So for this particular Chronicle, we used three different kinds of combat options. Each one is slightly different.
1. Fast Conflict:This is where I assign a DV to an enemy (Blood: DV2) and you form your pool and roll. If you beat the DV, that enemy is defeated, and if you roll lower, you take damage based on the margin of failure and try again next turn. This combat is super fast and abstract, and I don't even roll for the enemy. No Disciplines, Rousing, or Willpower is used.
2. One-Roll Conflict: This is the one where I set two DVs for an enemy, one to hit it, and one for damage determination. (Blood DV2/4) If you roll above the first DV number, you hit, and we determine damage from the abstract exchange by comparing margins off the second DV number. If you hit, the enemy is defeated. No Disciplines, Rousing, or Willpower is used.
3. Three Rounds Conflict:This type takes longer but allows all of the basic rules like dodging and attacking multiple opponents. Each player takes a turn rolling dice pools against the enemy dice pools trying to get the highest margin against your opponent and determining damage from the difference. This mode allows Disciplines, Rousing, and Willpower. Nothing is excluded.
Which one do you like, and which one do you not like? Do you prefer one or the other in certain situations?
Alessandra hated seeing her friends succumb to the Beast because there was absolutely nothing she could do about it aside from waiting and letting it pass. It was clear how badly it affected Sorrin and Misha when they were able to gain control again. Though she couldn't dwell on it more as when she hears the blast, begins booking it towards the nearest exit, keeping her eyes closely on the rest to make sure no one needed help in getting out.
(Fast conflict for the same reason Sassy says, though it's sad you can't rouse or do anything fun with your disciplines :c)

1. Fast Conflict (Minions):This is where I assign a DV to an enemy (Blood: DV2) and you form your pool and roll. If you beat the DV, that enemy is defeated, and if you roll lower, you take damage based on the margin of failure and try again next turn. This combat is super fast and abstract, and I don't even roll for the enemy. No Disciplines, Rousing, or Willpower is used.
2. One-Roll Conflict (Lieutenants): This is the one where I set two DVs for an enemy, one to hit it, and one for damage determination. (Blood DV2/4) If you roll above the first DV number, you hit, and we determine damage from the abstract exchange by comparing margins off the second DV number. If you hit, the enemy is defeated. No Disciplines, Rousing, or Willpower is used.
3. Three Rounds Conflict (Bosses):This type takes longer but allows all of the basic rules like dodging and attacking multiple opponents. Each player takes a turn rolling dice pools against the enemy dice pools trying to get the highest margin against your opponent and determining damage from the difference. This mode allows Disciplines, Rousing, and Willpower. Nothing is excluded.
4. Alt One-Roll Conflict:This is the same as One-Roll Conflict above where an enemy has DV#/# to determine what you need to defeat it, but you can use Rousing, Willpower, and Disciplines. Your disciplines might add bonus dice, you are free to reroll up to three dice with Willpower, and Hunger might grow due to Rousing of abilities. This is a balance of options for Vampires, yet still keeps combat quick with a one roll conflict. If you don't wish to take Health or Willpower damage, you can incur Stains if you wish. Because of the use of Vampire powers, the DV for certain foes might be higher than others to reflect this.
Examples: 1. Fast Conflict. Misha vs Blood 3. Misha rolls 7 successes. This is higher than the DV of 3, so she takes no damage, and defeats the gangster. The conflict is over. 2. One-Roll Conflict. Misha vs Blood 2/3. Misha rolls 4 successes. This beats the DV of 2, so she hits, but it's lower than twice DV3 which is 6, so she takes 2 superdog damage from the exchange. The conflict is over. 3. Three Rounds Conflict. Misha vs Heavy 9. Each combatant rolls. Misha rolls 5 successes, the heavy rolls 2 successes. The difference is damage done to loser. Misha does 3 superdog damage to the Heavy and we move on to the next round. 4. Alt One-Roll Conflict. Misha vs Blood 2/3. Misha can Rouse and activate disciplines, and spend Willpower now. She rolls 1 success vs the first DV2, a fail, and takes 5 superdog damage from the conflict. Disciplines can reduce this damage, or have any other effect based on what is used. The conflict is over with Misha as the loser.
As the church began to crumble down from the fire, the El Hermandad had indeed taken a number of casualties, but many bodies of the Bloods were sprawled across the area. Telling one of the El Hermandad the situation to relay back to Salvador, Misha gave one last look at the Church, the house of a particular God mortals worshiped, and it made her think of a God she once revered. She turned away and got in the car with the others. She was filthy, covered in dried blood that was not hers, and wanted a bath very much. There was no way they could show up at the bar looking like this.
Victor drives back to the hotel and it goes without saying that he'd ask Alessandra and Alana to use their mindwipe powers on any mortal they saw as they made it up to their room. "Shower time. We can't go anywhere looking like this. Every cop in LA would be on us." Once the party had showered and changed, Victor will reload his gun and pour himself some blood to drink. "Back to the bar?" He asks.

