"Thank you, I'd appreciate that," says Velma, taking one last long draft of her drink before getting to her feet.

She then heads for the door where she stops and takes a look around. "I will have to come back here. This place is much nicer than the drinking houses near home."

Taking the lead, Velma walks out into the now completely darkened streets. "Can you make a light?" she asks.

Cast a dancing light as four lantern like shapes the first immediately in front then each 20ft further down the street (if the street is long enough). 

With the casting of the spell, Velma smiles and says, "That's good. Not only will it help us see our way, it will also keep us safe. People around here know well enough not to mess with a magus."

The two make their way through the darkened streets with Guilliame regularly renewing his cantrip. As they walk, Velma, who seems to be much more comfortable with him now, continues to chat.

"I noticed before you have a bruise on your face," she says. "It looks like someone hit you... What happened?"

"I told you about the robbery at the market this morning. I tried to stop them but the thieves got away and with a purse. They only left this behind."

"Oh," Velma says, surprised. "You told me that you saw a mugging. You didn't tell me you were involved... Did you give as well as you got?"

"Things certainly didn't go as planned. Next time I hope I'll be able to travel faster with my new spell."

"i'll see if I can help you with that," says Velma as she continues to lead Guilliame through the streets of the area west of the more richer area of the Scholar's Ward.

Eventually, the two of them reach an area of poorer housing overlooking a branching of the river. 

"This is the street where I live," says Velma as they reach a particular intersection. "Thank you for walking me home, Guilliame, but I will be okay going the rest of the way myself now. You should probably head back for dinner with your grandmother before she begins to get worried."

"Do you need some light to get to your door?"

"No, no," says Velma hurriedly before adding, "Ma will have a lantern at the front door. I will be okay. Thank you again, and I will see you tomorrow in the library. Yes?"

"I look forward to it. Have a good night."

Keep an eye on her as she goes down the street.

Velma looks back over her shoulder several times as she walks down the road away from Guilliame, but eventually she disappears into the darkness.

Head home. If it is extra-dark or there is unusual activity then do a dancing light just ahead.

Guilliame makes it home without problem to find Granny Naomi waiting with dinner.

"You're late today," she says as she starts serving him his food. "Does that mean you've had some success with the books?"

"It means I had a drink with a librarian on the way home. How did things go at the shop today?"

Granny nods and says, "Pretty quiet, which means I got the chance to put everything away and also grind up that bundle of elttaw bark to make tanning powder."

Then she smiles and asks, "Was it a female or male librarian?"

"It was a nice young lady. She lives with her mother in a rough part of town so I walked her home. She promised to help me with my spells and I would like tpo walk her home again sometime soon."

"That's nice, Guilliame," says Granny Naomi with a smile as she sits down at the table to her own meal.

"So, it would seem things aren't all that bad at the moment," she adds, as she begins eating her own food.

After a while, she casually enquires, "So, she's a magus then?"

"She is a scholar rather than a practitioner. I was thinking one night we could invite her and her mother over for dinner. What do you think?"

"Here?" says Granny Naomi looking around in surprise. "We haven't had company for I don't know how long. Perhaps we could take them to that Scholar's Retreat place? That was nice."

"It would have to be our shout. Velma is paying off her king's patronage."
