A slow smile spreads across Athela's face. "Oh, you'd think it, but in fact trouble just keeps seeming to find us..." she says, the curiosity in her eyes giving way to something like amusement.
Willow rolls her eyes at Athela's comment and laughs. "I'd say. And just because your older doesnt mean I can't be the protector as well. " She elbows Athela with an amused smile. She then looks to Mia and tilts her ears slightly. "It does seem you find the right group then. Join the festivities of the 'crew's. We'll be seeing a lot more of you from now on."

Mia couldn't help but let out a hearty laugh from the dynamics of these ladies at the table. She was delighted and she'd bow her head again out of habit, "Thank you for the welcome." Then she'd look to Cora, "The Medani are well informed and well connected. The Guild provides bodyguards, inquisitives and sentries for hire all across Khorvaire."
Athela's eyes glitter. "Indeed, your House is reputed for their information gathering and assessment capabilities. Has Angelica done something suspicious? Or perhaps there is something about the ship itself that has piqued the interest of the Warning Guild?"
Mia would give in and look to Cora with a nod. "I don't plan to do anything. I would like to learn for myself and report back what's heresay and what isn't." I simply desire to avoid another bloody war.
Willow interlaces her fingers slightly and rests her chin on them. "As long as you don't plan on blowing up the whole ship, then you're fine by me. I just prefer not to die from a fiery ball of airship explosion caused by someone we let on board." Her ears twitch a little as she surveys Mia, trying to discern if she is telling them the full truth.

"I understand your skepticism. Who am I to come in here with no proof of my identity?" Mia would stand from her seat and turn her back to the girls. She'd reach over to her shoulder to begin unstrapping and removing her armour, placing it on the chair beside her. Once in her linen under shirt, she'd reach around to the back of it and pull it down to bare the back of her neck and shoulders. The half elf was revealing her Mark of Detection that sat far below the nape of her neck, almost between her shoulder blades. But there was more than just her mark... scars. Lots. And not done by a blade... Whip lashings.
Mia would pull out a folded up letter from the inside of her hip, turn around and slide it on the table towards Athela, making eye contact. "It's a letter from my house to Angelica. I hope this is enough to satisfy your questions." Her eyes would waver from the long exposure of vulnerability, but she'd look back to return Willows stare. She was being 100% sincere, she would mean no harm to them, perhaps the complete opposite.
While Athela reads the letter, Mia will begin strapping back into her armour.
Willow leans back in her chair and offers Mia a reassuring smile. "Well, you're fine by my book. What about the rest of you?" She glances around the table before moving to offer Mia some of her coconut smoothie, moving back into her bag to fetch her sketchbook, pulling her knees up to rest it comfortably to doodle in. Her ears fold back slightly with focus.

Athela meets Mia's eyes with her own gaze, all trace of humor gone, leaving only serious respect in her green eyes. She gives Mia a single nod that acknowledges what the demonstration cost her, then reads the letter carefully, glancing up at the others as she finishes with a simple, completely confident, "It's real. She's fully backed by her House and authorized to join the crew." Her voice is totally sure, as if she's familiar with such documents. After a moment, she returns her gaze to Mia, the faintest of smiles touching her features as she returns the letter to the half-elf. "Welcome to the crew...Mia." The switch to the informal first name is noticeable. "We'll be delighted to have you, although I don't know if the same will be said for Angelica. Perhaps in apology for our suspicion and...general prickliness, I can buy your next drink?" She raises an eyebrow, a little of the sparkle back in her eye.
Oooh, she does have a mark!! Definitely not like mine though... Bea rested her hand on her chin as she awaited the paladin's answer to Cora's question. The blonde tried her hardest to remember what Alexi had told her about the differing houses, but the amount of alcohol in her system had just started kicking in and was hazing up her memory. Mmm... Maybe later.

Mia would look to Cora with a hard expression and return her bluntness, “I was caught and held captive during the last war. Men took their turns lashing me for information and ****** me for a chance at my bloodline.”
Cora remained silent. She remembered the scars she used to have herself. The physical, and the emotional ones. Mostly because of the drinking, she lowered her head slightly and perhaps even felt bad for Mia. Even her name sounded like a redhead's that she met thousands of years ago. It brought up memories like the vomit she puked up on the table from losing the drinking game. She wanted to forget all of those memories. It was amazing how something so distant could still affect her after so long. She looked down at herself and noticed once again that the scars she obtained from her previous life had been magically removed, but the spiritual ones still remained.
It's possible the tiniest trace of anger enters Athela's eyes, but she keeps her emotions behind an expertly crafted mask of calm. If it was Cyrans...well, there's not really anything I can do now, is there? Maybe before...but not now. Besides, if they were Cyrans, they probably died in the Mourning. She gives Mia another small nod, neatly filing her questions away for either later or never. "Thank you," she says softly. "And as I said before. Welcome to the crew, Mia."
Bea was taken aback at the response being just as blunt as Cora was. "I'm sorry to hear that, darlin'..." was all she could muster up to say with the tension that had settled at the table now. Despite having some girls at the hive have been victim to such a traumatic event, she never truly knew how to handle it. It was a coping mechanism for them, working at her establishment, and deep down the blonde only hoped it was actually helping them, not hindering them. She kept quiet as her hand slid to interlace Cora' fingers with hers, giving the other a light squeeze to making it known that whatever it was keeping her silent, Bea was there to support her.

Cora held Bea's hand. It was a loving hold, and it made Cora think of other things than her past. She looked up and gave Bea an affectionate stare, and dared not to kiss her before brushing her teeth and mouth washing. "Alright."Cora said, turning to Mia. "I agree. Why not."

"Whoa, whoa, wait a secUrRprpPond." Cora said, or half burped. "You know the Celestial No hair's captain? And how do you know we're part of her crew?"

"Why do you have scars on your back." Cora would ask, bluntly.
