Pax glances with wide eyes at the ridiculously massive worm, wondering what will happen if it swallows the whole wall of force box they're in......images of the worms insides slides all around them and getting stuck on the wall fills her confused mind along with the idea of acid dripping down all over them. Also she glances down at the drow below them, confused at the timing of their appearance. Outwards though, all she does, is continue to focus her effort on the egg.

What's the difference between a Wizard and a Sorcerer? Class.
Kaylyn worked furiously at trying to cut the egg down but she quickly realized that she wasn't helping much and certainly wasn't speeding along the process. She was nearly a danger to the egg and eventually puts her knife away. Watching the drow come into the room she hopes perhaps they can hold off the worm before.
But then she realizes something. While they can hid in the little pocket of space that Sekkar has made they cannot teleport from it. Their only hope then was to wait out the worm. Perhaps that would work.
How much longer was it going to take to cut the egg down? She feared the timing wasn't going to work out.
She eyed the Purple Worm. If it tried to attack them she would need to act because she didn't think Pax would get the egg down in time.
So she readied herself to cast Polymorph onto the worm if it attacked her or Pax. She would turn it into a Spider if she could.
The drow struggles for a moment but stops immediately when the worm appears. The group of drow hunters remain in place, but stand motionless in a tight bunch, barely moving except to look up at Pax and Kaylyn. The worm slides into the cavern, alternately compressing and stretching portions of its body to propel itself along, but clearly avoiding the group of drow until it reaches the northern end of the cavern, where it begins to curl in on itself, leaving only the point of its tail and the wide-mouthed head exposed.
The fomorian caretaker lumbers into the cavern just after the worm. It spies the new group of drow standing underneath the two floating egg snatchers and bellows once more as it hoists a huge lump of zurkwood over its head, but then stops suddenly, drops its club and clutches its head as if in pain. Kaylyn looks down and notices one of the drow making the hand motions of a spell.
Kaylyn's efforts with the blade were not in vain, and Pax finishes hacking through the resin quicker than she would have done alone. The egg slowly drops loose as its weight overcomes the resistance from the resin, and Pax lowers it slowly to the 'floor' of the invisible box.
The drow hunters continue to look on with displeasure, glancing back and forth between the headache-inflicted giant, the floating egg-thieves and the for-now-reluctant-to-attack worm. The young drow girl has ceased to struggle, but her eyes shift from one person to another, wondering what the group are planning to do and how it will affect her...
Kaylyn is right that the teleport spell won't work inside the rope hideout. She also notices that she can neither see nor hear those in the hideout, and sound from below and within the cave is only reflected from the cavern ceiling. (I assumed the top of the 'box' is open at the top.)
Pax has the egg! That was all in the space of one round. What next?

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
With drow coming to her senses (a hunter! Right.) Sekkar could watch the outside in relative peace to notice changes on the floor. He poked his head through the entrance for Kaylyn to see and nodded toward the force cube, asking if everyone should descend there. Should Kaylyn approve, the rope will be thrown there for Kirin and Rhayna to join Pax and Kaylyn. Lastly, he looked at the pathetic "hunter" in his hands and then tried to explain as simply as he could. "We are leaving. That place will remain for an hour. Enough to save your family from giants. Once we are gone, you can throw the rope down and let them climb up. Until then - keep quiet and still. Understood?" He was waiting for the girl to nod, then would slide down to the cube himself (still keeping the rope). And only when teleportation begins, will drop the rope for the drow to pull it up.
Pax bends down...and lifts, with her legs, cause she knows you can really throw your back out good lifting heaving stuff the wrong way. Seems she can lift it and carry it around a bit, but her hands are full and she's straining with the weight. With a bit of a grunt she gets it in her arms a bit better, then looks over at Kaylyn. She whispers, "Ok. Let's get the heck out of here. You were kidding about getting two of them, right?"
My mother doesn't need saving, the drow girl replies acidly to Sekkar. It is clear her pride has been wounded by being manhandled and gagged by the lizardman, and she hisses indignantly: The worm won't touch her or anyone near her. There wouldn't even be a worm if not for your clumsy noisy friends. You've made enough mess. Take your egg and go, amateurs!

Goading never worked on Sekkar. He did not even look at the girl once he said his warning and slid down to others. The lizardman might consider pulling the rope - simply for fun, nothing more, but the group was about to teleport and he would not be able to see the faces of the drow when one of them drop down waking the worm with her screams. He shrugged and prepared for the innards-twisting experience.

The group clamber out of the hideout and gather on the floor of the invisible suspended box. Pax continues to heft the enormous egg all by herself with no help as Kaylyn prepares to teleport them...
The worm seems to sense something happening. Whether it is the smell of additional creatures that it recognises as food, or the residual sound escaping from the open top of the box, it apparently overcomes whatever it is that was preventing it from approaching the area where the drow are standing directly underneath the party in the box. The drow hunters look visibly agitated at the result of the extra movement and sound coming from above them, and for the first time appear afraid that their mysterious wards might not prove to be sufficient. Two of them begin casting spells and the rest ready their weapons as the giant rises from his bout of pain and again grasps his club....
The world twists and spins, as the smudge that was the cavern begins to change into a smudge that resembles the foyer of Vizeran's tower. The group have arrived safely with the gigantic purple egg.

Sekkar did release the rope. Not that he cared about the group of drow, but he promised. And it would also distract the "hunter" from doing anything reckless.
Instant porting into the tower was the icing on the proverbial cake of success of a very questionable operation. He nodded "Well done!" With the look of satisfaction only lizards and cats can properly express, Sekkar checked the egg. It is very rare one can study such a thing so close and live. Very interesting. Very impressive. Maybe one day he'll return there... Just to check things out. "Here is your egg, wizard," Sekkar did not even say "drow". "We might pull it off after all."
After such flawless victory, obtaining the next ball began to look possible. When everyone was ready to talk about it, Sekkar asked only one thing - how do you kill a beholder without breaking its central eye? "Or do you not care about the conditions of the eye and smashed and stabbed will do too?"
Rhayna braced herself for the pain, but none came to her body. She was relieved that this time the teleportation was smoother. "Are we leaving right away or are we resting? I could try Scrying Pebbles' current location. That might help."

Kaylyn breathed a heavy sigh of relief. "That was close. I had hoped for a second egg, but no matter. We did the best we could under the circumstances. A rest would be fine so Rhayna can scry out our next objective."
Grin the wide-mouthed apprentice looks on silently with an enigmatic smile as the group wait over an hour for Vizeran to make an appearance. Finally he emerges from the tower top, and looks impressed to see the group with the egg. I confess I did not expect thee back so soon, and with all members of thy group alive and uninjured. Hunting worm eggs is a specialised profession, with few experienced veterans.
Vizeran inspects the egg closely, nods his approval and then continues, answering Sekkar's query at the same time: Good, good. Minor damage is expected and can be mitigated. But do try not to mutilate the eye. Preparations are proceeding on schedule, and it is fortunate thou did not disturb my ritual with thy arrival. Take thy rest and return with the eye, and I shall be ready to complete the talisman. Grin will see to your needs.
And with that the drow mage departs again.

Sekkar nodded to the information, found a corner to sit and relaxed for the moment, playing in his mind all possible scenarios of the future encounter. The lizardman also did not expect the purple worm hunt to go so smoothly and strongly suspected the next one, with the beholder, will be tough for both of them.
