In the northern room, you can see this was once the wine cellar for the home.
Shoulder-height wooden bottle racks line the north and west walls here. There appear to be no intact bottles left in the racks and shattered bottles cover the floor.
Against the east wall, at the foot of the stairs, rest two large metal storage bins that appear to be empty.
In the center of the room lies a human corpse clad in plate mail; a longsword lies by the corpse’s right side, and a large shield covers its legs.
”I don’t like the way that shield is covering his lower body,” cautions Reg, “maybe flip that over from a distance in case there is something hiding under it.”
OOC: Do I need to re-roll my perception & investigation checks from when I said moving to North door?
Looking in the room, you see the wine racks, broken bottles, and the corpse in the middle of the floor. From your location nothing else seems to catch your attention at the moment. You can see that the corpse is heavily armored in plate mail and there appears to be dents in the metal, but nothing in here seems to be the cause of such damage.
Captain Blackhand: Beric quickly wraps his Shortbow over his left shoulder as he cautiously creeps toward the corpse. Wary of traps, he silently draws his Cutlass and Dagger as he nears the body. Stretching forward, he slowly lifts the shield with the tip of his sword.

You move quietly toward the body, checking for danger as you move closer. With your sword, you reach for the shield and flip it out of the way. There is nothing underneath the shield but the legs of the body. As you stand there for a moment, you start to hear a crawling/gurgling noise. Suddenly around the edges of the armor, gray worms begin to appear. They remind you of curdled milk being squeezed from a waterskin. As you step back you see a mass of the worms crawl out of the armor, their mouths gnashing as the move toward the thing that disturbed their meal.
Captain Blackhand: Releasing a startled yelp as he jumps backward, Beric exclaims, "Stay back! Ye don't wanna get infested! Trust me, mates! I know!" The Pirate scratches himself obscenely to emphasize his point, laughing merrily as he steps back and throws his Dagger at the grubs crawling toward him.
Attack: 10 Damage: 5 + 1 (Sneak Attack: Elias Adjacent)
The large quantity of grubs is assaulted by sword slashes from Elias, a boomerang from Shaul, and daggers from Beric. They seem to be taking damage, but due to the number and how the small creatures are spread, they are not taking quite as much damage from these types of attacks. Reyllnn hurts a Fire Bolt, which blasts a large portion of the grubs away.
Reg moves up to the spot the captain just vacated, drawing a torch as he goes. Not having time to actually light it yet, he waves it in front of him defensively and angles his shield to try and keep the grubs from getting to him or the rest of the group (using the Dodge action).
"Stay behind me and hit it with fire if you can!" he calls out.

OoC - "curdled milk being squeezed out of a waterskin" groooooss, bit awesome description.
Keric Mar:
Keric levels his hammer at the mass of worms and whispers, "She surrounds and drowns and sweeps away." As he finishes the dread benediction, a dolorous bell rings out from the area above the grubs.
Toll the dead - 8 Necrotic damage vs DC13 wisdom save
With the toll the dead, another large swath of grubs is blasted away. This would be the first swarm dead. The second swarm moves one square south and Reg moves up to it with his dodge action. Back to the top of the round
Seeing the grubs only moving one square, Reg calls, “Let’s back up together,” as he swings at the swarm with an unlit torch (basically a club) and takes a guarded step back.
Attack: 10 Damage: 4
