Captain Blackhand: With a hearty laugh, the Pirate answers, "Aye, matey! If'n yer buyin' the first round to wet me whistle, I'll tell ye anythin' ye'd like to 'ear!"

Elias orders a bottle of rum and pours himself and Cap a drink and says: "You being the Captain of a ship I thought you might have some knowledge you could help me with. What can you tell me about how raiders/slavers do their vile business? Once they leave ....... say from Saltmarsh what would be a likely destination or are there multiple? I would appreciate any insight you could give me."
Keric pours of a bit of rum for himself and knocks it back, "Aye, that reminds me of the old days." He turns to Elias and says, "I don't care much for slavers. Smugglers, fugitives, all those types I've rowed the blessings of the ***** queen for, but never slavers. A dirty business that is."
Captain Blackhand: Raising an eyebrow at the question, the Pirate Captain pours himself a drink. Feigning offense, he smirks and says, "Arr... what makes ye think I know anythin' 'bout slavers? Just what are ye implyin?"
With a chuckle, he continues, "I'm jus' pullin' yer leg! I knows me own reputation well 'nough, but 'alf of it ain't true and the other 'alf is far more heroic, I assure ye. I ain't never dealt in slaves meself. Most civ'lized ports don't tolerate it. They'd need to find buyers, so likely they'd be shipped to some lawless land 'cross the sea."
Elias nods at Keric and and says: "Any help anyone could give I would appreciate it. I was not aware you where a sailing man too. It seems I have gained some new friends that may be able to help me with a problem!"
Elias turns to Cap and says: "I did not mean to imply in any way that you where in the slave trade. I thought with your experience you might have an insight in the way they operate."
Elias says: "Well as you can guess my original home is the forests but, it seems fate has pushed me to the coasts and while I have learned quickly there is a lot more I need to learn. It seems fate has also put me into company of friends who might help.....in knowledge if nothing else.....which is extremely valuable."
Hanna tells Elias "yes, his home is on the southern edge of town overlooking the sea." She points the direction "make your way to the Sharkfin bridge and turn right. Then a left at the jail will take you directly to him."
As the group leaves the inn and is traveling along the road to the Captain's house, you are stopped by a city guard just as you near the jail, who tells you that the Captain wishes to see you. He then proceeds to walk you up the path to the house that overlooks the ocean. The guard open's the door and you step into the home. Captain Fireborn is setting in a chair in the living room of his abode, which is also a large library. He is Thumbing through a book when you walk in and closes it and stands, his wooden leg clopping on the floor of the home. "Good afternoon, I was looking to meet with you this morning to come together about this whole issue that Eustal caused last night, but word reached me that you made off to the house in the middle of the night on your own. While this is not exactly what I would have advised, I appreciate your gusto in seeing this matter closed. So, were you able to find anything at the old house that may confirm Eustal's story?"
”Some of our number were anxious to scout the trail before it went cold, Captain, so we left immediately last night. It troubles me that you have already heard of it, though, as we were trying to keep it quiet in case you wanted to set a trap to snare the smuggler’s ship,” starts Reg.
”We found some skeletons, including one who wore robes. There was a smuggler’s den hidden under the house, including a hidden dock, crates of contraband, and what seemed to be a candle communication system for the smugglers. It wouldn’t surprise me if the smugglers worked a deal with the undead leader to scare people away from investigating the abandoned house ,” he adds, looking to the others to provide more detail.

"Hanna at the Snapping Line told me you left shortly after we took Eustal away and came back near daylight looking very tired. I had only assumed you went to the house and my guards confirmed you had traveled that way last night. At any rate, I appreciate you investigating the area and bringing your findings. Saltmarsh constantly struggles with smugglers and it makes sense they would set up outside of town where most people dare not travel. I am not so sure about them making a deal with the undead unless they were the ones who raised them from the dead as they are often mindless and only follow the direction of their master. If the area is clear we can send townsfolk to retrieve the smuggled goods and return them to their rightful owners."
"I would also ask that you use the information you found to investigate this smuggling ring further. There must be a ship they use to move the goods and if you can apprehend this crew or otherwise stop them from further smuggling operations, the town will be most grateful. For your service last night I would like to offer this as a reward for removing the threat at the house." He hands a bag of 200 gold pieces to Reginald.
”Thank you, Captain,” says Reg, handing the coinage over to whomever has the bag of holding. Looking at Beric, he asks, “Do you think we can still get the drop on the smugglers tonight with the candle system even if the townfolk reclaim the stolen goods, or should we be more careful with advertising the hideout’s location?”
Returning his gaze to the Captain, he says, “If we can lure the smuggler’s ship into the hideout tonight, can you have a nearby hidden ship ready to intercept if they make a run for it?”

Captain Blackhand: Shaking his head, the Pirate strokes his long black mustache in thought before answering, "Me guts tell me crafty Ned survived the sea las' night. Best to be actin' quickly and to keep this business secret fer now. We be needin' the contraband to lure 'em into our trap."
Laying out his plan, Beric continues, "It be simply 'nough. We disguise ourselfs as smugglers b'fore we signal the ship. When they come ashore, we jump 'em, take their clothes and row back with the cargo. Hero that I be, I bravely vol'nteer to swim ahead to disable their rudder and rig their anchor. Should be no need fer 'nother ship, and it might spook 'em."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Reginald of Neverwinter:
Reg is a bit suspicious--he knows Beric really wants his own ship, and this seems to be a plan perfectly crafted to do just that. Is this really what is best for dealing with the smugglers, or is Beric just being opportunistic?

Reginald rolled insight against Beric so if your intentions are true to disable the ship and that’s it you can say so but if you have other things up your sleeve you can roll deception

Elias will thank Hanna and turn to the party and say: "Well what say we get this over with?" Elias will stand and head for the door.
Reginald of Neverwinter:
”Definitely,” says Reg in response to Elias, heading out the door with him.
