Not sure how this will work, but let's give it a try...
Meepo casts watery sphere He would place it on the top of the wall near Lionel, then sweep it along the top of that wall, hopefully gathering up several of these vulture creatures as it moves over that area. He would command his undead to stand to either side of him, defending him from any attacks.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Two blasts strike the first vulture creature and it howls in anger and pain. These creatures are large, wicked looking things. A rippling sphere of water appears over the wall near Lionel, and sweeps across the space, passing through the big spikes on it's way to strike the two creatures. (Meepo, if you could include DC's for saves in your future text so I don't have to look them up, that'd be super helpful, thanks in advance!!)
Lionel clutches his ears as the screech seems to burrow it's way into his mind, rattling his brain and canceling out his ability to think.
One of the creatures seems to push its way out of the water, but the second one gets stuck within it, and floats awkwardly in the water as it's limps push about ineffectively.
The other vulture thing leaps towards Lionel but two arrows lash out from the far side of the wall and strike it, digging into the gaunt creatures flesh. It screeches in pain but still attacks Lionel.
It tries to bite Lionel with it's beak: 11 Damage: 11 and claw him: 23 Damage: 13 while he's crouched covering his ears, unable to defend himself.
Ismark yanks out his bow and fires two arrows at the creature: Attack: 24 Damage: 2. Attack: 10 Damage: 9.
Everyone's next action. Lionel, you're no longer stunned.
Meepo casts ray of frost at the one Lionel is fighting.
To hit: 17
Damage: 10 cold and its speed is reduced by 10 feet.
he then turns the globe of water around and slams it into the one fighting Lionel as well. It has to make a DC 14 STR save or be trapped inside. Since they are large the one inside would be ejected if it takes in the second one. If he is ejected, then he lands prone in a space within 5 feet of the globe. Not sure if that means he falls to the ground if he doesn't manage to land on the wall...
Olin weaves magic a blast of white light slashes out at the creature. Attack: 26 Damage: 13
Still standing, the creature prepares to lunge at Lionel but two more arrows strike it from beyond the wall, one into it's throat, and the creature topples from the ledge.
Mordekai, wanna attack the one in the water somehow?
Otherwise, on its turn, it attempts to break free of the water: 12 and fails.
Being encased in water, it's sorta protected from ranged attacks. ?? Everyone next action?
I was going to ask that as well, last round. The watery sphere restrains it to give advantage, but does the water itself completely stop ranged attacks? Even if it does, Mordekai would have spent last turn transferring Hex to it, then firing two Eldritch Blasts at it. I'll roll them anyway for last turn:
Attack: 21 Damage: 10 + 6 Hex.
Attack: 25 Damage: 8 + 3 Hex.
Presumably they just impact the water to no effect, so Mordekai will use this turn to try and climb the rope up the wall.
The blasts of force smash into the water, spraying foamy liquid into the air, but it's unclear if you've hurt the thing. Lionel slashes his sword into the water a couple times, but the sphere is quite large and moving, and though your blade knicked the thing, you're not sure if you did damage.
Meepo neatly guides the demon into the green flame with his bubble of water and then lets his spell vanish. There's a great hiss of steam and bubbling water as they two meet and then the water evaporates with a white plume of hot steam and the creature lands in the flame. It screeches, but the flame is either not that hot, or doesn't bother the thing so much, as it simply steps forward from the green flame, its hide steaming and smoking, its beady eyes glaring at the group.
It was holding its action. It reaches out it's arms and the air around the group seems to waver and shimmer. 82 and then nothing happens. An arrow from the far side of the wall hits the stone wall, and another slams into the creatures shoulder. It growls.
Everyone else take your action. Lionel, you can't see the demonic thing since you're now above it on top of the wall. 20 foot drop. The rope has been securely attached already, in case you're wondering. Mordekai you made it 15 feet up the rope, and are hanging, and can't see the demon from here since it's inside the passage through the wall.
Ismark fires two arrows at the thing. Attack: 15 Damage: 3. Attack: 16 Damage: 6
Can't Lionel simply slide from the rope? Mordekai's initiative is higher, he might get off before. In the worst case, Lionel can jump, taking damage, but if both monsters went down - so should he.
(How wide is the wall? And what are the rules for jumping down the other side? I know falling does 1d6 damage per 10ft, but if it's a pre-meditated jump down, would it be lessened, or do you just treat them the same? And is that still all just movement, or would it also require an action to jump down?)
The wall is 10 feet wide. If you descend down the other side, you will be putting yourself on the OTHER side of the green flames from the monster you group is fighting. He will be heavily obscured from your vision, but you will still be able to target him.
(OOC: If you just jump, the rules don't allow for any reducing in fall damage. They removed any acrobatics check for reducing the damage. It would take up 30 feet of movement to climb up the rest of the way up the rope, 10 feet of movement to run across the wall (and 'jump / fall'), and then 15 feet of movement to stand up again, since you'll take damage and be treated as prone. I will only treat the fall as 23 feet or so, since you can hang down and then drop. All of this counts as your movement, unless you're using your action to dash to get more movement. Pre-meditated 'jumping' i'm essentially saying would reduce the falling distance by your characters height + arm length, roughly 7 feet. The rope will move to the other side though, so you could also just use that 60 feet of movement to safely climb down the rope on the far side.)
A blast of cold misses the creature, another blast strikes it. Lionel leaps from the top of the wall (9 falling damage) rolling to his feet and then leaps at the creature, his blade missing once then striking the thing. It shrieks in pain.
Olin fires another blast of guiding light, Attack: 21 Damage: 12
Mordekai will climb up to the top of the wall, and will move along to the gap, hoping to be able to look down on the creature from above. If he can get within view of it, he'll go ahead and cast Eldritch Blast at it.
Attack: 20 Damage: 6 + 5 Hex
Attack: 16 Damage: 11 + 4 Hex
If he can't get within sight, he'll just cast Mage Armor on himself instead (as I don't think I stated he had cast it any point within the last 8 hours).
(OOC: Oh thank goodness gracious, the dice roller overlay works again!! )
Mordekai blasts the thing twice, it stumbles forward, bits of bone poking through tears in its rotting flesh, but the demonic thing shows no thought for itself as it fights on.
It tries to gash Lionel to bits. It's beak slashes down at him: 14 Damage: 7, and then its wicked claws lash out. Attack: 14 Damage: 18
Everyone's next action.
