(( OOC: Elwin will take a long rest pretty much right away; immediately upon waking, he'll head outside, find some small creature (rat, squirrel, etc.), Hex it, kill it, and bring it inside for breakfast.
He can concentrate on the spell for 8 hours now, so if the others delay in sleeping/waking, he should be able to squeeze in a short rest while concentrating. This would leave his Hex active and still have him with both spell slots ready to go. (If they don't, that's fine; this still is now Elwin's morning ritual, just in case he ever does get the chance to recover a spell slot before trouble brews.) ))
Tori rises, refreshed, (the next morning?) and makes her way down the hall to sit at the bar.
“Hello, fellow squid slayer” she calls down to Gavin. “Any chance you could rustle up some grub for a hungry demon? Maybe some deviled eggs?”
She laughs and shakes her head, rolling her eyes.
“Do you think this drunken wizard would be able to assist us in the quest to end that Spoiled Batter Boy? If so, I’m all for breaking him out of prison. It’s so much easier to convince a man of many things when he’s a drunk… strictly relating to the mission of course!”
"Good morning X-41" she says with a yawn. "Never been better. Did you enjoy your... um... rest?"
"Once the others are ready to roll, I hope we can get an early start of either freeing this mad mage or wading through knee-deep feces. Either one sounds amazing..."
“I do not require sleep like you do, the night was mostly uneventful” he said before nodding this head “I am ready as well, I still do not look forward to dirtying my plating”

Elwin stepped in from another room, picking a last morsel of squirrel meat from his teeth before noticing the others. His belongings were already packed, and he carried them over his shoulder; his shield was already in hand. "Ah, you're up,"he noted of both of them, nodding. "I haven't seen Tam, but I'm guessing she'll be here shortly. I was just up a bit early, prepping a spell. I'm ready to leave whenever."
As the Party wakes up the next morning, Gavin is already behind his bar, cooking breakfast. He gives Elwin a weird look, as he finishes his roasted squirl on a stick...
He then sees Tam and the others.
"So, you folks are crazy enough to attempt a rescue attempt from the Planar Rangers, eh? Well then...if this works, and I stress IF...then we may yet be able to save these Lands...again, Thanicles may be batshit crazy, but his Powers could save us all..."
...and the DM goes to bed, dreaming of Magical security systems, traps, spell-casting guards and their daily routes, air vents, secret Planar sewer tunnels, and of course, everything that could possibly go wrong....😉
Tori sits down next to Tam and pulls the stool up close to the bar. Crossing her arms beneath her bosom, she pointedly sets herself down on the counter and wiggles up against Tam's shoulder, her tail twisting around the Ranger's leg.
"Save some for the rest of us!"
She flicks her forked tongue and bites her lip, giving body a little shake and giving Gavin a once over.
Whispering to Tam - "I hope he hasn't washed that squid juice off... I love caviar."
Gavin pulls out a small, tattered and beaten up leather notebook from his shirt..
"When Thanicles got arrested in my bar by the Planar Rangers, he dropped this...I've been trying to decipher it since then...i think its a journal that he's been keeping...some of it's very disturbing. The old Geezer clearly has issues. But check out this part...obviously, Thanicles has been to extra-Dimensional jail before..."
He flips through the notebook, and hands it to the Party, sliding it across the bar. The pages are in rather poor condition...
"The Spike. Talaveroth standard date: Loreday, the 2nd of Winterminth, Year 2512 of the Third Age (OOC Twenty years ago).
1st day of captivity: They've taken all my wondrous items, wands, potions and doomsday devices...I will most likely never recover them. What a pity, and waste of good work. But thankfully I've got hiding places none of these idiots have the stones to search....the journey was...painful to say the least, but they never found you, dear diary...or the scrolls I hid in you...I might not even need all of them if I do this right...
(A few pages seem to have been ripped off, but inside the diary, the Players find a scroll of Invisibility, Knock, and Passwall)
A few pages later, after many ramblings about life and alcohol addiction:
"Fifteenth day of captivity: I've managed to find a few weaknesses to this place. But they had to move me to maximum Security after my escape attempt. Still got the notebook though. Note to self...do NOT mess with the wall torches. The Spike is a Plane of its own, but it is strongly connected to the Elemental Planes, and uses their energy to power the whole prison complex. The communication and messaging system is connected to the Plane of Air. The trash disposal and defense system are connected to the plane of Fire. The Cells themselves are connected to the Plane of Earth. And the sceptic tank, as well as sewage system, are connected to the Plane of Water..."
On the next page, a complex map shows a giant building looking like a downwards Spike. From top to bottom, you can read captions, pointing to main sections of the Complex. Each section seems to be connected by "gravity wells"
1)Warden's quarters
2)Surveillance/Communication chamber
3) Vault/Evidence room
4)Minimal security Block
5)General population Block
6)Maximum Security Block (this section has a corner of it circled, and a caption sayin "You are here")
7) Guard quarters
8) Sewers
The whole map is also surrounded by tiny Arcane scribblings.
Anyone may roll an Arcana check DC 20 to try and decipher them....
Tori looks the scrolls over meticulously before sighing and sliding the Invisibility scroll towards Edwin. "Looks like we're going to need a powerful Wizard to make any use of these two Entry spells. At least you'll be invisible when we're all being butchered though, Elwin."
"I don't know about the rest of you, but it sounds like I'll be heading in through the trash disposal. I do love a good backdoor entry! "
She runs her fingers around the corners of the map and furrows her brow and tries to make it out.

Elwin raised an eyebrow as he took and examined the scroll. It was indeed an invisibility spell; quite useful for infiltration. He glanced at the other two, but couldn't discern their meaning.
The scribblings on the map were also beyond him. He sighed. It was bad enough that, rather than a sewer, they were now talking about descending into an interplanar prison. Elwin guessed that there would likely be threats far worse than Mind Flayers there. But what he really wanted to know...
"So, I've just gotta ask, folks.... anyone here know how to get to this place? Or how to get back out once we manage to sneak in?" He had other questions too, of course, but he stopped himself from just dumping them all at once. Better to test the waters and see how the basic stuff was handled first.
He glanced around at the others, scrutinizing their responses, wondering what exactly he was walking into.
Tam is the closest to decipher Thanicles's incomprehensible scribbles. They are definitely written in the Arcane Language...and it looks like they might be coordinates....planar coordinates...
Gavin scratches his beard....
"If they are coordinates, then maybe someone at the Grand Observatory, on the High Peak, might be able to help us..."
