Cora was about to answer, when something happened.
An explosion below rocked the ship, then, a horrible sense of vertigo.A quick glance out the window shows the clouds streaking by, but not from right to left as you’re used to. They’re hurtling upwards. You’re falling out of the sky.
When you emerge onto the ship’s deck, you all start to slowly float upward as the ship drops out of the sky. Four crew members are clinging to the ship’s burning struts. Without the struts to keep it in place, the ship’s elemental ring has begun to gutter and warp—it’s clear that the unstable elemental will collapse completely if it’s not stabilized.
Angelica’s voice barely reaches you over the sound of rushing wind. She looks down at you from the ship’s helm. “All hands on deck! Whatever you can do to save our hides, do it now!”
We've got to take some action to save the ship. Look at the chart below for some ideas of what you can do, and the rolls you can make. All of the DCs are 12. You can attempt as many as you'd like once, and work together, and attempt different tasts, but we're going to need 10 successes total from everyone to make sure we don't all die lol.
Calm the panicking crew, setting them to work saving the ship.

Help Demetrius d’Lyrandar pilot the ship towards Lake Cyre to avoid a crash landing.
Wisdom (Perception) or an Intelligence check made with navigator’s tools. Succeeding on this check also gives another character advantage on their check to activate the glide wings, as the ship’s flight becomes less turbulent.
Activate the emergency glide-wings, slowing the ship’s descent.
Strength (Athletics) or a Dexterity check made with thieves’ tools The Celeste Noir is equipped with retractable wings made of canvas and wood, which helps it glide to safety in a disaster like this. Pulling a heavy lever at the helm can activate them, as can using thieves’ tools to disassemble the latching mechanism that keeps the wings retracted, causing them to spring forth.
Go belowdecks to find and activate the ship’s landing gear.
Wisdom (Survival) or Intelligence (Investigation). The character must follow directions to go into the maze-like lower decks and find the lever that engages the ship’s experimental landing gear. Doing so will help the ship make a safer landing.

Athela goes deathly pale when she rolls out onto the deck and sees Lake Cyre spread out below them. "Cyre...we're above Cyre..." she whispers, frozen with grief and horror for a moment before she snaps herself out of the memories, quickly making sure her sister is also focused and leaping (metaphorically) into action.
"Willow, try and find the source of the malfunction, then give Demetrius a hand! Cora, get the gliding wings out with Vignette, then grab Bea's help for the ring! Get another strut up if you have time! Vignette, join Demetrius and Willow at the helm!" She turns a blazing gaze onto the crew. "If a cripple can help, so can you!"

"Come on, Vinegar, we've got work to do!"Cora said, and both of them hustled to the retractable wings. She looked at the level. It looked heavy. "Ok, here we go, help me pull this up! Ready? Go!"They both grabbed it and heaved.

After helping Cora successfully extend the retractable wings, Vignette deftly sprints over to find Demetrius and helps him pilot the ship towards Lake Cyre. Demetrius d’Lyrandar is able to get the ship under control long enough to land safely on the banks of Lake Cyre. One of the ship’s engineers is able to reinforce the binding on the bound fire elemental enough to keep it from breaking free of its binding and going berserk. Though the ship is stable for now, it’s not in flying condition. Demetrius suggests sailing across Lake Cyre to reduce stress on the elemental ring’s fragile struts. Nevertheless, the damage to the ship necessitates a stop in Gatherhold for repairs. Angelica reveals that she has a House Cannith contact who could help repair the Celeste Noir, hopefully while keeping her on-schedule to complete her journey around Khorvaire in fifty days.
Athela is panting lightly as the ship lands safely. Glancing at the lake around them, she pushes back another wave of horror as she wheels herself over to Angelica. "Lady d'Sivis," she says with icy politeness. "Do you know what actually happened, and if so, would you care to share? Do we need to be on our guards for a saboteur in the crew?"
Athela nods. "We need to check the ship's hold," she says to the others grimly, quickly rolling herself below deck without waiting for a response or to see if the others are following her.
Willow:
Willow would know this is very out of character for Athela. She's usually much more level headed and calm. She only gets this single minded and reckless when she's particularly upset.
Willow studies Athela for a second before moving to follow after her. "I'll help her. You guys keep watch perhaps? Figure out a plan?" She then heads below deck after Athela, following her for a minute before moving to walk beside her if possible.
