Connak turns back to Tabesha'l... "Our murdering friend just rode out on a horse, at full gallop. We need to cross the bridge to the main keep, and what better time to do so then when Cryovain is chasing a galoping horse? If we can get to the main keep and find cover, then we can maybe taunt Cryovain to distract it from that unfortunate robber. It probably won't save her, but we'll get across at the very least. Without having to stare down a dragon to do it."
"To be honest, I would not mind getting devoured if I could guarantee my survival. I have the feeling the experience could be beneficial for my future research and inventions," Tink comments from her position looking towards the keep.
"Whisker, keep watch."
The metallic cat peers outside for a brief moment, before deciding to instead busy itself with grooming. Tink on the other hand rifles through the contents of her pack and pulls out a simple black disk.
"I could move just a single of us 90 ft. towards the keep I suppose? Unfortunately I would not be able to get all of us. However if my calculations are correct, if I managed to some how get 90 ft. out, I could theoretically warp one of you 180 ft. from where we are to the other side. That requires I stay undisturbed ofcourse."

Tabesha'l maintains her concentration on the Weave, her face even paler than usual as she answers both her companions:
" I can provide a distraction and attempt to cast the illusion of yonder Green Wyrm that our foe faced earlier on, ye all hath witnessed their enmity. Methinks 't shall prove sufficient to distract it, at least for a little while. However I have to clearly see Cryovain for such magic to take hold. And even then, it may not be enough..."

Connak finds a set of large, heavy doors on the western wall of the barbican at the top of the stairwell he entered after their fight with the robbers had concluded. Through arrow slits, he can see the bridge spanning westward to the main fortress.
Though the doors opening towards the bridge require some force to open, they are not locked. Damage to the door suggests it was forced open at some point. With help from Vaxis, he is able to get them open far enough that he can squeeze through for a better look outside: he sees a solid stone bridge spans the 70-foot gap between the gatehouse and the main fortress, 100 feet above the trail that passes underneath it. The bridge is edged by 3-foot-high stone railings.
Connak also see Runa on her horse galloping down the path to the north which hugs the side of the mountain. A large, dark shadow passes briefly over the horse and rider, but when Connak looks skyward, he sees nothing but sky...
Connak pokes his head back inside and shrugs to the others, "I don't see Cryovain, and our acquaintance is making her way down the path out in the open."
"So we running to the keep and attackin from there? Sure... we run," Minsys says. He takes off with his maul in hand and his back with all the newly acquired weapons in it.
Connak starts to explain the plan, "No, we wait until Cryovain attacks our escaping acquaintance then...." When Minsys runs off, Connak finishes with ".... Shit."
Connak pulls out his Earthbound arrow and nocks it.
Minsys blasts through the doorway and across the bridge. Looking to his right he sees the robber on horseback far to the north on the winding switchback trail below. Just before she enters the tunnel, a blast of ice crystals propelled by hurricane-force wind erupts from the mouth of the passage from the darkness within. When the cloud clears, the escapee and her horse are frozen firmly to the narrow ledge cut into the side of the mountain.
Out of the shadows prowls the young white dragon Cryovain...creeping with head low, like a cat through the jungle up to its prey. He leans forward to sniff the frozen woman and her horse (which were in fact not yet deceased, but merely encased, albeit in incredible pain...) ensuring that his catch was suitable for a meal. Rearing up on hind legs, he leans in close to Runa's face and pulls back the flaps of leathery flesh covering the rows of 10-inch long, razor sharp teeth, as if to give the woman an advance, up-close look at what were about to become the instruments of her death...
A moment later, the woman jolted as the dragon struck and instantly she was missing her left arm and shoulder along with much of that quadrant of her upper torso...Cryovain had taken the first bite of his breakfast...
Finally seeing Cryovain several hundred feet away, Connak tells the rest of the party, "RUN! Cryovain is eating her a couple hundred feet away. We run across NOW or fight on the bridge later."
Connak sprints out of the guardhouse, onto the bridge.
(Seeing as Connak has Cunning Action, he can move + dash + dash and has a walking speed of 35 ft. I imagine he quickly overtakes Minsys...)
Being the first to make his way across, Connak finds a set of doors similar to the ones at the other end of the bridge. Also similar to the other pair, is that one stands ajar, its crossbar broken...the damage suggesting it was forced open at some point.
The dragon lets out a howl that reverberates off the mountain walls, causing some small snowdrifts to dislodge and begin tumbling down the slopes, but at no danger to anyone on the bridge. The vocalization may just be a sound of elation as the dragon feeds, or could indicate Cryovain has spotted five more meals crossing the bridge to its lair, but no one can tell for sure from this distance, and for now the dragon remains in place, working on devouring it's current meal.

Tink blanches white at the gruesome sight. of the dragon and its meal. Pushing away any feelings of quesiness, she just signals to Whisker to follow as she dashes across the bridge after her companions. Being the swifter one, Whisker actually overtakes Tink and pulls ahead.

The four who had crossed the bridge look back at Vaxis, who seems ponderous or perhaps even hesitant...
Meanwhile, Cryovain rips into the horse being careful not to kill either the beast nor the woman until the last possible second, if for no other reason than to prolong their suffering...something about the combination of mortal fear and intense physical anguish made the frozen meat taste so much better...
Moving through the doors at the other side of the bridge, Connak finds a 20-foot long, 10-foot wide entry chamber with another set of large heavy doors at the western end. The north and south walls feature arrow slits, such that anyone occupying this reception hall would appropriately find themselves on the receiving end of any projectiles being fired through said slits.
Connak will continue to run to the doors at the western end, continuing to look for side rooms or alcoves where the party can regroup without having Cryovain breathe icy death all over them.
Peering through the arrow slits on the north and south walls, the party can see cold, empty halls which feature more arrow slits around the circumference of the fortress.
Connak moves to the western doors of the entrance hall and finds them unlocked and partially opened. Looking inside he sees a large audience chamber. Shields, weapons, and tapestries once festooned the walls but the items now lay destroyed on the floor. A dozen humanoid skeletons in rusty armor lie scattered amid the debris. Painted on the stone floor is a 10-foot-diameter, shield-shaped crest that features a black tower being struck by a golden bolt of lightning. A stone hearth is centered on the north wall and a smaller personnel-sized door on the south wall leads further into the complex.

Whisker arrives in cover with Tink fast on her metallic pet's heels. As she stops to catch her breath she comments, "I suggest we take our stand here where we have cover. If we can are able to keep the dragon grounded, then perhaps fighting it in the open is an option. However we must surely take precautions against that freezing breath of theirs."
