they appreciate that you allowed it at all. he knew that the other humans gathered here were likely becoming irritated by his words, considering... And this is where he began to pivot to his true point. But let us look at the facts here. While them ignoring your request to cease their hunting was rude in and of itself. Every creature, even you needs to eat and drink to survive. If a bear kills a doe in your woods, do you slay it for poaching your game? or call it part of the natural cycle? If every living thing need to eat and drink to survive, then you, and them are both also part of that cycle. Instead of attempting to negotiate with them, to perhaps trade for food they needed that you hunted in exchange for something in return; You chose to murder their lord in cold blood.
And in retaliation, these awful, vile humans did nothing to get back at you. If I were to snap your neck right now, I'm sure the first thing your retinue would do is try to kill me. by this point, his eyes were back on Evv's but he made no hostile motions or gavea any intent to attack. You say you cannot allow people into your 'home' or you will lose it, yet your own race, and all their variants are welcomed into human cities, and in most cases treated respectfully and we have not lost our homes And - If anything, most humans admire the grace and beauty of your races, and the miracles only your people seem to be able to accomplish.
Exhaling and inhaling again to continue talking; You say they reduced your home in size, which is an undeniable fact, but tree's grow back in time with the right care. You say they invaded your home? You contradict yourself my lady. For not moments before you make that accusation, you said you allowed them to settle even if it did chagrin you. Nor did they come in with armies to kill you. They settled here without bloodshed, and by your own admittance, with your own, albeit begrudging permission.
You say if you invaded the lands of human lords that they would seek your head? That would depend on how you approached them. Make them a trade, or a deal to their liking and they'd let you poach to extinction if it was your desire. But again, that goes with compromise, and working together. Which again, you didn't try to parlay, you demanded -- even if you think it's your right -- and when your demands weren't met, you threw a tantrum and killed their lord. he knew he was likely chagrining the older elf with that comment bu pressed on before he could be interrupted.
And defend yourself from invaders such as them? The humans, who didn't attack you even in retaliation? If that's what you consider requiring defense against, I can't help but see you in a constant state of panic and alarum. Which again, you yourself admitted you allowed them to settle, at which point, they can no longer be considered invaders, but rather neighbors.
And while I know you probably don't seek to expand beyond your 'home' there's a reason why Humans accomplish so much in their short lives. I'd even dare to say, and I mean no offense by this.. any human who doesn't waste his life, does more in his century, than an elf does in their millennia. Because we cooperate with each other. We cooperate with our neighbors -and need I remind you what I said at the start of this- We welcome other races, and share what we have. We support each other. And that, I think is what makes humans so wonderful. Is despite all our faults, and despite the exceptions he says, hoping his comment about the 'but not every', humans thrive because we're there for each other, and our neighbors even when they frustrate us.
And from what I can see here, is these humans and others, like Morak who worked together to make this place what it is while not perfect, did the best they could. While.. again... you killed their lord without trying to come to an understanding, while making demands, you arbitrarily chose to attack them over something as petty as stealing bread from a market so that they wouldn't starve. And whether you like it or not - means you're acting more like the people you're trying to claim they are. You're being more the stereotypical human you accuse them to be.
The entire time Zack speaks the elves give him their full attention. Evvryn takes special notices the first time Zack mentions the elves murdering the Lord of Nightstone and leans forward onto the table interlocking his fingers and holding them to his chin as he focuses more on what Zack is saying. The other two just listen, Agis seeming together angry at Zacks wprds and giving an occasional glance to his sister and grandfather. Qellah remains calm and poised giving Zack her full attention. Nadia notices that Evvryns two guards, while not moving, glance at each other in a quizzical way the first time Zack mentions the murdered Lord. After Zack had finished speaking the room was silent and Qellah spoke up once again. First of all human, if they had been simply hunting for their own needs then perhaps it wouldn't have been a problem. But their Lord was bringing people in to hunt for sport, for trophies to decorate ones wall. They cared not what damage they may be doing to the balance of nature. Secondly how dare you accuse us of murder. We have only lived in peace with the people here. It's you're kind who murders without remorse. As she finishes this sentence her calm demeanor cracks slights but she calms her self down before even attempting to finish. However Evvryn interrupts her speaking in his native tongue
My dearest grandchild, I've told you both many times over now, you cannot blame all humans for what happened to your mother. She was your daughter! You may not care but some of us do!
