Sekkar watched two healers working their magic (not literally this time) on a dying duergar for a while and then suddenly suggested: "Let me try too... I think I saw you enough time doing it. Let's check if I got it right." He pointed at the most painful of his own wounds and mumbled the words he remembered now Cure Wounds 13 "What do you know, worked!" "Now, do we want him healed?"

(Sekkar wants Gorlak alive. If while stable the duergar is still in danger - then Cure Wounds 9 on him. But if we can come up with fast transportation of him (and the egg) to the upper city, healing can wait until we are closer to our destination)

(Yes, you automatically get your new spell slots. If you have any new spells or spell changes, also make those changes now, but any other prepared spells stay prepared until your next long rest. Any used race/class abilities also stay used until the next relevant rest.)

So far it has been evident that Useless is good at detecting telepathic communication, but its senses are otherwise not much better than anyone else. It is able however to transmit a telepathic communication to anyone within 60', and if Pensive helps as a relay this could be extended to at least 160'.

Gorlak returned to normal size soon after he was defeated. He is currently restrained, blinded and unconscious, but stable. Pax successfully fixes the gem to the pommel of her sword while the group deliberates on what to do with the duergar and the egg, and when and how to depart the cavern. Before the flumph departs for sentry duty, it overhears Zeno's summary and makes one additional observation: that the shadow demon was subservient to Gorlak, had been summoned by him and was taking orders from him.

(If Rhayna has a lvl2 slot, she could cast Zone of Truth, if anyone wants to interrogate Gorlak.)

(Also, I guess we haven’t stumbled upon a disembodied hand with an obsidian ring right? :-)

Kastix will mutter to himself before approaching Rhayna, "You keep track of everything right? How far in are we in there caverns with the route we came in? Most of it 's been a blur for me,"

“If memory serves me well. We are at the opposite end of the cave, in relation to the entrance.” Rhayna responds to Kastix.

Looking around at the group she approaches Sekkar.  "You still look a bit beat up.  Let me help you out a bit."  A light glows in her hands for a moment and Sekkar regains 7 hp (Healing Light)

"Thanks." Sekkar looked visibly better now and was ready for action. "Sounds about right," he nodded to Zeno. "The question now is who do we give our trophies here? I vote the dragon. If we parade around with one of the Stoneguard as a prisoner, we end up in a jail or worse in a heartbeat. The moment Gorlak wakes up, he will deny everything, given the chance. I say put him in front of the dragon and see how he fares then."

Pax spends 10 minutes casting a spell near the entrance of the cave. When she’s the fog of darkness around her seems to have intensified. 

“If any creatures attempt to enter through there we will be warned. In case we wish to rest here and be ready for what’s next.”

(Alarm, ritual)

With the magic ward in place near the cave entrance, everyone feels more comfortable with the idea of resting. A makeshift camp is set up behind one of the mesas, so that if any intruders do arrive, the group will be out of sight and have time to react. The brightness of the faezress refracted and amplified by the crystals makes it a little harder to sleep, but each manages to rest for at least six hours, with each taking a shift to watch Gorlak and the egg. Zeno takes the opportunity to search Gorlak, but finds he carries nothing (with great disappointment, as he had been secretly hoping for a parchment titled "My Evil Plan"). After a couple of hours the duergar awakens, but it is longer still before he is strong enough to even sit up. At one point he attempts to shuffle away from the group, but is quickly apprehended and dragged back again. Gagged and bound as he is, communication is nearly impossible, but he seems to make no attempt to beg or threaten, merely glaring at whoever is on watch, with plans and schemes constantly hatching behind his eyes. Useless floats aimlessly around the cavern, while the two myconids simply sit together sharing whatever thoughts two fungi might share with their spores.

"So, where to? I can make us move quite hidden but we need a path. Brave Pax here knows one that leads to the city, still, once inside we have to choose where to go specifically."

(How sure hot pass without a trace works with unwilling)

"Back to the city but we're deep in their tunnels and want to bring back the hostage to the city. I get those guys whatever they're called may not know about this spot. I would keep the fact i have a dragon egg just laying around secret but I doubt most of the tunnels are as secretive," Kastix replies, "I would prefer to appease who ever can keep us safe for the time being or get us back up top. How you guys figure that out is up to you. We got guards, priests and a dragon to pick from,"

Zeno spends his hour on watch (luckily Gorlak is unconscious at the time) meditating on the ring, and realises that it contains two spells stored inside it. However he comprehends that he will be unable to use the ring to cast the spells or even know what they do until he can spend more time attuning his mind to the ring properly, particularly being relatively unfamiliar with magic spells and their use compared to the others. Zeno has already had an inkling that the crossbow is magical and more effective than his previous one, but might need another hour of meditation (or magical help) to confirm exactly what its properties are.

(However, for the sake of convenience, the I've entered Hand Crossbow +1 in Zeno's inventory, to facilitate attack and damage rolls)

As they settle down to rest Kaylyn sighs heavily. 

"You know what I miss?   Music.   I had a flute at one point in the past but have seemed to have lost track of it.  Destroyed in the fall into the underdark I suppose.  I even dabbled in the lute at one point."

She looks to Pax.  

"Did you mention there was a flute in one of those packs we recovered?"

(Druegar can be carried, so, does not matter if he is willing)

"We strip that duergar from anything indicating him as a guard, cover his face, or put in a sack - and we are good to go. The egge can be covered too. But I say "dragon" because of the egg, and because he would not care about lies of that man - can even get the truth out of him. Stoneguards will be hard to convince about betrayal of their own, or they would want to cover it up. And the egg? Say, they use it as a leverage against the dragon, then we will be the dragon's enemies, because we gave it to guards. Dragon looks like the safest bet to me."

Lol  Though we can consider lizardmen/dragons relationships :) tribes are known to voluntarily choose to serve dragons as manifestation of the might.

Pax passes the flute to Kaylyn. “Do we know what the ring Zeno took off that body at the cave does or what that magical crossbow does yet?”  

She stays silent while they discuss the plans to return Gorlak to the dragon or whom ever but watches Gorlack from and angle where she can see his face but it a bit harder for him to notice her, and she watches his reaction to what the group days.

Rhayna helps Zeno identify his items if still needed. She just goes along with everyone and agrees with the dragon plan. She hasn’t met a dragon so she kind of looks forward to meet one.

Something in her mind keep telling her to look for a patch of fungi though...

Zeno will accept help from anyone who’s willing to identify the objects. As for the plan, Zeno says, “Dragon is an acceptable answer.  We should be careful about the guard, but let’s remember we were sent down here by the Captain also, and she asked us to root out corruption in her guard. She’ll be sympathetic, but we will have to prove it.  Maybe we can bring her here... In any case, yes, the egg should go to the dragon,”
