The back road that services this block is always a little smelly because all the rubbish bins and privies are accessible from the road so that they can be accessed by the city's rubbish and dung collectors. This morning there are also the smells of your neighbours cooking breakfast.

Apart from these odours, Guilliame hears and sees nothing suspicious from the road, but he is still outside the backyard of Masterful Mixtures because the back gate that accesses the yard through the tall wooden fence is barred from the inside.

[OOC: The houses are built wall-to-wall like apartments, so the only ways to look at the back door are from inside the back yard or inside the kitchen. You could try to get through the back gate somehow, or perhaps use a window at the back of the house to get into the back yard, presuming it is the outside of the back door you want to look at. Please let me know what it is you want to do.]

Returning to the front of the house from the back service road, Guilliame

goes through the front door to the back of the house. Do a see the Arcane on the back door. If there is nothing there then carefully undo the bolt/bar and open it. 

Guilliame can see nothing other than the Alarm spell, which is still in operation.

He carefully unbolts the door and opens it to find that the outside of the door has been smeared with faeces and what looks to be the contents of the house's dunny tin has been purposively deposited on some of the shop's equipment (i.e., drying racks, boxes, etc.). On looking closer, he see that there has been no physical damage done, but the place looks and smells terrible.

"We've been shat upon," says Granny Naomi in disgust from behind Guilliame.

"I'll start cleaning up. Do we have enough water?"

"You should do that magic thing you did packing the Jartinal Weed," says Naomi, clearly disgusted.

Then she adds, "Who would do such a thing? What have we done to do such a thing?"

"Good thinking. I will set it up. I'll need to supervise if there are changes to tasks."

Get components and start spell.

The Unseen Servant gets the yard clean of filth in short order and Granny goes around pouring some strong smelling liquid on all the cleaned surfaces to remove the left-over stink.

Soon all the contents of the dunny can are back in the can and back in the privy.

"Okay," says Granny as she returns from putting away her bottle of pungent liquid away. "Let's have some breakfast. When is Samuel turning up? Do you remember?"

"I don't recall. Let's have breakfast and see if he comes."

Breakfast is eaten with still no sign of Samuel.

Suddenly she says, "Wait. I remember now, he said he wasn't available to this afternoon. You were going to look after the shop this morning."

After a moment, she says, "I really don't feel like going on my own, so we could try going this afternoon, if you're free."

"I will go with you this afternoon. It's probably nothing to worry about but best be safe. I'll stay around this morning as well. If these people come back they might try again soon."

"Thank you, Guilliame, I appreciated that," says Granny Naomi. "I'm not as young as I was. In the old days, they would have known they were in a fight... But those days are past."

She pushes her chair back and gets to her feet. "You should go study. I'll clean up here, and tend to the shop. If anything happens I'll yell for you, okay?"

"OK. But I can look after the shop if you want a break before we go to the market."

Head back to room and do some study.

Guilliame spends the rest of the morning studying hard and only realises the lateness of the hour when Granny Naomi presents him with a mug of char and a wooden platter on which there is a chunk of bread, a piece of cheese, a large carrot and an apple.

"It's time to give your eyes and brain a rest, Guilliame," she says, glancing over the notes he has made in his spell book. "Eat that and then when Sam shows up we'll get out into the fresh air and have a nice walk."

"Will do, thanks."

Eat and if Sam turns up in time head off to the market with Naomi if it is time.
