OOC Does it make no difference that there are two attacks happening at once. I would have thought that increased the odds of success.
[OOC: That was taken into account with the roll being at Advantage. Unfortunately, the rolls were both 3. If you hover your cursor over where that roll first appears the browser should show you the two rolls.
If you use Hero Points to try to increase the result of the Intimidation roll and can increase the value by 6, then two stirges will have failed the roll. The average for two dice should be 7, meaning Guilliame and Velma would then only have 1 stirge to deal with. There is also the possibility of getting 10, which would mean all the stirges would have been driven off. You can also roll the Hero Point dice one at a time and stopping when you achieve the result you want.]

Because of the darkness, I am going to increase the amount of experience awarded, but share it equally between Guilliame and Velma. I have therefore added 60 experience points to Guilliame's character sheet.]
In the last flare of Velma's shower of sparks, Guilliame sees the stirges all flying away in a panic south towards the river.
"Have they gone? Are you alright?" asks Velma anxiously once darkness descends on them again.

[OOC: The spell is there, the issue is that Guilliame now has 4 spells that need to be prepared, but he can only prepare 3 of them at his current level (an artifact of the Vancian magic system used for non-ritual spells). Also, Wizards can only change their prepared spells after a long rest, which Guilliame hasn't had yet since he learned this spell (earlier today). In the morning, you will need to decide which three of the following spells you want Guilliame to have prepared: Burning Hands, Charm Person, Expeditious Retreat, and Protection from Evil and Good. However, if you tell me which spell you want to replace with Expeditious Retreat, I will do that for you now.
Note. You don't have to prepare ritual spells as long as you don't mind taking the extra 10 minutes to cast the spell. However, you can cast them faster if you make them a Prepared spell.]
Grab some phosphorus (or whatever Guilliame uses) and cast the dancing lights as before.

[OOC: The stirge did 5 damage in its first attack and would have automatically done damage if Velma hadn't removed it on her turn. Guilliame would still have a puncture in clothing and be bleeding, but not enough to take any further damage. It looks worse than it really is.]

"I don't know," says Velma as she lead him on through the poorer houses of the area. In a short while, they reach the side road where she parted from him last time he walked her home and she leads him down into an even poorer area. Velma's home, when they reach it, is little more than a two-room shack, but it at least has a light on inside.
"This is it," she says, looking a little embarrassed. "Come in and I'll see if I can find something to bandage your wound."
Entering the shack, Guilliame's four dancing lights easily overpower the single candle that is sitting on the battered looking table. Looking around, he can see a small fireplace containing some dying embers over which there is a metal rack with a pot and a kettle on it. There are also a couple of rickety-looking shelves packed with everything from kitchen utensils to folded clothing. He then notices a sleeping pallet in one corner and a badly fitting door that must lead into another room.
Velma gets Guilliame to sit down on one of the two chairs at the table and then heads over to the fireplace and brings back the kettle, a rough earthenware bowl and a cloth. She pours water into the bowl from the kettle and then, using her Prestidigitation spell a number of times, heats the water until it starts to lightly steam.
"Do you need help taking off your coat and shirt?" she asks. "We need to wash the wound before I can bandage it."

"Velma?" calls a female voice from behind the door into the other room. "Is that you?"
"Yes, Mama," replies Velma, looking at Guilliame before adding, "I'm here with a friend."
"Nasty weather, eh? Making my bones ache, so I'll be staying abed," calls the older woman after a brief pause.
"Goodnight, Mama," says Velma. "We'll keep things quiet."
Velma then turns to Guilliame and with a little smile says, "She's dying to know who I've brought home—it doesn't happen often."

Velma continues to work on the wound in Guilliame's side and it is soon covered by a pad of material and a bandage made from a torn-up sheet that is wrapped all the way around Guilliame's chest.
"There," she says, tightening the last knot. "That will hopefully see you through until you can get someone to look at it properly." Velma then pauses for a moment before saying, "I want to thank you for walking me home. I don't know what I would have done if they'd attacked me and I was on my own."
She then lean in a kisses Guilliame.
