Hearing the laughter, Tink weighs their options for a moment. They were in a tough spot and they were hurting. They could run, but Minsys was still assaulting the dragon. In the end, she grits her teeth and charges down the passageway while she gives W.H.I.S.K.E.R. a pat on the head.

Tabesha'l, still sprawled on the floor, peers around the corner at the abyssal apparition sprouting up from the invocation circle. It doesn't take an arcane genius to connect the dots... she shows her staff to Tink with a warning: " No matter what happens, this-here phylacterious item shall be destroyed, lest Viathirix comes back in yet more undead forms ! I shall protect it till this can be done... and our foolish barbarian, as well. Thou shallt find us outside, on yonder bridge !"
With that, she stands up and starts jogging towards Minsys.
As she reaches the still swinging half-orc, she puts a hand on him as she hisses: " That is quite enough of thy maddened pursuits for now, friend. 'Tis Orcus thou shall face off to here, and I won't have it, like it thee... or not !"then enounces the last few arcane words needed to finish her prepared spell:
" Ogh Nyethrêlep Tyridlë-Dreth !"
With a slight gust of wind, both of them vanish into thin air.

Connak's arrow sails down the archer's hallway and buries itself in the dracolich's hollow eye socket. Though his shot could not have been better placed, the strike seemed to barely catch the notice of the undead dragon, who was increasingly consumed with the necrotic aura swirling around it...
VIATHIRIX (cont.) Seeing Minsys and Tabesha'l dissappear, Viathirix tries to move towards Vaxis and Tink, but is horrified to find that it cannot cross the boundary of the magic circle at it's feet...
Behind the dracolich, a hideous figure begins to materialize - a bestial creature of corruption with a diseased, decaying look having the lower body of a goat and a humanlike upper body with a belly swollen with rot. Great bat wings sprout from his shoulders, and his head is like the skull of a goat, the flesh nearly rotted from it. In one hand, he wields a large wand consisting mainly of the spine and skull of a humanoid creature....deathly dark green necrotic energy appears to pour forth from the mouth and eye sockets of the wand's headpiece...
"Your ritual is...unsatisfactory..." booms the demon's voice. Viathirix hisses angrily, and turns and releases the full might of his breath weapon upon the demon, but the undead god just waves it away as if it were nothing more than a cool autumn breeze...
Minsys whips around to Tab, "What have you done! I had him dead, undead... redead? It was gonna die again!." Minsys doesn't make an attempt to rush back into the building though and just stands and waits incase the dracolich returns.
Hearing the shouts and seeing her companions make a hasty retreat, Tink knows it is time for her to leave as well. However she is definitely not going to leave W.H.I.S.K.E.R. behind. This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Connak thinks he's fairly safe where he is and wants Vaxis and Tink a good distance ahead before he takes up the rearguard and runs too. In the meantime, he will take the opportunity granted by the demon to shoot at Viathris unawares.
Connak longbow Attack: 14 Damage: 24
Connak then watches from the arrow slit waiting for the others to run past.
Connak's arrow finds it's mark, but once again Viathirix seems to barely notice as it slams into it's neck becoming lodged in between two decaying vertebrae...
What the elven archer sees next would forever be etched into his memory...indeed inscribed onto his very soul:
Orcus, lord of the undead, profane god of lichs and the principal enemy of all living things...fully materialized near Viathirix. Acrid smoke poured forth from the hollow nostrils of the craven steer skull that was the demon king's head, as concentrated necrotic energy, raw and untethered, spilled out of the ocular sockets in dark green gouts of fog that sunk to the ground as if it were heavier than the air around it.
"Viathirix...you have failed yet again!! This adolescent 'body' you have inhabited is unfit for lichdom! Only the most powerful of dragons and mages are permitted to escape death through my cold embrace of undeath..****y the most mighty may join my ranks, lest the fear of my name...of my legions(!) run dry in the nightmares of the living. You dare to insult me with this pitiful dragon, not even a century old, that was struck down by five lowly MORTALS!! UNACCEPTABLE!! Now, you will spend your eternity not as Orcus' servant...but as my prisoner!!"
