Rhayna's blessing washes over three, granting them the confidence of the Moonmaiden. Pax walks forward with rapid steps, testing the stones carefully and skittering back a little when several start to give way. But no sooner has her foot pressure been released when they start to lift, forced upward by whatever is lurking below. Sekkar takes the opportunity to stride forward and stab Dawnbringer down into the gaps that have opened between the stones. The glowing blade penetrates into a dark substance, and instantly a mass of vines start snaking down into the cracks, worming they way into the black mass that lies underneath...
STR save v Ensnaring Strike: 23
Despite the damage from the radiant sword, the vines cannot seem to get purchase on the semi-solid form, which roils and churns until the vines are utterly smooshed. Small blobs of black goo bubble to the surface, some of which touch Sekkar's hand as he wields the sunblade, and burn acridly into his skin (for 4 acid damage).
The voice of Glabbagool comes into Sekkar's mind: That is good, follower of Rhayna. Now I will attempt to lead it. The mental link breaks off for a moment... (4) and then resumes with the thought: Alas, it resists me still. Perhaps more chastisement is needed.
The black pudding under the floor tiles is determined to claim a meal, and sensing that its prey has failed to fall into the rudimentary trap, it instead extends several sticky tendrils to grasp at its target...
Pseudopod v Sekkar: Attack: 14 Damage: 5 bludgeoning plus 16 acid damage
Kastix can go next, along with Zeno and Kaylyn. The pudding is now visible, having emerged somewhat from the space under the floor, but it has three-quarter cover.

Sekkar's leg is wrapped in a black sticky extension of the ooze, which not only attempts to crush the underlying bones but burns the lizardman's scales with more acid. Kaylyn's bolts easily find the gaps between the flagstones and slam into the creature, leaving holes that sizzle briefly before being extinguished by the water. Of the three fiery rays from Kastix however, only one finds the gap, and its effect seems to be largely attenuated by the intervening water, doing minimal damage to the ooze.
Zeno seems to be still a bit shaken from his close encounter with the ooze, and also finds it difficult to see anything with all the water and people in the way. (Will skip Zeno and move to next round. The pudding is severely damaged)
Rhyana will try to help her companions by trying to slam some ghostly tomes on the ooze. (Casts Toll the Dead WIS Save 15, damage: 6)

Two giant spectral books appear, their top edges barely visible above the water line, and their lower edges below the line of the stone floor. They clash together suddenly, and the outer membrane holding the pudding together wavers and breaks, but doesn't quite lose its integrity. The pudding is on the verge of destruction...
Sekkar shrugs off the the tentacle (with Attack 10 it misses and should not apply acid, should it?) and now, when the creature is visible enough he marks the monster and then strikes again:
Pax glances down at what is surely a destroyed pudding thing, and then at Sekkar, "You know, you keep running up beside me and stabbing everything before it has a chance to try and hurt me. And then it's pissed at you and tries to kill you and....well....I think what I"m trying to say is..." she pauses, a frown on her face....and then, through the gaps in her helmet Sekkar sees her frown turn into a big grin, and she slaps him (a bit too hard if we're being honest) on the shoulder with her steel gauntleted hand and says, "...good job buddy!"
She walks back out of the hallway and down the next hallway, not stopping to wait for anyone to catch up, hoping to lure out the next slimy / goopy creature.
(To be fair, Kaylyn is the first in line to finish off the pudding, but Sekkar can sure take a friendly punch)
"Any time, sister,"very seriously nodded Sekkar, returning the friendly pat. "You seem sturdy enough but best defense is always a good offense. And the better yet - even more offense. We'll get them all." If the pudding is truly dead, Sekkar followed the warrior-woman into the next hallway to proved his point.
Kaylyn's bolts slam into the submerged pudding, and the ooze slowly slurps back into the large hole beneath the floor. Loose tiles lay haphazardly on the black unmoving surface, while others are gradually nudged along the floor by the moving water. Sekkar stabs at the sludge a few times more just for good measure.
(Can keep the Hunter's Mark active for the next turn if you like, or we can save the spell slot. Same difference).
As congratulations are passed around and the group move into the next corridor, Glabagool speaks now into Kaylyn's mind:
Oh. It is destroyed. That is not good. That is not helpful. You are too strong. You must not destroy them, for then I cannot lead them to the feast. Hurt them just enough, but no more. That is our agreement. You help me and then I help you.
This is the first time Kaylyn has been contacted by the sentient cube, but being accustomed to telepathy with her familiar, she can still sense the cube's disappointment and irritation at the group's destruction of the first pudding.
Pax moves into the next corridor and finds it easier now to detect the loose floor tiles that signify the location of the second pudding, which responds quickly to the bait...
