In reply to Joetaro, the priest simply says: I have many spawn.
Hearing Sekkar, the priest responds: Perhaps, but all the same, she will not refuse. She thinks herself stronger than I, but the power of the Sea Mother will prevail over this new god, whatever form it takes. When the high priest is dead the worship will cease, and the Deep Father's power will be broken. Once battle starts your purpose is fulfilled and you may do as you wish, to aid me or to flee. Either way your reward is earned.
Then to all, the priest's thoughts come: You may rest briefly now, but we must leave this place. At the village you will have time for repose until the time of the sacrifice.
You can all gain benefits of a short rest, and use any HD if needed.

Kaylyn shakes her head. It's a good plan and she knows many cultures are different than how her's was growing up. And down here things are likely much different. She's not here to change cultures she just wants to get back to the surface.
"Uh, ok. I hope this works out and you don't mind us defending ourselves once the spells start flying. Let's get this over with."
Zeno listens with arms crossed as the archpriest lays out his plan. He shakes his head as the kuo-toa finishes. “Here I was hoping for a simple moment to rest and restock in a fishing village. Assuming we make it through this and you’re able to follow through on your little plane here, will you help us find our way back to the surface?”
He steps to the side with the rest and checks his gear, counting his remaining crossbow bolts.
(OOC: side note, I just looked and I don’t actually show any bolts in my inventory. Assuming I had at least 20 from where we got these?)
Joetaro nods, deciding not to press the matter any further, or ask the kuo-toa if he has spoken to his other children about this. He prays to Selune as he examines his equipment. For a moment, he whispers "spawn," and then shakes his head.

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
The group manages to rest, despite the somewhat distracting habit of the kuo-toa to be constantly moving, even when they seemingly have nowhere to go. Whether guarding, talking or just idling, they continually walk in circles, around the whole camp or even just circling each other. Eventually the priest indicates that it is time to leave, and the march resumes, this time with a new escort of fish-folk. It is less than an hour later that the tunnel widens and opens out into a vista across a vast lake. Islands large and small are scattered through the watery expanse, some appearing to be vast stalactites that reach to heights unknown. The ceiling and far shore are invisible in the darkness, but the near shore appears to be a wide ledge against which the waters of the lake ripple with an eerie silence. Descending to the ledge, the kuo-toa guide the group to the left and follow the shore, until the village finally comes into view.
From a distance, the village looks like a massive tangle of reeds stretching up into the darkness, lit by glowing spots of phosphorescence. Upon closer approach, a series of rickety towers can be seen, lashed together by rope and plank bridges set in haphazard patterns. It would seem that even above ground, the kuo-toa build in line with their three-dimensional aquatic sensibilities, constructing their “great city" as if it were underwater. A high wall formed of netting runs from the lake shore to the cavern edge, in front of which four guards with the familiar pincer-staff weapons walk in a figure-eight pattern in front of a crude gate. With curious glances at the group, particularly at Sekkar and Kastix, they raise their staves to the priest, and then admit the group through the portal in the wall, which on close inspection is woven with sharp bone hooks.
The village itself seems alive with activity. Kuo-toa fill the streets in constant motion. Some fish-folk walk alone, one of which walks straight into Zeno and then continues walking without a second glance, at which Shuushar explains that the kuo-toa was simply asleep and unaware of their presence. In another place, while passing a large series of docks filled with small boats, a large group of fish-folk follow behind what appears to be a preacher, who delivers his sermon while walking in a large circle. Nearing the centre of the village, even from a distance Joetaro senses a discomfiting feeling coming from the north, near the waters edge.
The group stops at a nine-foot-tall statue standing in the centre of the village: its body is roughly carved from some kind of wood in the shape of a humanoid female, its head and forearms formed from the severed head and claws of a giant albino crayfish. These parts are lashed on with strands of gut, and emit an overpowering stench of rotting shellfish. Shells, brightly colored stones, mushrooms, and rotting fish are piled at the statue's feet and strung in garlands around its neck. Four stern kuo-toa slowly circle the statue, alert and on guard, while a few others mill about, gazing up at the statue and bowing repeatedly while chanting. Just as you are passing the shrine, one of the kuo-toa worshippers regurgitates what looks like some half-digested squid, while the other worshippers oh and ah in admiration at this sincere show of faith. Kaylyn comments on the fact to Rhayna, who suggests that perhaps this goddess values offerings of a very personal nature. One of the kuo-toa guards raises his spear in a kind of salute at the priest as he passes.
The guards remain at the shrine as the priest (or 'Ploop' as you have come to call him) leads you into a small hovel adjacent to the shrine. Although sufficiently large to comfortably accommodate all of you, it is entirely free of furnishings, save for a small wooden closet. Ploop begins to address you, when the saluting guard from outside appears in the doorway. Speaking Undercommon he says: Aita, ez ditugu kanpokoak behar. Gai sakratuak ebazteko ordenatuta gaude. //Father, we have no need for these outsiders. We alone are ordained to resolve sacred matters.// But Ploop merely dismisses him with a wave saying Gloogluggog jainkosaren ikusmoldeen korronteekin isuri behar dugu. //We must flow with the currents of the goddess's visions, Gloogluggog.// The guard leaves, and the priest turns again to you. Hemen egon zaitezke zure bila itzuli arte. Beste galderarik ez baduzu, nire eszedentzia hartuko dut. //Here you may rest until I return for you. If you have no further questions, I will take my leave.//

"The only way out is the lake, and they are faster in the water than any of us," commented Sekkar when Ploop left. "Looks like we are doing it after all. What do you say we help our "friend" when his attack begins? He might keep his word and set us free. Some chance at least. Or we can risk it and try to escape but if Ploop looses, his daughter might join the drow in chasing us."
“Uhm. Actually, would you be able to tell me where is Neverlight Grove and what would be the fastest way to get there? My friens here would like to go home.” Rhayna addresses the priest.
