Ghostly flairs and impenetrable darkness walls do not appear on its own - it means something! If there are ghostly flairs and such darkness, somebody’s making them appear, and the only reason for making them appear is because you’re an enemy that is hiding in the darkness and needs to be put down.
The result of this train of thoughts was for Sekkar to run to the closest cloud. But not right away. First he jumped to the flair ((the lower one)) and tried to hit it with the mundane sword (he new there was a reason to keep a few spear weapons on himself!)
and then run all the way to C36 (with Zephyr he should be able to reach it, right?) where he stops - if he could not see the attackers, he hoped they could not see him either.
"You got it." Sekkar enjoyed the view - burning drow is a treat. They even smell better this way.
Sadly, some drow were not burning but were close enough to get stabbed.

Kaylyn is certain the drow have finally caught up to them. She hears the warning from Pax and she calls out a correction "I count at least 15 spread across the whole width!"
As she yells she moves forward ignoring the flails. She thinks she knows what magic that is and it is the caster that needs to be stopped. Moving to the spot behind Sekkar she activates the Driftglobe setting it to float next to her as she speaks the command word to enable the Daylight. As the bright daylight fills the cavern she also tells Sekkar "We need your swords light, these drow cannot abide its sunlight. My light should dispel their covering darkness but it will not affect the drow themselves"
She then eyes the drow to determine which ones are the casters and which are warriors.

Pax launches the tiny magical mote and it explodes in a huge ball of flame. Perhaps a little short of where she expected... and it didn't seem to blow out the same as she's Kastix's spells do... but it's her first time so who knows? The fifteen (or is it sixteen? Yes, it is sixteen) drow also don't seem to be writhing in pain like she'd expected either. With no time to waste pondering on it, she races to take cover behind some large rocks, but as she moves a piller of light descends from the barren ceiling and bathes her in a burning glow...

Kastix moves up the column and begins casting protective magic on himself as the merchants start to turn the lizard-steeds and move the wagons into a defensive circle. The guards also move up, taking cover behind the rocks just as Pax did. The two elementals however just sink into the ground, although the rumbling vibrations that can be felt suggest they are also moving closer to the combat.
Kaylyn not only recognises the figures as drow, but she is pretty sure she has seen some of them before. As the driftglobe floods the caverns with light, the details of the faces become clear and Kaylyn recognises none other than Ilvara, the priestess and leader of the outpost that imprisoned and enslaved her and her companions, gripping her cruel and formidable rod with the tentacles on the end. In front of her are her two lackeys, the arrogant Shoor and the maimed and sullen Jorlan, as well as two other male warriors, and beside her is another male in the garb of a mage. To the left Kaylyn also recognises Asha, the junior priestess from the outpost, with four male soldiers, and a similar contingent on the right flank. No sooner does her globe activate when she also gets assaulted with a pillar of radiant energy, as well as a long-range crossbow bolt from one of the drow behind Asha, both of whom seemed to be waiting for the first visible target to fire on. Curiously though, the other three drow behind Asha do not fire their crossbows, despite being obviously ready to do so.

Dawnbringer has had the pleasure of slaying drow already, and has heard the stories of Sekkar's imprisonment, so to have the opportunity now to go to battle against what she believes are the cruelest of the cruel gives her great delight as she bursts forth in warm sunlight. As Sekkar charges the closest drow priestess, two of the drow in the rear fire their crossbows, while the other two only stand ready. Dawnbringer sings an exultant song of battle in Sekkar's mind as the brilliant blade cuts the priestess down in short order, and one of the spectral flails vanishes.

The four drow on the north of the tunnel all now start to spread out, two of them firing their crossbows at Kaylyn as they go. Asha, the junior priestess, lauches her own bolt at Kaylyn, but one conjured from the power of Lolth rather than from a crossbow, while the magic flail takes a swipe at Rhayna. The drow in the center and on the south however converge directly on Sekkar, seemingly determined to take out the bearer of the hated sword of sunlight. Sekkar was fully agree that Ilvara had to die, and so did every other drow around (Jorlan bought his life by helping them escape but only if he was smart enough to leave). Yet, the weapon of the Priestess was something too bothersome to be left unchecked. In one fluid movement Sekkar changed his position and attacked Ilvara.

Undaunted by the formidable opposition fronted by the relentless drow slavers, Pax and Sekkar move straight for the head priestess Ilvara. Sekkar's uncanny magic allows him to breeze past the warriors surrounding him, and Dawnbringer sings in his mind as she slashes at Ilvara. Pax moves even more swiftly, although with a little less grace, and brings her own shadows to bear against the priestess. And the two of them are not left to face the horde alone, with Kaylyn cursing and blasting the priestess from afar. Despite taking several severe hits, Ilvara snarls at Sekkar and says in Undercommon: The half-breeds will return to the slave pen, but I shall pry that sword from your cold dead claws! Shoor, the drow warrior at the end of the line, and the priestess's current favoured consort, laughs obsequiously.
Meanwhile Kastix is once more facing Jorlan, the maimed and rejected former lover of the priestess, who helped release them from their cell in order to spite Shoor. Kastix still remembers the sucker-punch to the stomach he received from Jorlan, and repays him with interest as one of his three fiery rays burns into the drow warrior's shoulder. But still Kastix can't help but notice that the drow has broken away from the rest of the pack, has not yet attacked anyone, and in fact seems to be looking earnestly to Kastix as if wanting to speak to him. He pays no attention whatsoever to Kaylyn, despite her being closer, presumably due to her half-elven heritage, which all the drow despise, and is soon accosted by the spear of one of the gnome guards (which he parries with his sword) and an earth elemental that rises out of the ground behind Jorlan (which thumps him with two stony fists).
The merchants complete their defensive formation with the wagons. The gnome mage observes the battle with a calm eye, watching the movement of the drow in the northern flank, and then suddenly releases a fireball, catching Asha and two soldiers in the blast. Both the soldiers fall to the flame, but despite her lack of agility in avoiding the blast, Asha manages to survive. Her glance shifts frequently to the battle around Ilvara, perhaps hoping that the battle will be victorious for all except her mistress.
Another of the gnome guards circles around behind the large boulder to prevent the drow from flanking, while the second elemental rises from the earth behind the two spiders. The drow mage is still nowhere to be seen, but six glowing darts suddenly appear from nearby and streak toward Sekkar, slamming into his scaly hide (21 force damage).

"Hey there," she says in undercommon as she reaches Ilvara, her sword out and ready.

((My mistake - with all those changes forgot that Zephyr was not cast yet. Now it does (BA)), so, no biting priestess, but will add Zephyr damage)
