Unless bid to hang back, Marcon walks up to stand beside Rigel at the mouth of the eastern chamber and hold his torch just a little ways higher to better view things. "Oof... This must've been one heck of a fight."He commented softly as if afraid of waking the dead. "No sign or peep of the perp so far, or.. are missing dwarf. So, I guess we keep pushing on, yah?"He asked,

Rigel's inspection reveals shuffling, shambling tracks as if some bipedal humanoid - or rather several bi-pedal humanoids - walked slowly whilst dragging their feet along the ground. Just as he began to work out the correlation between the tracks and the corpses, the door to the barracks slams shut behind them and the heavy bracing bar can be heard falling into place!
Eight of the more than a dozen corpses began to rise and slowly turned their desiccated heads to face towards the party. At the same time, a tiny floating skull surrounded by green flames descends from the ceiling. "Intruders!" it screams before launching an assault!

"Hey," Van shakes his head at the skull. "None of that from you," he pulls his scimitar with one hand and using two fingers from his free one sends fire blowing at the skull.
Bright embers pour off the floating skull as if Rigel had struck a bucket of red hot coals. It screeches and hisses at him but does not recoil or retreat from the attacks.
Garet moves to the center of the room. Pulls out his Nature emblem points forward and recites slowly "go away unholy creatures. go back to soil. go back to your place in the life circle"

Five of the zombies burst into holy fire in response to Garet's prayer - seconds later they are nothing more than ash upon the ground! The floating, flaming skull recoils in horror and turns to flee from the sight of the firbolg!
One of the zombies (Z1) that had escaped Garet's holy purge, shambles down from the northwest corner of the room and swings a rotting fist at Rigel: Attack (Slam): 4 vs. AC 16 (Rigel), dealing 6 bludgeoning damage on a hit.

Marcon blinks owlishly at the result of Garet's magic. But promptly snapping back to attention just barely seeing Rigel take a slug from a survivor, the ex-farmhand hurries to the ranger's side with a curt, "Hang in there, Rigel. I'm a come'n!"Yet even when close, there's a moment's hesitation on the young man's part, before he opts to spare the torch still in hand and just use his shield instead to hammer at the zombies legs to bring it down, before bringing the shield in again to smash its skull in one way or another.
Movement: Immediate left of Zombie(1).
Action: Shield Rush on Zombie(1)! Attack #1 - ShoveProne attempt on (Z1) with an Athletics: 17. Improvised Weapon Attack - Attack #2: 14 Damage: 5 non-magical bludgeoning to Zombie(1). If knocked prone, here's adv roll and potential crit bonus: 19, 5.
Rigel lands a firm blow on the handball-sized skull, which sends it careening off into the darkness. Likewise, Ronk is able to land all three of his attacks on the zombie that has just crawld out of the waterway.
ZOMBIE 3 makes its way across the waterway as well (OOC: using dash and expending all movement) to close the gap on Marcon, who now finds himself faced with two undead denizens of the underground complex.
(OOC: START OF ROUND 2, initiative count is on Vanzaren.)
Rigel chops the animated corpse limb from limb and finishes with a killing blow to head, destroying the zombie's brain. Though he knows these particular type of undead can often recover from horrible injuries, the ranger is certain that this one won't be getting back up again.
