"Magi?" says Samel in surprise. "I do not know any of the magi. I am scared of them."

This last at least seems legitimate. There is some signs of fear for the magi in his voice (something common amongst Stemians), but given his previous answers there might be other things that he is more concerned about and he might be using this fear to try to give what he is saying some authority.

Also, in this campaign setting, the general terms for users of magick are 'magus' and 'magi'. There are also specific titles for different types of magic users. For example, Guilliame is a magus, and for those who know the difference, he is also a wizard.

"The young master came to the inn engaged in competition, left after winning, then returned after having been assaulted, then left again. When did he order you to wait behind the tank"

"Did he?" says Samel, suddenly looking even more anxious. "... Please do not tell him, but I fell asleep. He must have come out when I was not watching."

Then he adds, "He told me to go outside and keep watch after he beat that sailor. He told me that he did not like the look of the man and his friends."

 "It is valuable," says Samel. "... He will take its worth out of my hide, if I do not have it when I get home."

[OOC: While the flask is clearly valuable, the last statement is just icing on the cake, said on the spur of the moment as a desperate attempt to get some sympathy from Dora.]

[OOC: A grey area. As Shari is part of the Mithran tradition, technically she is not covered by the king's recent decree outlawing non-Mithran religions. Also, some of the sacrifices made by her followers are not socially acceptable, and when this happens the individuals involved face the laws of the land.

[OOC: It seems like Andrew wants Guilliame to start on his second spell, which will take a little over ten minutes to cast as a ritual in world. This means you can either continue to question Samel, or do something else. You could even interrupt Guilliame, if you like. Trade information about what you have found out so far. It is up to you.

I am also happy for you to say that Dora waits until Guilliame finishes the second spell before talking to him. You just need to tell me what you want to do with Samel during that time you are waiting.

"Samel, something that puzzles me is that your job was to keep watch, and then presumably to accompany the young master home. So why did he give you the flask? It is hardly a great burden. He could have easily carried such a valuable item himself. After all he did not give you his gold?. Have you carried the flask for the young master on previous occasions? 

 For Dora:

As she is speaking, Dora sees Samel expression become worried and then less so. He then slowly nods his head and says, "Yes, he did not want anyone to find it on him, if he were searched... I think perhaps he was cheating in the competition."

[OOC: Dora gets the impression that Samel is using every opportunity that she presents him to stop her finding something out.]
