"Barrus, the word of a young servant against his masters will not automatically be treated as truth. Rather I think it will be regarded with suspicion and tested thoroughly. I think if anything justice will err on the side of the Hazluks. But thankfully judgement is not our job - lets leave it to those who are paid to do it. Our job now is to see our prisoner safely through the night."
"But what evidence does he have to back up his wild story?" asks Barrus and then after a moment he adds, "We do not even know if he is actually a servant of the Hazluks. He could be making the whole thing up based on what he heard and saw earlier this evening... Something just does not sit right with me about this whole thing."

"Its true that it may all be a massive fantasy but there are things that you do not know and that I really don't want to spread around unnecessarily. I want to be discreet in case these allegations are unfounded and that they damage the reputation of the House of Hazluk. Now are you reconciled to that because we really need to keep a careful watch here."
Most role playing is done at a table with everyone sitting around being privy to what is happening with everyone's character and players role playing in the circumstances where things happen that their characters shouldn't know about. At least that is what should happen, but it is understandably very hard not to make use of this out-of-world information when it would be detrimental to the character not to do so.
In this medium—because it is possible and as something of an experiment—I have been trying to keep information that should only be known to one of the player's characters unknown to the other through the use of the 'Spoiler' feature of the forum. When that hasn't been used, I would hope that the players realise when they should and shouldn't use such information (I will also be keeping tabs to prevent out-of-character information being used).
However, I would still like people to use the 'Spoiler' feature when they want to do things where the other player can't possibly know what is going on and also when they want to communicate privately with me about some aspect of their character they don't want to share. Also note that the non-player characters live by these same rules. Case in point, we have seen recent examples of where both Luca and Barrus have acted in particular ways because those characters were unaware of certain information because they were not present when those facts were revealed to the rest of the hand.
With regard to the specifics of Dora's interaction with Barrus, Guilliame is currently in the cabin with Samel and is therefore unlikely to be aware the conversation is even taking place seeing as Dora went to Barrus after Guilliame entered the cabin. In this case, the information isn't all that important, but Andrew should have Guilliame act as though he is unaware that the conversation took place—unless I say otherwise. Please note that this also means that Alice, and perhaps more importantly Samel, are also unaware of the details of the conversation.

In answer to Dora's question about whether he can be reconciled with her decision, Barrus once more shrugs and says, "Sure. It is my job to help keep the peace and so I will. I just hope this all does not turn out to be a made up story and we all end up looking like fools."

"No worries, boss. Would you like some tabac?" asks Barrus, proffering Dora a small leather pouch. "I find it takes the edge off and helps me think clearly."
[OOC: As Dora and Barrus don't have a history—as such—that I can draw on, let's assume that the tabac is a new thing for Barrus so Dora can respond however you like, in line with how you think Dora would. For instance, she doesn't mind drinking on duty and tabac (seehere) shouldn't have a deleterious effect on anybody's performance.
What Barrus is offering Dora is effectively a piece of chewing gum with finely shredded tabac leaf in it.]

Guilliame turns away from the window but couldn't help hearing some of what passed between Dora and Barrus (see above pieces of conversation that weren't hidden).
Samel is now back on the bed with his back pressed into the corner staring at Guilliame uncertainly.
[OOC: Based on the previous Insight check, Guilliame is convinced that—despite the possible threat to his life—the young man will try to escape, if given the opportunity.]

As Dora is considering whether or not to accept the offer of tabac from Barrus, the two of them hear the sound of approaching horses.
Looking south in the direction of the rest of the city, Dora sees an expensive-looking carriage being pulled by two horses approaching the guard post. Above the driver's head there are two lanterns shining with the same sort of light as the magical eternal flame that sits atop the post above the stairs up to the platform of the guard post.
"Here comes the sheriff," says Barrus in surprise as he pulls himself up from his slouch against the wall. "What is he doing out at this time of night?"
[OOC: For possible future reference, here is a link to the World Anvil page for the sheriff.]
Go over and listen carefully at the shutters (just in case).
