Captain Blackhand: Chasing after the others, Beric draws his bow, shouting, "Surrender! We 'ave an elfish Ranger, ye fool! Where ye planning on runnin' and hidin'? Under yer momma's skirt?"
Persuasion: 20
Movement: 30ft
Assuming he doesn't surrender, Beric releases the arrow.
Reyllnn sighs and mutters angrily to herself as she chases after the fleeing Ned. Once in range, she looses another Fire Bolt, this one aimed properly at Ned, although at his legs (an attempt at non-lethal, although with a mote of fire I don't really know...).
Attack: 15 Damage: 6
After the attack, she finishes her last few feet of movement (30 feet total).

At the top of this round, Ned is running down the pathway from the house that you traveled to get here from Saltmarsh. Reyllnn's firebolt slams into the back of Ned, who stumbles and continues to run. He uses his action to dash 60 feet further down the pathway. Beric's shot falls short of the running man just before Elias moves forward and looses an arrow from his longbow. The arrow flies in an arching trajectory, striking Ned in the shoulder. The path being narrow and on the edge of the cliff, I will roll a percentile dice to determine if he falls on the path or over the edge.
Ned made it 180 feet from the house before being struck by the final arrow. He falls on the path and tumbles toward the edge and slips over the edge of the cliff toward the ocean below.
At Reyllnn's comment Elias arches an eyebrow and says to her in Elvish:
"I will not be chastised by you young one. You have no idea how calloused I can be when someone or something messes with my friends and Ned did just that. We rescued him and yet he would not answer our questions. We untied him and he tried to escape by sucker punching Reg. He got what he deserved!" "My conscious is clear and there will be no apologies on my feelings or my actions regarding Ned!"
“The fact remains, we are in the wrong. We will already be in trouble with the law, there is no need to antagonize the locals farther. I don’t know about your needs, but I wish to maintain a respectable reputation in these parts.”
"Nay young one. We are not in the wrong.....He attacked us. The bandits and the undead in that house attacked us. How in any stretch of anyone's imagination did we break the law? As far as our reputation.....I think the town and the law will Thank Us for what we have done to rid these parts of some smugglers, bandits, and undead. If anything is said about Ned you can tell them the truth....it was my arrow that sent him over the edge!"
"Elias, it is true that we were attacked, but we also had no authority to be in the house in the first place. We were not sent by the law, nor do we represent it. Killing bandits that had undead pets is on thing. But that man... he needn't have died. I appreciate that you did everything you could to keep him from taking that tumble, and that you did only what was necessary. Just... screaming it to the world may not be the wisest move, that's all."

Captain Blackhand: Never one to leave a sailor to drown, Beric yells, "Man overboard!" as he sprints toward the edge of the cliff. Judging the distance to the water and it's depth as he runs, the veteran seaman attempts to spot the man far below.
Perception: 18
Assuming the distance survivable, the Pirate finds the safest point, nearest to where Ned fell, before diving into the dark water.
Elias says: "Captain Fireborn did ask us if we wanted to help in the matter. We were supposed to meet him in the morning. Everyone knows the best scouting is done at night so,we did just that. In my eyes we did have permission to investigate and we were attacked. So we defended ourselves."
If Reg is able to rescue Ned from the edge of the cliff, fine. If not, he will set up to lower his rope to help Captain Blackhand climb back up (with or without the rescued party).

OOC: Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you had a wonderful holiday.
In walking to the house, you remembered that the pathway went along the top of a sheer cliff wall that led straight down to the ocean approximately 100 feet below as in the photo below.
Due to the late hour and everything being in total darkness (which is actually forgot to account for in the fight for both the party and Ned), anyone without darkvision will not be able to see anything beyond torchlight, which I assume you brought with you from inside the house.
Elias looks over the edge and does not see anything down to the 60 feet of his darkvision. The ocean is further below, but out of view.
Beric, you assessed the area when you arrived here and I will say that your prior experience with the ocean would tell if it was safe or not to jump. Jumping into the darkness, you dive not too gracefully and land with a smacking bellyflop. Quickly righting yourself, you swim the area at the base of the cliff wall, but are unable to see anything in the darkness and cannot find Ned, living or otherwise. You see the party's torchlight at the top of the cliff and swim to the base of the cliff just below where they are and find the rope that Reginald has lovered for you. Soaking wet and shivering slightly from the ocean wind that is blowing at your back, you climb back to the top of the cliff where the rest of your party awaits.
OOC: Yes, Christmas was great! I hope everyone had a great holiday (except Ned, of course).
"Well, that was unfortunate," says Reg, "Still, we told him not to run. Let's check out the rest of this house and get back to the tavern." Reg somewhat sleepily heads back inside to towards the unexplored portion of the house.

Looking at the house layout, it looks like there are two rooms upstairs and two rooms on the ground level that are yet unexplored. No enemies appear to be present in any of these rooms and you find 2 crystals worth 10 gold each and some loose gems worth 50 gold all together. No other useful items are found in the house.

Elias will go to the edge, look over to see if he can see Ned, and yell: "Get back up here I want my arrows back....those things are not cheap!"
Reyllnn casts a sidelong glance at Elias. ”That’s somewhat callous. We did just end his life, after all.”