Misha undressed out of her filthy clothes and took a long hot shower. Luckily, she had brought a second set of clothes. She looked at herself in the face mirror for a long moment. The passage of time had dulled her memories, but not her rugged athletic looks. She turned her head slightly to each side and noticed that her skin was not perfectly flawless like it always had been now that she was no longer powered by Bane. Before becoming a vampire, she had the light blemishes of a lifetime of war. Now, it was not as present, for the Blood she had was different - a different kind of power. Thinking about Bane only made her sad, so she stopped, and looked away. She frowned and looked at the mirror again, and held the visage, as if she was disappointed with herself.
Ages ago her life was affected by a child named Corrin, and her caretaker Jill. They both touched her life in meaningful ways, but it was because of her memories of Corrin that only centuries later Misha abandoned her duty to Bane as an ambassador - slaying a fellow ambassador who was murdering children in the name of the God of War.
She would never kill children.
Nor would she feed on them.
She grew frustrated that she couldn't remember them more in detail - like trying to remember a dream upon waking, it was fuzzy. Only feelings remained. Strange, how those did not dull from the sands of time. She stood up, annoyed, and dressed. Annoyed not because of the good memories she did remember, but for the ones she could not.
The doorway to Club Zombie was decorated to look like the entrance of a tomb. It definitely looked like a trendy nightclub. Even though there was a very long line to get in, the doorman, who was dressed like a mortician, looked at us carefully as we approached, stamped our hands, and let us in.
The place was a typical nightclub with heavy gothic overtones. The music was deafening, the drinks expensive, and the customers fashionably dressed. There was a huge dance floor and a live band called Blade and the Zombies, rocking out. It was very crowded, and you all had to push your way through to a stairway that led upstairs. A massive attendant checked our hands and let us proceed. The lights were low, the floor decorated with black marble, brass fittings, and blood red carpet. Plenty of alcoves are along the walls, and while the music is just as loud up here, the sound system was much better.
The floor was packed with black and latino gang members sitting around the edges of the floor. They were all heavily armed. Mohammed, Jesus, and Salvador - who was looking slightly better - were in the corner. Salvador smiled and gently waved us over, happy to see us.
"You survived. Excellent. How did it go?" Mohammed yelled over the music.
Truthfully, Alessandra didn't want to go out again. After her shower, all she wanted to do with curl up in bed next to someone and watch television. But she couldn't, so she throws on a simple black dress, heels, and a forced smile to the club. When Mohammed questioned them, she lets someone else do the talking as she was just too mentally and emotionally exhausted to think.

Victor was able to sense the temperature of the Coterie. The five of them had spent the entire night fighting gangsters as what was supposed to be a simple assignment grew increasingly out of control. All of them had gotten their hands dirty with combat and Misha and Sorrin had fallen under the sway of the Beast multiple times. Victor wanted to get out of this gang war and out of LA and he could very easily tell that he wasn't the only one. So he slipped on some club attire and a fake smile and headed to Club Zombie. "It went well." He said, annoyed that he had to call out over the sound systems. "We absolutely slaughtered the Bloods, including that big brute they had with a minigun. I don't think that they'll be troubling you any more. But my Coterie and I are absolutely exhausted from this conflict. Gang wars aren't typically our thing, so we're gonna be heading home. We'll make sure to stop by here the next time we're in LA."
Once out of the club, Victor would be ready to go home and he was certainly looking forward to getting a nice rest on the plane ride back. "Obviously not now, but once we're home and well-rested, would you like me to show you how to use that gun Alana bought you for Christmas?" Victor asks Aless.

As you say your farewells to Mohammed, Jesus, and Salvador, they all thank you for your actions and wish you well. Salvador tells you all to send your regards to Prince Williams. On the way back to Colorado, the snow covered landscape is a pleasant sight. Prince Williams is pleased that you were able to gain a little information on the status of the Free States, and very pleased his friend Salvador was not killed and that vengeance was had. (You guys gain 6 xp a piece.) He dismisses you, and reminds you to stay ever vigilant. You never know when the next assignment will be. You wonder if being a tool of the Camarilla is really worth it - as opposed to the freedom of the Anarchs at the cost of violence.
Victor was glad to be back in Denver. True, he was no great fan of the Prince or the Camarilla that constantly sent him and his friends to do their dirty work, but he had to admit that it was better than living in a place where newly-sired vampires would intrude on your territory or dealing with constant gang wars. The Camarilla was the lesser of two evils in this scenario. Regardless of his opinions, when the Coterie finally got back to his castle, Victor went straight to his room and slept, exhausted after the ordeal in LA.
When he woke up, he waited for Alessandra (and Misha, if she wanted to come along) to wake up before heading off to the gun range that Harold had installed here. "Morning. Ready to learn how to shoot?"

