Dor swears violently under his breath, maintaining readiness as well as staying still, he casts Healing Word again on Boofa, burning his 2nd spell slot.
"Gah! I won't be able to do this again!! THULDOR!!!"

Nadariel sees Chadwick face to face with his Brother in Arms. He moves back north, pretty much to were he started when he cast his first spell just seconds ago. You can hear him mumbling in a strange language and suddenly the flames around the unconscious Elf vanish just to roar up under Chadwick this time. He doesn’t stop mumbling and one of the daggers magically draws itself from the wound it caused in Boofas shoulder and falls to the ground.

Jilrana changes her focus to the Halfling after dropping the Elf. It was amazing the opposing group had just left the Gnome lying in the dust, but she wasn't complaining. This was quickly turning into a wreckage for them, and all the better for her. Still, eventually they would be her brethren in the army, and she could only hope they would shape up quick. Ignoring the quarrel flying past, she takes aim again while continuously casting glances at Boofa who seems to be getting the brunt of the assault. He is weathering it well with the group's aid, striking an imposing figure on the battlefield. Soon she will have to step in to help him heal, but for now the others have him covered.

Boofa swings his blunted greataxe at Chadwick. The back to back attacking+healing has left him in a slight state of confusion, and this has enraged Boofa. His anger get's the best of him.
Elisha weaves her and releases a blast of ice blue frost at the halfling but his shifting movements proved too difficult of a target with the strike. Dor remains shielded and casts a healing light out out to an injured Boofa. Nadariel moves about splitting his attention on both offense and defense. He lights a fire under the halfling causing him to dance about and sends a healing light of his to seal up more of Boofa's wounds. Jilrana, capitalizing on the distracting heat Nadariel caused, releases a blunted bolt and strikes the halfling in center mass. The blow knocks the wind out of him, and the fight as well. Boofa steps up and with a mighty swing of his ax slams straight into the side of the Chadwicks shield, not slowing his momentum at all and both ax and shield crash into him. The force of it all tosses Chadwick to the ground where he rolls violently for ten feet before laying there limply.
Bull, being the only one on his team standing at this point lets out a frustrated sigh. He takes his shortswords and pushes the points into the ground. He crosses his arms and steps back. "I yield!" he shouts and then just stands their weighting.
A shrill whistle blows and everyone turns to the captain. "The match is now ended. Team 4 the victor." He gives a nod to a few men at the side and they rush over and start offering healing to raise the fallen back to their feet. "Team 4, back to the sidelines." he calls out. Slowly, the healers finish up their work, the offices all the while finish up scribbling notes upon the parchment. Eventually, everyone makes it back over to the sidelines, your opponents still bruised and battered but no lasting injuries will remain after a few days rest.
The captain tuns to Group 4 and says, "Well done, you picked your targets tactfully and capitalized off of eachothers attacks. Dor, I see you are confident in you healing ability, later on I hope to see potential combat ability. Elisha, your preparation did not go unnoticed by us. It was well placed but your aim targeting spells could use some work. Boofa, you strength at arms is impressive but you need to work on that defense. Nadariel, the dual spell was impressive but beware with all that running around. You put distance between you and your enemies but also your squad. Today it worked out but it may not always be the case in the field. Jilrana, you seem to have good senses on you and a fine ability to hit your target. Hopefully, that proves to be skill and not just luck. Time will only tell. For now, feel free to take a knee and watch the other groups."
The Captain then moves over to the other group. He addresses each of the members in kind giving constructive criticism. It's an interesting process to watch. He provides them the flaws that he noted, ideas on how to improve the team work and then provides them with things that they had done that were positive. When finished he calls the next groups up to fight.
Jilrana gives Boofa a friendly jab of her elbow."Don't worry about it. You did great, exactly what we needed." she says, still beaming from the compliment the Captain gave her. The match had gone even better than she had imagined, not even a single casualty in the group, and her companions were competent and clever, each in their own way. It might have actually been the best she had ever performed on a group task. Still, those in the other team might one day fight alongside her, so she takes a few minutes to wander over to the group and give each a few kind words as well, doing her best to be positive about their display of arms and give them a mental boost for their life as a fellow soldier.
When she returns to the group she makes her way over to Elisha. "That thing you did to get the Gnome to sleep, well done! You turned the tables in our favor from the very first moment."she says, then turning to the entirety of the group, "That was one heck of a show we put on. Fantastic job, each of you."
Elisha looks to Jilrana and says: "Thank you but I need work on my aim maybe I need some lessons from you on ranged attacks. It does worry me Boofa took quite a few hits but, he handled it well thanks to the healing from Dor. And Nadariel....those bonfires were awesome"