After a brief spat Evvryn closes his eyes and sighs, offering an explanation before Nadia can translate. My daughter, their mother, was killed by humans some several hundred years ago. I understand that the fault lay with those responsible and not you're kind. Unfortunately they were quite young when this happened, and it was quite...traumatic for all involved. I'm afraid I've not been able to fully remove the hate from their hearts. Qellah's calm demeanor cracks once again but this time she doesn't attempt to hide her anger. She siimply pouts and turns away from her grandfather and crosses her arms in defiance, more a kin to a spoiled child being told no than the calm dignitary she seemed to be playing the part of earlier. However, what she says is true. The Lord, before his passing, had been bringing in people to hunt for sport. Not long after that armed thugs started to appear in the forest threatening my people. We may have bregudenly allowed them to settle, but they were invaders all the same. The forest is more than just our home, they are the memory of our people. And I do not know what you mean when you accuse us of murder child, it was my understanding that the previous Lord had based away due to his own hubris during a hunting accident.
A hunting accident!? You attacked our village, slaughtered our people and killed our Lord! And instead of revenge our Lady called for peace yet any time one of our people tried to get food from the woods they would be injured or killed by your scouts! Yes, the Lord hunted for sport, but he never sent anyone in the woods to harm you, and since his was killed the Lady decreed there would be no more hunting for sport allowed in the area!
At this point Alara seems to be losing her cool, and her face is bright red with anger. Evvryn looks at her is a serious look on his face, as if he were trying to determine the truth of her words. Yet he doesn't appear angry but rather concerned. Agis and Qellah seem a little nervous while the guards seem ready to act, as if anticipating things spiraling out of control.
Instead of shirking at the response from Qellah, he smiled and just waved. While not the best start to things, Nadaar knew that it was easier to start with some prior connection then none at all; even if it was an unpleasant one. He just would need to be a bit more 'mindful' with that one. As Alara spoke her piece, the Dragonborn gritted his teeth behind closed lips and had to force himself not to shake his head in disappointment. The damage done, he looked to Evvryn expecting a like note of disappointment or growing annoyance, only to turn to Qellah with a measure of surprise behind his eyes.
However, the surprise is a fleeting one. And by the end, he's pinching the bridge of his snout. Just as he's straightening out in his seat, some reply at that point ready on his draconic tongue, seeing the look from Zack gives him pause for a second too long. Unable to find a safe point to interject without showing clear signs of division in their side, Nadaar forced himself to just sit there and watch. And at first, he was on board, nodding and silently thanking Hlal for not making a fool of him for thinking less of spikey haired human than he cared to admit.
Then, things spiraled down the path he feared the most; blatant accusations without some confirmation from the other side beyond a poor interaction in the past, self-victimization -- following in Alara's footsteps -- of the people of nightstone, idle threats to sell a point, and... and it was too much. If Nadaar could sweat, he would've visibly have been doing so towards the end of Zack's impassioned speech. As things stood, he again kept his mouth tightly shut to observe the othersides reaction to it; now more ready to interject should any blades start get drawn in haste. Fortunately, it never comes to that, and seeing Alara's temper rise, he calmly placed a hand on her shoulder and motioned with the other hand for her to ease up.
Hopefully having at least mollified her, he turns to elves, and without standing up in some show of passion as Zack had at least done so, says, "It seems to me that -- to an EXTENT -- most things seem to tie back to a failure to communicate on both sides."He holds up a hand. "Not to deny your claims having made your point clear in the past. But by all accounts, the Lord then was a reckless fool at best, who after -- how many years has nightstone been under their care? A decade, at least? Maybe less?" He looks between both Alara and the elves, waiting only long enough hear before moving on.
