"I'm working tonight, so maybe not, thanks. Sorry for being late."

Fini sits back down before saying, "Your grandmother tells me you are working with the Watch. She insist it is not for the money, but I would have thought that a journeyman of the School of Occult Studies should be able to find many more safer ways of helping the community."

Meanwhile, Granny Naomi has gotten to her feet and taken food bowls over to the stove and begun ladling out the rabbit stew. "Takes after his father, he does," she says without turning around. "Jon could not stand being cooped up in the shop and was always looking for some excuse to get out and about."

"Working in the Watch works both ways. I'm trying to do the right thing by the citizens but also trying to restrain the worst excesses of the watch, if I can. We'll see how it goes."

Fini is quiet for a moment and then nods and says, "Thank you for that. Though it is the Mithrans, not the Watch, that you need to worry about. They are the ones who will be the ones stirring up trouble now that the king has given into their demands."

Granny Naomi brings two bowls across to the table. She puts on down in front of Master Fini and the other on the side of the table closest to where Guilliame is standing. "Let us not talk about such unsavoury things at the dinner table please," she says. "Meals should be times of good cheer." She then turns back to the stove to fill her own bowl.

"Naomi has the right idea," says Master Fini. He then looks up expectantly at Guilliame and asks, "I do not know which gods, if any, you follow, but do you mind if I bless this meal in the name of Liluri?"

"No problem at all. Thank you."

Fini nods and then waits for both Granny and Guilliame to be properly seated at the table before dedicating the meal to Liluri of the Sacred River.

Fini's words are short and to the point, but Guilliame can't help but feel a palpable feeling of peace come over the room. In silence, the three start eating.

Granny has excelled herself as this is the best rabbit stew Guilliame has had for ages.

[OOC: Fini seems uninterested in raising the issue of the stock in his store. Perhaps Guilliame might like to raise the topic as he is the one who has other places to be tonight.]

"I'm sorry to break the conversation but I need to head off shortly. Do we have time to discuss some business or can than wait for another time?"

Granny grimaces at Guilliame's word but Master Fini just nods and says, "I would like to head back to my family in a day or two, so I too am interested in getting things done quickly."

He then continues, saying, "As I mentioned previously, I wish to sell my store and its contents. You probably will not be interested in the store, but you might be interested in some of my stock. Naomi tells me you have made some sales to students from the School."

"Now that Negress Black's shop is not operating we are picking up some new clientele. So sales have increased somewhat."

"Yes," says Fini, who then finishes his mouthful of food before finishing. "Who would have thought that the brother of the Archmagus would be a follower of Arion... I wonder where he fled to?"

"He was a man of means and maybe some power. I'm sure he could find somewhere safe."

Fini seems surprised at Guilliame's comment. "It sounds like you know him, do you?"

"I knew him a little through the school."

"Hmphh!" says Fini, "Still, his loss is your gain. Business must improve for you now that such a major competitor is no longer in business."

"I think business has picked up hasn't it granny?"

"Starting to," replies Granny. "I am actually a bit worried that our stock of ingredients is running a bit low."

"Perhaps some of my stock might help fill in the gap until you replenish your supplies," says Fini, before taking another spoonful of his meal.

"The blank books have brought in the most money," Granny says. "We have sold a couple to people from the School and they fetch a nice high price."

"Yes, they are good sellers," says Fini, nodding, "and I have half a dozen, hundred-page books of blank pages, if you are interested." He looks hopefully between Granny and Guilliame. "What would you give me for them?"

[OOC: Guilliame and Granny have sold several of these at 5 Engles each, so if they can get a good price from Fini there is a potential large profit to be made here. Unfortunately, The shop only has about 8 Engles in funds at the moment (see under the 'Other Possessions' section of the 'Inventory' tab on Guilliame's character sheet). Perhaps they could consider approaching a money lender for a loan.]

"What would you regard as a fair price for the lot? We would have to take out a loan I suspect so it might take a few days to organise."

"I really wanted to leave the city as soon as possible," begins Fini, "I have someone coming to look at the shop tomorrow, they seem eager to buy, but they are not interested in my stock... How does 2 Engles each sound to you?"

[OOC: If you want Guilliame to try to bargain Fini lower, this will be a contested roll between the two character's Persuasion skills with Guilliame's roll being -1 for each Constantine less than 2 Engles (i.e., 20 Constantines) he offers (e.g., If he offers 19 Constantines per book, then there will be a -1 to his roll). If Fini wins, then he won't go lower but, having made the opening offer, he won't raise the price either.

Note: You could also have Guilliame pull Granny aside to talk privately and have him try to get her to 'Help' him in bargaining. If she agreed, then the roll could be made at Advantage on the roll.

Regarding arranging payment, that is another issue that could be negotiated. For example, Fini might accept a certain amount now and the rest at a later date paid through a messenger service.]

To Master Fini "Do you mind if I have a quick consult with my grandmother."

If he doesn't object to Naomi: "How about we offer him 5 Engles up front with another 6 to follow in a 10day. Do you think that is reasonable and can we get the money that quickly."

Fini doesn't object and Granny and Guilliame step out into the corridor to speak privately.

Granny listened to Guilliame's potential offer and then says, "It would be nice to get them for that price, but who do you think would loan us those extra Engles?"

[OOC: There are banks in Constantine that might be willing to loan Guilliame the coin. There are also private money lenders, both legit and less so. So, it is likely that Guilliame could raise the money, but paying it back really depends on whether they will be able to sell the books quickly.

Granny also seems willing to help try to convince Fini.]