“T.the fight was over so quickly, you only saw h.half their power. I.imagin what would happen if you stay longer in them, or what w.would happen if you try to get away but Boofa is fighting you. Or i.imagin what would happen if you get dragged b.back inside one of them by something.”
You may see a little thorny vine of blackberry grow down Nadariels arm like a living snake, just to disapear as soon as you blink.
Over the course of the next hour the following battles happen. After the others had seen the first mock battle, there was more discussion regarding tactics then your opponents. The second battle, displayed a fair amount of ranged combats with one group spread out shooting from multiple directions while the others grouped behind two shielded and shot from there. The group with the shields proved the victors but not by much. One was left standing but heavily wounded himself. The third bout was more back and forth with melee fighters, people getting knocked down, people getting healed and falling again. Eventually, it came down to one man getting to confident in his own ability and trying to show off with a fancy sword trick only to botch it and leave a wide opening for a sorcerous to push him over an unconcious teammate and buy enough time to cast a spell. At the end of it all only Team 4 had all it's members standing at the end. Though there were not going to be any follow up matches today, many of the other soldiers had silently regarded your team as the winners due to that fact.
The rest of the day continued as normal, perimeter patrols, weapon training, meals, cleaning, and small amount of free time at the end of the day. Just after evening meal, a female gnome, with dark black hair down to her waists, tied back in what appeared to be five separate pony tails, and wearing an officer uniform, though dirty, with a thick staff in her hand, pulls your squad aside. "I've head that you have done well today from the Captain. So well that he thinks a little more... real world experience is in order." She smiles, and motions for you to follow her. "Tomorrow, you will have a true test. As you know, recruits are trained here to become elite squads. A cut above common soldiers. Part of that is through trial and tribulation and your firsts have arose, arisen... you know what I mean."
She brings you to the supply room and lets you look around. "Tomorrow morning, you will pick up your gear here. Check it out and then head to the forest. You have several tasks. The first, surviving a week out in the forests near the base. It's wild, it's untamed, it's possibly dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. The second, watch for signs of goblins. There has been an increasing request for aid from some of the nearby villages regarding goblin attacks and we have it on good authority that they have been spotted out in the forests. If you encounter a small group, you can eliminate them. If the number is large, you can report back immediately. Report to pick up your gear by 6 am tomorrow morning. Questions?"
Nadariel aproaches the Gnome and asks her: “I already got an idea of w.what i am looking for. C.could i leave you a list, to make it faster t.tomorow?”
Jilrana looks around the room, mentally marking off things she would like to see included on the gear list to complement what she already has, then forwarding those items to the Gnome. "I'm happy we get to stay as this group." she remarks in between her search of the room, then nods when Dor mentions oil and lamp. "A lamp is preferable to a torch anyway, so if we can have it I'd put that on the list regardless."
The gnome smiles broadly and says, "If you have a list, then leave it and it will be ready for sign out tomorrow morning. As for weather, I hear it's all part of the challenge." She gives a straight face for a few moments and then chuckles at her own joke and leaves you standing there in the supply room. Her demeanor is a little odd. While she is of higher rank, she appears more laxs with the standard chain of command.
Feel free to talk among yourselves if you want to strategist or anything. I'll get a more substantial post up tomorrow with your entrance to the woods.

Boofa, realizing the spar was over, snapped out of his angered state. He was glad Chadwick was alright, and went back to his group.
"I'm sorry, my anger got out of hand. I shouldn't have been so harsh. I am trying to control my anger and use it more precisely."
Boofa calms down, and waits for the next group to fight.
Dor agreeably smiles at the note of "potential combat ability" and watches the remaining combatants with interest.
Nadariel follows the rest of group 4 to the sidelines to watch the next match.
“T.that was fast, do you think there will be a.another fight? I d.don’t remember if the Captain mentioned how many fights we would have.”

Dor stands there smiling like a fool at all the compliments he's getting for his healing.
He seems quiet pleased with both himself and the team.

Dor pulls his beard slowly in contemplation,
"Any chance we are going to have a weather report beforehand? Chance of rain?"
He nods,
"I've done a lot of night patrols. Its a lot easier if going into it we know whether to make torches or bring oil and lamp."

Boofa also makes note of what he wants from the supply room. He is proud of what the team has done.
"No questions here, maam. Thank you for this oppurtunity."

Dor looks at the gnome, puzzles for a moment then acknowledges Jilrana's words,
"Aye, I suppose any time is a good time for a lamp and oil. We'll be sure to pack some..."
He trails off at the end of his sentence.