"More than long enough to either nurture the wisdom needed for both nightstone and the Ardeep elves collective prosperity... or to have earned his fate in the end. This does not excuse the perpetrators for what happened, and I would hope both sides at the end would be willing to work together on piecing together what happened there. For make no mistake, isolation is no answer. Not to this." At this point, he looks to Agis and Qellah more pointedly and says, "You have my condolences as well, for what little that matters, my dear Sshenzo-soth. But, I cannot stress the importance of a more cooperative peace treaty. For without one, if the Nightstone of today were to fall, a far worse entity will take it's place."
"They have already sown the seeds for it in the past, or so I suspect at this point, based on what's been spoken of. The ones known as the Zhentarim. But, before we get into that for the sake of 'clearing the air', if nothing else, through the Thu'um -- magic of the voice, if you will, I can ensure all spoken beyond this point for both sides is the truth. And if both sides are willing to subject themselves to it, I will speak them now. For only once we can get to the bottom of all that has truly transpired may there be hope at least for an amicable agreement going forward." He looks to everyone expectantly, and upon being given the go ahead, scratches at his throat a few times as he begun to speak in Draconic; only it came it out sounding more musical than usual. As he did, a mix of black and golden rune-like motes of light in line winds its way around the table and those at it, and hold there.

Alara calms down slightly at Nadaars touch, sinking back into her seat she starts to relax and take some deep breaths. Unfortunately when Nadaar suggests the Lord of Nightstone was incompetent or in some way deserving of his fate she become visibly upset but doesn't say anything, allowing the dragonborn to speak his piece. It is confirmed to Nadaar that the Lord had only been here about 9 years before his death after which Lady Nandaar took over. Agis doesn't seem to react or acknowledge Naadars condolences but Qellah gives an appreciative nod that seems like it may have been sincere. Evvryn meanwhile has shifted his focus to the dragonborn, listening closely to his words and nodding along. Once Nadaar suggests the use of magic truth telling Evvryn nods and waits Alaras response. She hesitates at first but begrudgingly nods in acceptance. Once the Zone of Truth is up Nadaar can immediately tell that Evvryn has allowed himself to be affect by it. With some reluctance so does Alara. Qellah too seems to try to resist but voluntarily submits to the magic. However Agis resists and does so successfully, Nadaar is able to sense this. If Nadia and Zack wish to resist the affect it's a chance save DC 13.
Aside from a sidelong and sympathetic look, it was all Nadaar could do without recanting his words. And he silently thanked Alara for thinking of her people first. Although he knew later that hell would liable paid later for them. Sensing the magic take affect, Nadaar looked and appreciatively smiled to all except Agis. To that one, his smile broaden in interest. Whether Zack and Nadia resisted, he hardly paid them any mind either way, if only preserve certain illusions.
"Lady Alara. I know this painful and may feel ridiculous. But, what is your name -- Full name. And, say again what happened. Lord Evveryn, Lady Qellah, I would ask the same." He requested. And though nothing would change visibly in the runes to everyone else whether someone spoke a truth or lie, Nadaar would see the ones closest pulse at any attempt to initially try before inevitably being compelled to silence or speaking the truth. Once he had his baseline, he nods to each in turn. He would also ask if the 'thugs' mentioned prior were sporting tattoos or markings of a snake.
"Now Lady Qellah. Lord Evvryn. Take this not as accusation or offense, but do you have your suspicion about the culprit in regards to the attack? And if so, would they be directed to your grandson, Agis? For if not, it is odd that he would not only refuse my open invitation for the truth to be spoken, but would try to hide the fact that he resisted it without a word."His eyes narrow at Agis. "Oh yes. I can tell who has and has not resisted it. And while none of you have any reason to necessarily trust my word. As a neutral party, I have little to none to gain in duplicity. Care to explain, Lord Agis? Or would you prefer to excuse yourself from this meeting? Because if Nightstone and the elves of Ardeep are to reach an equitable position, the time for miscommunication and lack-thereof must end today."

