Tempest's firebolt hits its mark, but it just hisses and goes out when it hits, not doing anything discernible. Buppido's crossbow bolt does a little better, it sinks deep into the ooze and begins to corrode immediately. It seems like it's barely holding itself together, gray slime is pouring off of it and dissipating into the water.
Sarith steps forward, and raises his hand crossbow.
Attack: 16 Damage: 3
Again, the crossbow bolt sinks in deep, and this time, the ooze collapses on itself. It seeps off the rocks and into the water, where it dissipates slowly.
Now that you dealt with the ooze and have a moment to catch your breath, you can see that the cavern has 3 exits, one to the north, one to the west, and one to the south. The battle up above rages on, you hear the echoes of demonic screams and shouts of the drow all around you.
Ront is charging up to the slime but pulls up short when he sees it's too late to land a blow. He shrugs, stows his disposable weapons and hefts his greataxe, grunting Which?
Gadvelt rege fades as he looks at the dripping chains, and tries to save a souvenir - a couple links or a shackle that's not oozy. He thinks an idea to everyone I'm gonna toss these down a passageway we don't take. What did we settle on, Neverlight?

Sarith nods. North leads to Menzoberranzan...where they were going to take us eventually. West goes directly to Darklake, South to Gracklestugh, then around to Neverlight.

Jimjar interjects, "Blingdenstone is also to the north, not just Menzoberranzan. But Neverlight Grove sounds like a wonderful place to go, I've always wanted to see it. I still don't want to go to Gracklestugh. 10 gold says they make us slaves or make us dead just as fast as the drow would."
"I'm all for leaving quickly," Don says telepathically, "but we should all take the time to put on our armor. I need but a minute. Egret, I see your heavy chain, how long does it take you to get into that?" Don begins strapping himself into his leathers.
Tempest tries to ring as much water from her sodden dress as she can, then takes time to actually check her spell book, component pouch, and her backpack more carefully. when everything is accounted for, she will wait till everyone is done donning their gear, then follow which ever way they decide to go, since one direction is as good as another to her at this point. Just as long as it is away from here.
Gadvelt will drop the chains near the north entrance, then wield shield and shovel. As folk put on armor he'll look and ask to see if anyone needs equipping. He could lend a shortbow or a mattock to Eldeth, for example if she didn't recover any gear. Happy to go in the lead

As you go about discussing your options, strapping on your armor, and checking your gear, you hear a terrible shriek, and a vrock hurtles over your heads and slams into the wall next to the south passage. It picks itself up off the ground, shaking its head as if to clear it. Then, it turns its unnearthly red eyes to the large group of puny humanoids near it and raises up to its full height, towering over you. It spreads its wings out, dripping black ichor everywhere and shrieks. Its body blocks the way to the south passage.
(Same initiative order as the ooze. If you were strapping on armor, take a -1 penalty to AC since you didn't quite get it all on. Egret is up.)

"Time to go, and I think west it is. Fighting retreat sounds like the best option." And Egret will head towards the west passage, gesturing at the creature as an unseen bell sounds in the air around it.
Toll the Dead: DC 14 Wis save, Damage (assuming its not at full health): 8
Tempest takes a moment to cast frostbite at the fiend. It has to do a DC 13 con save or take 3 cold damage and it has disadvantage on its next weapon attack. If it saves then nothing.
The frost forms for a few seconds on the demon, but it doesn't even take any notice of it. It quickly turns to water, which mixes with the black ichor flowing off of it.
Buppido shoots it with his crossbow.
Attack: 13 Damage: 3

"South then..." Buppito suggests, heading in that direction. He waves the group to come along as he moves out.

Egret will not move, looking to the humans and Gad.

The attack hits, but doesn't quite as much damage as it should have. Its skin is like iron, and it shrugs off your attack like it was nothing.
Topsy looks up at the giant demon, utters a frightened squeak, and takes off toward the west exit.

Buppido glares at the fiend. "These are mine..." He yells at it, then shoots a crossbow bolt at it.
Attack: 16 Damage: 4
Hit or miss he then makes towards the Western door, as that is where he saw the others head.
