The Exploits of Misfit Company

"Well, we found your egg in a palace in the Plane of Air, and brought you here."

Kasha watches with an amazed smile as Stella talks to Aryn. "Hello! I'm Kasha!" then she blinks. "Oh wait, you can't understand me."

Aryn says a series of words in Draconic that you don't understand and in the middle of that, you hear "Kasha."

Stella understands that Aryn is saying Hi Kasha, nice to meet you

Kasha melts because it's so adorable.

"She says hi Kasha, nice to meet you," Stella translates.

Alys would smile watching Stella communicate with and translate for the dragon. She’d also giggle at Kasha’s enthusiasm. So instead of casting [spell]Comprehend Languages[spell] on herself, she’d cast it on Kasha so she could join Stella in conversation with Aryn. 

Noticing Yvan’s waver and retreat, Alys would send a gentle message his way. You did great supporting Stella. The elf would offer his an encouraging smile. And I was okay with dawn. Would you like to tend the garden and refresh our healing supplies with me before we go? She’d ask. The scholar enjoyed crisp mornings herself and really did want to update her kit. And did he still have his question? She’d wonder. 

As the girls adorably chatted with their new hatchling, Alys would also reach out telepathically to B. Whether she’d reach him would be another story. Hi B. Sorry to interrupt. I thought I’d pass the message along. She’d nudge. But our dragon egg has hatched and the Misfits have been approached with another job.

Yvan was glad of Aryn's existence quickly gathering the groups attention so he could safely fall back into silence. He had no idea why he decided to speak up the way he did, never having done so before (save for one instance, but that was a different circumstance). His brow would crease at his mental chiding, but he tries to draw his attention to the girls now doting over the hatchling in hopes of repressing them. It works for a bit until he hears Alys' assuring words.

He releases a breath he hadn't known he was holding, his nerves relaxing. Thank you...  He would reply after a moment. She always knew what to say to help him calm down. I... I would like that very much... My question... it has something to do with that, actually... He says, giving her some slight insight on what it was he planned to ask, to help ebb some curiosity of hers for now. Seeing as their little meeting was concluded, he still allows a minute or so to pass (had she wanted to add anything on), again watching the girls converse with the dragon again in the meantime (despite not understanding what was said), but eventually speaks again when there had been a break in the conversation. "I'll be... outside." He would notify them, then gives a nod over to Faras. "Enjoy your stay."

The goliath would then make way past the man, heading to where he said he would be.

Kasha turned to Stella.

"Um. Stella?" she said meekly, partially whispering. "If you teach me to read, can I read to Aryn? Would that be ok?"

She turned to Aryn, too.

"Do you like peanuts? And chocolate?"

Stella smiles at Kasha, whispering back. "I'd be delighted to teach you how to read, Kasha. I think that would absolutely be okay."

"What are those?" 

Kasha gasped so loud she nearly lost consciousness again.

She turned to run out of the room so fast, she tripped and fell, scrambled back up, and was gone for about a minute.

Down the hall, there was the sound of dishes breaking, a goose honking, drawers loudly opening and closing, and then a moment of silence.

When Kasha returned, she was completely drenched in sweat, panting, but in her outstretched hands were the perfect sampling of chocolate covered peanuts.

"These!" she said, and swallowed, catching her breath. 

Aryn eats the peanuts. It seems like she enjoys the taste, but something is off. "It's sweet, but I don't like the way the peanuts feel." She looks at Stella. "How am I able to understand you but not them?"

"Well, normally I don't speak Draconic, but Vastra cast a spell that lets us understand each other," Stella explains. "But it's only been cast on Kasha and myself right now."

"What do you speak?"

"I speak Common, and Elvish, and Halfling. And also a coded language called thieves cant."

Kasha shrugs and dumps the rest of the food into her mouth, chewing loudly.

"Thieves can't what?"

Kasha opened her mouth to answer, thought about it for a second, and decided not to answer and leave it for the smarter folk.

"Oh no, that's the name of the language. Thieves cant. Cant is also another word for code, or a secret language."

"Oh. Can you teach me to speak those languages?"
