"Well if it comes with the house I hope it likes the new owners. The guards may have a thing to say about it as well."

[OOC: Hi Andrew. Thanks for ringing through with the news of Paul's mother. A sad thing. Did he manage to see her before she passed?]

"We never had any trouble, so I never thought to mention it," says Fini, looking concerned. "The buyers are not from the area, so I doubt they have heard the stories yet."

He then looks anxiously between Guilliame and Granny and asks, "Do you think I should tell them? I cannot really afford for the sale of the house to fall through."

OOC: Paul was on the bus on the way when Leslie passed away. It all happened in less than 24 hours.

"So far the cat has only attacked people who broke in or intended it harm. The new buyers should enter carefully but it might be fine."

[OOC: It is sad that Paul didn't get to see his mother one last time.]

At this point, Granny says, "You really should tell them, Frans. They have a right to know..."

She then turns to Guilliame and says, "Do you think they are in any danger, Guilliame? Perhaps the Watch needs to do something?"

"I could talk to the sheriff about it, but any hostile action seems to make the situation worse."

Frans Fini looks worried when he says, "Thank you, Guilliame. That would be much appreciated... And if you could keep an eye on the place for a little while, that would also be appreciated."

By this time, everyone has finished their food and Guilliame is a little surprised to hear the first candle of the evening being called in the street outside. It is about time he headed off to the Watchpost for his evening's watch.

[OOC: If you want Guilliame to bring anything else up in the conversation, now is the time to do it.]

"Will there be a way to communicate with you other than the messenger services once you leave town?"

"You could, of course, come to visit," says Frans. "You would always be welcome and it is not really that far to Westerport."

"Excellent. I will make sure to keep in touch. But I'm afraid I need to head off. Good evening."

Guilliame gets to his feet and heads into this bedroom to prepare for this shift at the Watchpost.

[OOC: Please take a look at the Inventory tab on Guilliame's character sheet. If you select 'All', then you will see all of Guilliame's current possessions. I have configured this for what I believe he will be taking with him. However, towards the bottom of the list you can see all his 'Other Possessions'. Is there anything there you think he would also take?]

Take those possessions and no others.

After putting on his armour and buckling on his sword, Guilliame checks his armband is in place and that he has all the necessary components for his rituals. He then leaves his bedroom to find Granny and Fini is the process of clearing up after dinner.

"You carry a straight sword?" queries Fini, as he drys an earthenware mug. "I thought the guard used Sorendenese scimitars."

"It is his father's sword," says Granny by way of explanation. "The sheriff gave him a special dispensation to use it."

Fini nods and then says, "Well, here is hoping you have no need to use it at all."

"Yes," agrees Granny. "Take care of yourself and do not take any risks... Oh, and I will not be going to sleep before you come home, so no staying back like you did last night. I need to get my beauty sleep."

"I'll make sure I'm back on time although I was promised a bonus for last night's work."

"Good, good," says Granny. "But the most important thing is to take care of yourself."

[OOC: Unless you want Guilliame to interact with either of these two more, we can assume he leaves after setting up the same arrangements with Granny as he did last night for getting back in, or something else if you want to do something different.

If you are happy for him to start heading towards the Watchpost, then please make a Perception check for Guilliame.]

In the darkness some time after the first candle call of the night, Guilliame begins the long walk to the northern Watchpost.

In the built-up areas of the Scholars Ward near his home and the school, there is enough light at this time of night to be able to walk without a light source and it is as Guilliame turns onto the main northern road that Guilliame sees a person he recognises: Brutha Hazluk.

Hazluk and another man are just leaving an eating establishment and Guilliame sees them in the pool of light given off by a lantern at the entrance of the establishment. He himself is in a shaded part of the street and, for the moment, it is clear that the two are not aware of Guilliame's presence.

[OOC: What does Guilliame do?]

Attempt to follow the two at a distance. Make sure that the longsword is available for quick withdrawal but don't unsheathe it as yet.

[OOC: Because of Guilliame's armour and obvious weaponry, I will need you to make a Stealth check for him to remain unnoticed by the two. You can make it at Advantage because of the shadowy conditions.]

Staying in the shadows, Guilliame follows the two men to the next establishment where people are eating, where they both look in through the entrance briefly before entering.

[OOC: It seems to Guilliame that they are not looking for a place to eat, rather they are looking for someone or something.]
