"I learnt it from a book at the school. Have you been back as an alumni?"

Dworkin laughs and asks, "Is an... alumni some sort of special magus?"

However, before Guilliame can say anything, Dworkin says, "Melitta got me into this magick thing, once she found out that I had the gift for it."

"Well if you want to learn that little trick I can teach you. By the way have you heard anything from Alaric Brand of late?"

[OOC: FYI, According to the rules as written, Wizards can teach other spells between levels, but not cantrips. They can only be  changed when you go up a level.]

"Brand?" says Dworkin. "No. I haven't see that young bravo since Ilbarsis. Is he in Constantine?"

"I don't think so but I'm trying to track him down. If you hear from him can you let me know."

[OOC: By this time, Guilliame's Minor Illusion cantrip would have run its course.]

Dworkin gives a non-committal nod and then perches himself on the edge of the table.

After taking another swig from his tankard, he asks, "So, if you are no longer in the adventuring business, are you a magus for hire? You did say you would be interested in hearing my proposition."

"I'm certainly curious but I have some commitments now so I'll have to think about it. What do you have in mind?"

Dworkin smiles and then begins to tell the tale of a silver mine upriver that closed down recently because of a cave in. According to Dworkin's source—a nubian, apparently, from New Nineveh who is down on his luck and looking at this as a way to recover his fortunes—a large quantity of processed silver is to be found somewhere in the abandoned mine for those daring enough to clear out a tribe of kobolds who have recently taken up residence.

"It would be like old times, Guilliame," he says to finish off his story. "Are you sure you are not interested?"

"How long would you expect to be away?"

"Not sure," says Dworkin casually. "I have been told it is not far, but not the details. At a guess, I would say a tenday."

He then indicates the scattered scholarly materials he pushed aside on the table and says, "But Melitta wants me out of her hair so she can do some research, and I am going crazy just sitting around doing nothing." Then he adds, "Come on, it will be fun."

OOC What, fi anything, does Guilliame know about the relationship between Melitta and Wamzut, and Dworkin and Wamzut (if any). 

[OOC: From conversations he would have had with Skinny Kol and Brand (or perhaps Phil's other character Siglinde???), I believe Guilliame would know that both Melitta and Dworkin met Wamzut in his previous form as an old man. However, it is unlikely they met Wamzut as Attina because they left Ilbarsis before Attina showed up. From memory, Guilliame stayed in Ilbarsis for some time after the party split up and was then contacted by Wamzut (as Attina). I seem to remember that Guilliame and Attina travelled together at one point, which was when it was discovered that Guilliame was an innate sorcerer. And that was well after Dworkin disappeared with the ring and was followed south by Melitta.

OOC My recollection is Guilliame met Attina for the first time running out of the school when she introduced herself and Wamzut had given Guilliame the band and arranged to go to the school. I'll have a track back and try to confirm.

[OOC: There isn't any record of Guilliame meeting Attina before he saw her running out of the School in this forum. I was remembering something that happened years ago in a tabletop gaming session; I have a distinct memory of Attina and Guilliame standing at the top of a rise and being charged by a group of goblins.

Anyway, perhaps it would be better if we just forgot about that memory of mine and have Wamzut, in his old body, being the one that discovered Guilliame was a latent sorcerer, and that it was after Guilliame left Ilbarsis and returned to Constantine to attend the School that Wamzut changed bodies. That would make things easier all round.

In which case, it is definitely the case that neither Dworkin or Melitta would know that Wamzut was now Attina.]

"When were you planning to go. I have a few short term commitments and I'll have to tee things up with my people."

"We are still looking for people," replies Dworkin, sounding keen. "Why not come with me now and meet up with my contact. He will have a better idea of when we will be ready."

"Come on," he adds. "Meet someone new, have a drink—my shout—what is there to lose?"

"I'm starting a new job tonight so probably best to turn up drunk on the first day. Can we meet up tomorrow, for lunch, perhaps?"

[OOC: I'm sure you meant the first part of the above sentence the other way, but it was funny when I first read it.]

"Starting a new job? Tonight?" says Dworkin, sounding confused. "What sort of job? Surely they will want you here in the city, so how will you be able to come away with us?"

"I hadn't realised it was starting tonight. Sorry, I definitely can't make it. Good luck though."

"No, no," says Dworkin, shaking his head. "The job is not starting tonight. I just do not understand why you think you will be able to join us if you have a regular job to go to. We will likely be away from the city for a good number of days."

Before Guilliame has the chance to respond, he and Dworkin both hear the calling of the sixth candle since dawn; it is now lunchtime.