The demon lord then raised his hideous wand and uttered an incantation....slowly, from the thick cloud of necrotic energy that had pooled under Viathirix, rose the undead: zombies, ghouls, undead ogres and even a rotting beholder! Viathirix flailed and fought, but Orcus' legions kept surging forth from the fog and swarmed over the dracolich like a horde of blighted bailiffs wrestling a convict into custody.
Orcus then swept his hands backwards, ending the spell and the magic circle flashed as it opened into a portal to the Abyss...as if in the vacuum of space, the undead legions were sucked into the hellmouth, bringing with them every last remaining piece of Viathirix' rotted flesh and bloated organs, gripped tightly in their vile claws. The cold winter wind surrounding the fortress rushed through every nook and cranny and into the portal...and Connak was sucked into the opening of the archer slit, but thankfully he was just wide enough to withstand being pulled through...
An instant later, the magic circle, the undead hordesmen, the demon king himself...vanished...leaving nothing but a perfect and complete dragon skeleton lying on the floor, it's bones bleach-white as if it had been foraged over for years by scarabs and trench beetles...
The air pressure returned to normal and Connak felt his body go limp in the murder hole...
Connak will slump down to the ground, processing. After a moment, he will yell out, "Hey Minsys. If you want some dragon bone trophies, I think it's safe to go harvest some." To Vaxis, Connak will say, "I think your vigilance is over. You are free of Viathrix."
Vaxis feels the darkness of Viathirix' curse leave him as the undead dragon was pulled into the Abyss, even though he did not witness the event himself.
Minsys was ready to rush back into the fortress, but suddenly saw no need as Tink walked out slowly, carrying the remains of W.H.I.S.K.E.R. in her arms.
Tabesha'l went weak with relief knowing that their fight was over and even noticed that the frozen mountain top had begun to thaw a little as tiny blades of green grass began to poke through the blanket of snow covering the slopes below.
Connak's strength slowly returned, but the weight of what he'd witnessed made it feel as though his mind felt as if it were being held up by crutches.
Each of them knew the threat was gone, they only thing left to do was...deciding what to do next...
Tabesha'l tore her attention away from the spectacle of life returning to the mountains after their ordeal, and spoke to Minsys in a subdued tone:
" I daresay I would understand if thee couldst be sore with my... somewhat brash initiative to take thee away from yonder abyssal happenstances. Yet I cannot say with full honesty I truly feel sorry for it: t'was a greater challenge than any of us should have faced. Even Thee and thy Rightfully Smashing Maul, Ô Savage One !"
She then peers at her staff intently. " As for this particular artefact, t'must be taken to Aerydesia at once. I fear there may be terrible curses wreathed upon it !"
" Unless..." her eyes took on a haunted look, " ... Unless she herself was planning all this from the start ? Canhraeren Allanethyr ! The Foul One !"
The elven magus suddenly recalled the rumors about her grandmother's ties with a cult of Orcus, liches... she shivered. No, that could NOT be !

Examining the head stone of her staff as she spoke the elven mage noticed the image of her grandmother appear within the gem...the images moved through her memories, first as a younger adult elf, then as the older elf she remembered from her childhood, then as the elderly witch she freed from her prison within the gem dragon's lair...
...then her grandmother's final - true - form revealed itself, as a distant evil cackle was heard softly echoing off the slopes of the Sword Mountains before fading into nothingness...
Now that they were out from danger, Tink sets down W.H.I.S.K.E.R.'s remains and pulls out a vial of silvery grey liquid from her pack. The vial is quickly loaded and sprayed on W.H.I.S.K.E.R. and you see almost immediately the metal begin to slowly mend itself. It is only then that Tink can breath a sigh of relief.
Tink plops onto the floor and looks up at the rest, "So are we out of the woods then? That was certainly an adventure. I hope we won't have to see another dragon for a very very long time."
She then gives Tabesha'l a strange look, "Are you ok Tabesha'l? Do you think your grand mother had ties with all this? Certainly not right? Professor Theodus Hampford Elgato Obi Rillicampus Yippakay used to say 'Do not make a conclusion until everything is concluded.' He always said we were not to jump to conclude an answer until we had all the evidence and worrying about things like that before hand was not worth it."
