Morgan is not the persuading type of guy, so he lets the others try to talk the priest around. Moving back to the room with the trap door he moves to it and will look to see how it is locked.
Could Black Philip tell generally what sort of chant he’s making? Like is he praying for whoever is down below or for protection against him, or what?
It does seem to be repeating the same thing over and over just a prayer to the "morninglord" to grant him wisdom or knowledge to save a soul.
However, Willhelm is able to get his attention, the priest turns to him - Young boy, your assistance is not required here, please leave us...my son returned after going after that demon! he followed a foreigner... supposedly a wizard that would've help us to end this curse for good, but everyone disappeared, everyone but mu son - He chants with a voice that you can barely hear partly because his throat can't physically continue and maybe because that's not meant for you to hear, he stops and suddenly turns back to you - Willhelm - and says - But he changed, I can see your weapons and I'm not a fool...I have this situation under control, please leave us.
Everyone that was looking through the cracks of the floor - couldn't distinguish but a humanoid form going crazy and trashing the place... or at least that's what you can make out of the sound.
Mado's ears twitch at that. "Food? What want food? No food here." He looks to the priest, then everyone in the room. (Intelligence check to see if Mado believes the humanoid down there is a creature of the night.)
"Your son...went after Strahd." Wilhelm mumbled, closing his eyes and sighing deeply. "And now, this is what remains of him..." Wilhelm looks upon the man with pity.
"You say that you have the situation under control? How? To be alone with him, while he is in this condition, it is not safe." Wilhelm tried reasoning with him. "We need information on Strahd. So that what has happened to your son does not continue to happen to others. Father, what can you tell us?"
As Willhelm seems to have a normal conversation with the priest, everyone that's near the hallway would hear a loud crack from the trap door on the first room on the right.
The priest and those near him continue engaged in one of the most weird conversations the've had or witnessed in a long time.
Morgan turn to his right hand and it's holding the whole door with hinges and all - you see steps that takes you to the church’s undercroft, it has rough-hewn walls and a floor made of damp clay and earth. Rotting wooden pillars strain under the weight of the wooden ceiling. Candlelight from the chapel above slips though the cracks, allowing you to glimpse a gaunt shape in the far corner. The figure turns to the where the trap door was as Morgan lays with it on his hands.
"I have the door open!" Morgan calls to his companions. "Might need some help here though..." He watches the figure as he gets to his own feet, not planning on going down into the area below until his companions are with him.
"Indeed. No point in deliberating on it now, though." Wilhelm comes up behind the group, his hand tightly gripping his sword. "Be cautious dealing with this one. Ending up like him...would not be ideal."
The sound of steel sliding out of its sheath is loud in the small room as Morgan's sword clears its sheath. "Let's take care of him then..." Morgan says in his soft voice, then he climbs down into the area below the trapdoor. He keeps his eyes on the creature there as he moves into its area.

The humanoid located below the church hears Vladimir - Father! is that food for me?

Morgan continues checking out the trapdoor. If he cannot figure out how it is locked he will simply try to break it open..

(OOC: My previous post had him checking out the trapdoor, so I am just continuing it here...)

“Ve cannot leave him... it, down there.” Vladimir says. “There must be something ve can do for the priest and his son.”
"Yes. There must be something," Black Philip says, repeating Vladimir, as he goes to the trapdoor. If he can, Black Philip will open it.

Black Philip gives Morgan a tap on the shoulder and heads down. Moving a bit closer to the man to get a better look.

Vladimir nocks an arrow to to his longbow and trains it on the gaunt figure. Behind his wild black beard, his expression is grim.
”Ve clearly did not think this one out.” He mutters.
"Indeed. No point in deliberating on it now, though." Wilhelm comes up behind the group, his hand tightly gripping his sword. "Be cautious dealing with this one. Ending up like him...would not be ideal."

“I haff your back!” Valdimir whispers, descending after Morton. He never takes his eyes off the figure.
