"Well done you," says Brock, as he begins slapping his one good hand upon the top of the bar.

When it becomes clear that no one is going to join in with his one-handed attempt at applause, Brock stops, glares around the room at all the people looking at him curiously and then says brusquely, "Handleader, come over here and let me buy you and your offsider a drink for your efforts."

"Much appreciated Master Brock. An ale for me."

For Guilliame:

Showing exceptional skill for a one-handed man, Brock quickly grabs out two wooden mugs and begins to fill one of them from a large barrel.

As he does this, he looks at Guilliame and asks, "The same for you, sir?"

"Sounds good to me."

To Dora "I could check the flask a bit quicker if you like but I would need to take it back to my house. We could try to track down the owner to night then perhaps."

Brock hands Dora her mug and starts to fill one for Guilliame. While doing so, he speaks casually to Guilliame, saying, "So you are a magus? What brings you to working with the Watch?"

"Sorry Master Brock, but before we talk, a toast to a fallen colleague ..."

I raise my mug and watch Brock "Rest in peace Seeker Harlan."

Brock's reactions are best represented by the description and actions that follow.

Brock has no drink at hand and remains silent as Dora finishes her toast.

Then, after glancing at Guilliame, Brock says, "Meaning no disrespect Handleader, but I am surprised that you—as both a woman and a Stemian—feel anything for the death of that woman-chasing Sorendenese fop."

Then his eyes turn shrewd and he says, "Or is this supposed to be some sort of test?"

[OOC: Andrew, For the record, does Guilliame return Dora's toast?]

"Aye, that he was and not well liked but he was on my mind tonight and I needed to lay those thoughts at rest."

"So be it," says Brock, softening a little. "I did not like the man but I suppose we should give some respect to anyone who died in the course of their duty."

Brock then turns away to tend to another customer who has approached the bar.

For Guilliame:

"The best thing you can say about the seekers is they are a mixed lot. There is one less one the bad side now. Have you heard anything about the background?"

I stare into my mug trying to find answers. 

Quietly to Guilliame "when you sign off tonight, take the flask with you on the conditions that you don't kill yourself and that you have it back to me by my shift's end in the morning."

Louder to Brock "Ho Master Brock, are the young pair with the spears settled in here tonight?"

For Guilliame:

In answer to Dora's question, Brock nods to the corner where Dora last saw Canna and Wilma.

[OOC: Canna and Wilma have spread out blankets next to the fireplace and Canna already seems to be a sleep.]

"Dora. If you think finding out about this flask is important to do soon I live nearby. I can do it tonight."

"You are keen and maybe it is that you know something already about the flask. We will go together to your place. One of the tenets of the watch is that you work with a partner - look what happened to Seeker Harlan working alone. Drink up."

I take a mighty swig and wipe the froth from my face. Loudly "thanks again Master Brock".

"Thank you sir. An interesting night."

To Dora "Can we use the lantern for light. I'd like to have some element of surprise with the magic if something comes up."

Tell Dora generally where we are headed. "Is there anywhere on the way we should check on the way there?"

[OOC what is Dora's "beat"? What other places in the Scholar's Ward should Dora introduce to Guilliame?]

Guilliame takes a swallow of the ale that Brock has given him and then starts chatting with Dora about where he wants to go to do his magic.

[OOC: Guilliame lives in the more heavily populated southern part of the island near the School of Occult Studies. His family owns a store, Masterful Mixtures, and they live on premises.

Realistically, Guilliame's home is closer to the Sheriff's Office than the guard post where Dora is currently assigned (there only two guard posts on the northern island), but she doesn't think there will be any issues with going to Guilliame's home in the course of her duty.

Presumably, he needs something that is at his home to do the magick he wants to do.