Alara nods and clears her throat and answers honestl, though as she recounts the events she has a hard time keeping her emotionsin check but she manages. My name is Alara Winterspell. About a year ago the village had been attacked by elves. They didn't try to breach the walls or anything but just fired arrows at our guards and over the wall. A few innocent people were caught off guard and killed by stray arrows. Our Lord had been killed as well though not by any stray arrow. The one that hit him was deliberate and meant to kill. Once he died the elves retreat to the forest. Alara stares at Agis with hatred in her eyes. Though she doesn't accuse him it's clear who she suspects if the deed. Qellah hesitates to reply, she answers with her name but stutters as she is asked about what happened to the Lord. Before she can continue speaking Evvryn interjects. My name is Evvryn of the Ardeep clan of wood elves. It was told to me by my Grand daughter that the Lord of this settlement had perished in a hunting accident. However after hearing Lady Alara recount the events, and knowing that must be true, I have reason to doubt what I once thought was true. You ask if I suspect my grandson in being involved? I, unfortunately, suspect both my grandchildren. Why I believe it's likely my grandson was involved in the attack, it seems my granddaughter had lied to me about the Lord. While I doubt she was involved with the attack itself, she was no doubt complicit and failed to warn me of my foolish grandsons actions. As Evvryn speaks he closes his eyes his voice tinged with sadness but it's clear he is trying to remain calm though he refuses to look at either of the two younger elves. You can't seriously be taking their side! Agis shouts out but before he can continue Evvryn slams his fist on the table and shouts Silence! You have shamed our people and put them at risk with your foolish actions! Both of you! He glares at Qellah who turns away in shame. Both if you are to remain silent. I shall not suffer your foolishness further today. We will discuss the exact nature of your punishment later. If you cannot keep yourselves behaved then you can wait outside! Agis stands up knocking hisnchair back and staring at his grandfather with a mix of anger and disbelief. He looks around the room, pride clearly wounded and finally storms out of the room slamming the door behind him. Qellah merely sits there with her head down, hands on her lap. The room goes awkwardly silent once more.
After a brief silence Evvryn speaks up again. You ask of men with tattoos of snakes..I'm afraid we have no idea what you are talking about. Qellah, I will allow you speak to answer the question. I'll remind you of the spell in affect. Now speak girl! Qellah shakes her head no but knowing the spell ddoesn't prevent her from lying without speaking Evvryn shouts at her again. No! None of the thugs had such markings nor do I know of any who do! Evvryn nods, satisfied with the answer and says more softly. Lady Alara, I would like to formally apologize for the actions of my Grandchildren. It seems that are naught but foolish children with more hate in their hearts than sense in their heads. I assure you, If I had know of an attack I would have tried to prevent it. For while I bear no love for your kind, I do not wish to see our people war with one another either. Evvryn bows as he speaks to show he is sincere though given the magic in use it is a bit redundant.
Nadia's hope wavered when she takes notice of Alara's growing frustration throughout the first few exchange of words. The elf half anticipated this whole thing to quickly spiral out of control thereafter, but she breathes easy when she sees Zack stand and say his piece. She catches his hesitation, though quick, and while she managed to keep her visage relatively neutral, she can't help a frown crossing her lips. It fades after he continues and finishes what he had to say, her gaze now between both parties as the discussion diverged into how the Lord had passed.
Her brows knit together. A miscommunication... Of course... But then... Nadia brought her attention then to Nadaar as he begins speaking. With the suggestion of the spell, Nadia seems to have no issues, and when it is cast, she subjects herself to it willingly, not really having much to hide since this was more for them than her. Again, she listens to both sides of the story, and when the truth comes to light, her hands tighten their grip on themselves. She resists cracking a smile at Agis' childish outburst (Puto), and instead looks to Qellah, thinking.
After a moment, her lips part, and she is hesitant to speak, as she had never been the best at these altercations, never knowing when best to step in, but her curiousity got to her and she needed to know. "Lord Evvryn, if I may question your granddaughter briefly... Qellah, why did you lie to him about how the Lord was murdered? Surely you knew he would have found out the truth eventually, so... Why did you allow yourself to be an accomplice in all this?"
Evvryn nods to Nadia and allows Qellah to speak. Qellah Is still looking down in shame but finally looks up and gives Zack a hard angry stare. Because I don't care what your friend says, humans aren't to be trusted. Those thugs that were in the forest weren't just there to scare us. They were sent to destroy our home and kill our people. I've seen what their kind can do, so when I found out about Agis' plan I elected not to hinder him. I had hoped that the people would abandon the village but they did not. It's a shame the giants couldn't be bothered to finish off this horrid town. Qellah's words are practcally dripping with hate and venom. Evvryn simply shakes his head in disappointment.
