Rigel slips out of Grol's room and turns left. He dashes through the hobgoblin barracks to the door on the south side. He opens it a crack and peeks through.
Rigle sees two bugbears creeping down the passage, trying to stay as quiet as they can but their armor keeps making audible noise as it scraps against the stone walls of the interior structure. He is fairly certain that they have not noticed him spying on them.
Rigel motions everyone to be quiet as he indicates that there are two enemies approaching. He waves his hand to indicate that everyone should quickly move to the other door to the barracks. He will position himself in front of the door barring it if possible.
Not fully registering the problem, and only vaguely understanding the request, Marcon moves to the southern door. Whether it was curiosity or the misunderstanding at work, the door, if not locked or barred, is soon opened by the dull-eyed ex-farmhand as well. Though at the very least, he attempts to do so quietly in mirroring Rigel.

The group gathers inside the barracks as instructed while Rigel listens at the western door. He hears the bugbears move down the hall and their voices fade as they proceed into what the ranger assumes is the curtained room to the north. (OOC: roll perception to try and make out what they are saying.)
Marcon finds the southern door not only unlocked but already open. Peering inside, he discovers that the upper floors of this tower have collapsed to create a hollow silo at least thirty feet high, and the upper reaches of the room are lost in shadows. Dust, rubble, and broken glass cover the floor, and old worktables and bookshelves lie strewn to the south. The floor is littered with the bones of medium-sized creatures and several piles of animal dung, however no living creatures are present.
A gust of wind blows the stench of rotting death and feces into the room where the party is hiding, hitting each member in the face like a warhammer. (OOC: everyone make a Constitution saving throw at DC 13. Failure causes you to wretch uncontrollably at the smell...which requires a Stealth check to try to do so quietly, if you have not already rolled Stealth in this room.)
In between muffled giggles, the two goblins point towards the room in front of Marcon, saying:"We lets loose the monster, we did!!"
Having dealt with similar odiousness back home... only prepared Marcon so much for the scent that comes out of the room. Fortunately, he has enough since of mind to cover his mouth to muffle the sound of breakfast escaping through the front door. Though it took him a few moments more to gather the focus and resolve needed to finally closer the door, and stiffle at least some of the scent; leaving a nice, goopy handprint on whatever amounted a door handle for it.
"Can we move yet?" He whispers to Rigel only after establishing some semblance of control again... or his body having finished vacated the rest of breakfast. Whichever really came first...
Marcon and Garet heave at the stench, though manage to do so quietly so as to not alert the wandering guards, however Rigel is unable to make out what the hobgoblins are saying to one another as they pass by the door over the sound of his companions' wretching.
In resonse to Garet's question, Spit flips his long ears up straight and mimics the sound of an owl by making "hoot" noises. Stopit drops to all fours and claws at the air while making "roar" sounds.
The halls fall silent once again and party is left to decide what to do next.
Ronk heaves, but stays quiet, looking for a moment like a cat with a hairball. "The owlbear?" He looks at the goblins. "Is there another way out of here? I don't think that owlbear went past us... Did it?"
" Aye," whispers Rigel. "That's what I saw the hobgoblins fighting out side. Now shhh..." The ranger peeks out the door again. If the bug bears have moved he will slowly open the door and move out into the hall.
Marcon morosely follows at the very tail end of the group unless dictated otherwise. Though the stench yet burned his nose, the discomfort could only distract him so much away from the present problems... and past mistakes.