As much as Alessandra didn't like doing dirty work, she much preferred it if it came between this and having to deal with overpopulation and gang wars. Sure, she could handle herself, but having to constantly be looking over your shoulder, ready for a fight, was something she had been doing for years before her slumber. This was the one time in her life she could truly rest and relax, to enjoy life as much as she possibly could, and she would be damned if he had to go back to that life again. She slept easy that night, in the comfort and warmth of her own bed.
Alessandra rose the next day feeling more refreshed than the other night, a smile finally gracing itself across her lips without being forced. What do people wear at gun ranges? She guessed it didn't matter much since she owned it. She slipped on a dark navy blue romper and some heels and called it a day. But, of course, before leaving her room, she takes out the box she put the gun in and takes it out carefully, prior to putting it securely in its holster.
"You sound excited," Alessandra jests as she gives him a good morning kiss. "But, yes, my dear, I believe I am ready."

"Okay then." Victor leads her down to the range, where there are some targets set up for her to shoot. Before he actually shows her how to fire the gun, he takes a moment to show her how to unlatch the cylinder so that the gun can be loaded. Then he shows her the safety of the gun. "This little switch right here is the safety. It's meant to keep your gun from going off if you drop it. You switch it off when you're ready to fire." Once she shows that she understands that, Victor actually shows her how to shoot the gun. "Hold the gun with both hands, raise it to eye level, point it at the target, and fire when ready."

Alana would spend the first few days back at her club, doing some general maintenance like always. She knew she couldnt leave Lestat alone there forever. She had to go back and manage things eventually. Once The Bliss was back to a position she liked, she'd send out a post or two advertising the Bliss and a valentine's day event coming up in the near future before going back to Aless's mansion. She'd then spend her time with Harold in the music room and assist him in fashion designing and instrumental playing.

Misha didn't tire very easy, but she slept well after Los Angeles. Everyone had their own priorities and agendas to do, and understandably so. Prince Williams gave them some time off after their last assignment, and the coterie was taking advantage of the time to attend to matters. Misha went to the gym to attend to a few evening clients, catching up and chit chatting with the employees she knew and liked. Even though she had to pretend to be human, the gentle and pleasant interaction with mortals was welcome, and they were kind to her. However, Misha never took what she had, or was given, ungratefully. She understood that while she was made this way, many others had to work very hard to gain even a fraction of the level of physical fitness Misha had. She gained professional pleasure by helping people, telling them what to do, and watching the results proudly. She felt useful, and wanted, and that meant a lot to her. The most difficult part was coming up with cover stories as to her true nature and origins, and faking to be weaker than she was - that was never fun. But she knew why it had to be done.
She came home after her shift. Trainers, her workout top, and her shorts were flung off and she took a quick shower to clean up. She knew that Aless and Victor were having gun lessons on the range, and as Misha was looking at her clothes, she found something she didn't wear too much, but thought of Aless as she saw it. It was a very sporty sexy red bikini, but was sensual enough to be counted as lingerie. She put it on, and looked at herself in the mirror. She bit her lip, pleased with what she saw, and wondered if Aless would think the same way. She snuck into her room, laid on Aless's bed, and waited for her to come in.
Victor made shooting a gun look so easy, seamlessly popping off shots one after another, the bullets hitting their targets right where he aimed them. It was interesting to see how focused he got, how his brows would furrow ever so slightly as he narrowed his eyes on the target and shot. She was more watching his face than his hands on the gun, and when it came for her to give it a shot (heh), she remembers his words and shoots... and misses. She frowns a bit, then tries again... and hits!
They weren't perfect, some shots, while still on the target, wasn't at the bullseye she was aiming for, though she was sure that with practice she would reach his level. "You make this all look so easy," She comments, lowering her aim. "Were you a cop when you were mortal? Gun handling instructor? Is that why you're so good with them?"

Alessandra's first shot missed the target, but her second shot hit and her accuracy did improve as she went on. She was definitely quicker in learning how to use a gun than she was with other modern appliances. "You did well today. With more practice you'll be hitting that bullseye in no time."
Victor chuckles when Alessandra asks if he was a cop during his former life. "No, nothing so exciting. My dad liked to shoot. He first taught me how to shoot a gun when I was 10 and every couple of weeks we'd go shooting. When I was old enough, I got a license and bought my own, but I didn't go shooting as often because I was busier now that I was an adult. But after I was Embraced, I had plenty of time to shoot and over the years it got easier to stay cool and tune out the distractions than it was when I was a mortal. Also, getting into life-or-death gunfights will make you a better shot real quick.

Alessandra nods at his answer, her eyes momentarily looking over to the now shot up targets. She puts the safety on Bad Romance and looks to him again. "Hm... Now that I think about it, I don't believe I ever asked what you did before being Embraced... How was your life like? What did you do? Care to share a few stories with me, Vicky?" She chuckles lightly at the name, even pinching his cheek for extra effect.

So for this particular Chronicle, we used three different kinds of combat options. Each one is slightly different.
1. Fast Conflict: This is where I assign a DV to an enemy (Blood: DV2) and you form your pool and roll.
3. Three Rounds Conflict: This type takes longer but allows all of the basic rules like dodging and attacking multiple opponents.
I prefer Fast Conflict over all the others, since there aren't too many options for combat in VTM and it can get sort of repetitive.