Morak, who had been silent up until now finally speaks up. If ye don't mind me saying Ms, that's a load of horse shit. This town is more than just humans. We have Teiflings, halflings and meself to boot. Maybe the previous Lord didn't handle relations well, but our Lady only ever sought cooperation. Now I can't claim to know what the Lord did and didn't do, but sending thugs into the forest doesn't sound like the man I knew at all. The people here work hard and have strong hearts. You shan't be rid of us easy. This is our home as much as it is yours, and we only seek to cooperate with you're people, in honor of our late Lady and to put an end to all the bloodshed.
Zack listened to everything going on around them after his admittedly lengthy and... somewhat biased speech, ultimately had the effect he desired. it made one side out itself, and Nadaars spell only helped cement it. Whether or not the dragonborn saw it, Zack would give him an approving nod as he didn't resist the zone of truth. When Agis left in his tantrum, Zack had locked eyes with him if it had been possible. But he was glad that his initial judgment of Evv was wrong. The old man was just... cautious. But not incompetent.
Finally, Quellah speaks her true mind. Oh? Humans can't be trusted. Same old adage. You seem to apply it to the goblins too. But humans are just big, evil creatures that do nothing but destroy? Is that true Nadia? What do you have to say on this? Since you're the only elf in the neutral party here.
And when Nadia was finished, he'd add... at the end... Speaking of.. where are the goblins?

Nadia had been brushing a stray curl away from her face as he compliments her on her surprise attack. “Thanks! My dad taught me that— Ow!” She yelps out when he strikes at her, her free hand now rubbing where the weapon had connected. “I’m not saying to go easy on me, but that’s definitely gonna bruise... Jerk!” When that last word leaves her lips she attacks!
Attack: 26 Damage: 15
Zack most likely anticipated that attack, Nadia missing completely and stumbling forward. Too much momentum. “Eso estuvo muy mal. Necesitas concentrarte...” She mutters to herself, regaining balance before looking to Zack again, her eyes filled with determination.

Ma'am they're here one of the guards in the tower calls down. The elderly elf steps forward to greet Alara and bows
Greetings, I am Evvryn Hulen. This is my Grandon Agis, and this my Granddaughter Qellah. I lead the clan of elves in the forest and they are my chief advisors. It was brought to my attention by Agis that you're clan wished to speak with mine about use our forest. Are we to speak here or is there somewhere else you wish to converse, I wish to make this quick as I am not accustomed to being away from home. Alara gives a less sincere bow thats clearly more out habit than anything and says That's right. I trust our friends intend no trickery here. He gives Alara a serious look and she nods, ordering her men to stay outside as well save two of the guards you first met in Nightstone, Sydiri and Torem who are waiting inside guarding the door.
Was it some sort of magic maybe? he wondered to himself as they continued down towards the front gate.
Investigation to judge the elves: 12
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Insight: 13.
"... You'll have to tell me more this 'Red Wedding'... but later...Rillex. If you would?" He whispered to Zack and Cat each in turn, though he needed not try as hard to be heard by the latter(Rillex PasP: 15). Setting down Rillex outside the doors on that note, he carries on inside and stand at Alara's opposite side for at least a final whisper in her ears. "We are with you. But you more than have all you need to make this a success without too much interference. Have confidence." He pats her one last time on the shoulder, before taking a seat by her and across from Morak to await the opening words.

I swear the next time we see each other... Nadia stops herself from going any further on that thought and waits patiently for them to begin discussing.

Hopefully having at least mollified her, he turns to elves, and without standing up in some show of passion as Zack had at least done so, says, "It seems to me that -- to an EXTENT -- most things seem to tie back to a failure to communicate on both sides." He holds up a hand.

For if not, it is odd that he would not only refuse my open invitation for the truth to be spoken, but would try to hide the fact that he resisted it without a word." His eyes narrow at Agis.
