"All we do when we make a raid is drive the Black Magickers underground. We really need to engage the best minds in the kingdom to work out a better and longer term solution. Just for the sake of debate, perhaps legalisation for citizens of legal age."
"So, when do we expect the Seeker to arrive?" asks Sheriff Tambor. Then, looking down at his formal attire, he adds, "And I am not dressed appropriately."

AKA: Phillip Berrie: writer, editor and academic thrillseeker—a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Dora's next comment then makes him look up in surprise and say, "That makes no sense. It was the king's recent decree that forced the crackdown... And them into hiding. You more than most would have seen how many people left the city because they could no longer worship who they wanted."
[OOC: Before your time playing, but Sheriff Tambor is correct, if you consider black magicians as followers of unsanctioned religious traditions, which in a lot of cases they are. The king's recent declaration outlawing non-MIthran religions did force many Stemian to leave the city rather than give up their rights to worship their own gods. If you want to take this statement back, I am happy to, especially seeing as Dora is herself a Stemian and not of the Mithran faith.]

"We await advice from the Temple, I've sent two men to request the Seeker's assistance."
[OOC: Statement retracted.]
"Good," says the sheriff. "Well then, I will away and take Magus de Guilliame home. Then I will change and come back as soon as I can. Please ask the Seekers to await for my return."
He then turns expectantly to look back at Guilliame.

"Good," says the sheriff before turning back to Dora. "Then we shall be away Handleader, and I will be back as soon as I can."
So saying, he climbs back into the carriage and holds the door open for Guilliame to enter.
[OOC: Paul, If this is where the two characters are going to part company for a significant period of time, then I will start up a new forum thread for Dora so as to avoid having to overuse spoilers.]

The sheriff pauses for but a moment before saying, "Of course." Then he calls up to the driver, "Felicia. Turn us around and, once Magus de Marchant joins us, do not spare the horses on the way back."
The driver then urges the horses forward looking for a suitable place to turn the carriage around.
[OOC: Dora and Guilliame can now retire to the cabin, if they wish. But remember Samel is in there. Perhaps somewhere outside would be more private.]

"Alright, lets take a punt. IBut we will tell him here in front of both of us and we hold on to the witness and the flask for the Seeker to examine. Agreed?"
As this whispered (I assume) conversation is going on, Barrus and Alice—who is standing guard at the door of the cabin—are both watching on with interest and perhaps waiting for the farewell that has been promised.

[OOC Yes whispered and as we walk to steps. Alice is still guarding the door though.]
[OOC: Sigh. The above is actually impossible because, when the sheriff's carriage arrived, Guilliame was just opening the door of the cabin on his way out from talking with Samel and Dora was down on the road talking with Barrus. If you look at the map, you will see the two of you were twenty feet apart, which is why I wanted you to use spoilers.
The whispered conversation could occur when you both meet at the steps, which is where I will assume it is happening.]

[OOC Okay, I am starting to get a sense now that precision is important. Sorry to give you the first sigh of the day. Hope not too many more.]
[OOC: I try to be as precise as possible; it's actually good practice for my writing. However, it is also important for me as the game master to know exactly what is going on and this medium, where we are using asynchronous texts to communicate, has both advantages and disadvantages in that regard.
The reasons for the sigh are manifold: there is a map that gives some idea of the distances between the two characters; there have also been descriptions of a cabin with walls, walls, which even prevented Guilliame even knowing the sheriff was coming until he opened the door; there are also people who the players might not want overhearing what is being said (i.e., Samel for one).
For these reasons, and perhaps others the players aren't privvy to, I need to make sure of what can actually happen and what is actually happening so that I know how to run the non-player characters. Case in point, if the whispered conversation were to be held in or near the cabin door, Samel might indeed overhear what was being said (he would get a Perception check).
]
For Guilliame:
[OOC: Speaking of the above constraints, Guilliame now has the opportunity to let Dora know that Samel was looking at trying to escape. This hasn't been possible before.]

[OOC I can be more precise but it is going to slow things down a hell of a lot as I back-check movements of characters and refer to background material and even construct verbal communications that sound like a technical manual.
I had no intention of talking in the cabin, and I am familiar with the floor plan hence my earlier OOC that there was a desk and chair there for stated purpose of writing reports. My intention was to get some distance from the sheriff so I could ask Guilliame what the hell he was doing given he had earlier stated so clearly that he did not think we should trust the Sherrif. I also question the fact that Guilliame is only available for part of the watch and that I have no idea at any point how long it is before he leaves.
As the game goes on I am beginning to doubt Guilliame as he is very changeable and I can't count on him maintaining a stated or agreed course of action. As I previously remarked I have realised that it is best to leave him to his own devices unless absolutely essential that he follows orders.
It also raises a lot of questions about Guillliame that when Dora was in pursuit across the stockyards he chose to stay in the safety of the inn. Which well may have endangered Dora.]
