Pizazz's Ravenloft and Beyond

Two arrows come from down the hall, slamming off the creatures hard amber skull.  Lionel frowns, and leaps forward once more taking two strikes at the amber creature, his sword leaving huge cracks in the things side as it stumbles a bit...but continues to stand.

Mordekai, Meepo.

(Didn't realize Meepo was that close to begin with, thought the others were coming back towards him, but no problem.)

Meepo casts shield to deflect the second strike, but is hit by the first.

On his turn he casts misty step to teleport back behind the others.  He then casts ray of frost again at the construct.

Attack: 26 Damage: 24

Mordekai stays back, seeing Lionel engage the construct up close, and continues his magical bombardment (more Eldritch Blasts!).

Attack: 23 Damage: 10 + 4 Hex

Attack: 22 Damage: 13 + 3 Hex

(Fair enough Meepo, I never provided a map, so I guess that's sorta my fault.  By the time you walked into the room and saw the golem you were all within 30 feet...I'll try to be more clear next time...) 

With the blast of ice and the magic from Mordekai the cracked golem's structure gives way and chunks of amber collapse to the ground in a loud clatter. 

You hear a voice from outside in the main temple in the darkness, "Still can't find your sword, oh boo hooo."   

A blast of lightning rips through the air, sending a roaring boom through the hall, the light blinding as the power hits each of you and zig zags between you striking through you all. Dex Save DC 17.  31 lightning damage, save for half. 

You can all take your turn now.

DC17 DEX save: 16

Can we see the enemy? 

Lionel DEX save: 6

Lionel did not have time to react to the voice or to check if the golem is destroyed - the lightning hit him, and the paladin dropped down on the icy ground.

Meepo dex save: 17

Meepo sends Rat flying back into the chamber the lightning came from.  He has the Tressym do a circle to see if he can find the enemy mage.  (Only needs to get within 30 feet to detect someone who is invisible.  Meepo will have more actions based on what Rat finds.

Rat perception: 18 (In case the mage is not invisible but hiding or something.)

Mordekai and Rat both see the mage.  He is now visible, though Mordekai, he was not there a moment ago, so he must have been invisible.  He's crouched on the other side of the large statue's head, on its shoulder, with partial cover.  You can both act against him. He is 60 feet away.

(Where are we? Are we on the top right balcony?)

Mordekai will transfer Hex onto the mage, and cast Eldritch Blast at him, before ducking round into the corridor where he can take cover behind the arrow slits.

Attack: 18 Damage: 10 + 4 Hex.

Attack: 12 Damage: 14 + 6 Hex. 

Here's an updated map.  Getting to the arrow slits is more than 30 feet, but you can take full cover inside the door to this room if you want, or make your way most of the way to the arrow slits.

At initiative 16. Ulthan moves closer to where he thinks the bolt came from preparing arrows for immediate fire. If he happens to see a non-party member from that direction especially undead or the previous mage, then he'll let loose. If he doesn't see anything then he'll just move again further down the stairs, last thing he wants to do is bunch up.

Meepo cast ice storm from his staff.

DC 14 save or take 11 magical bludgeoning and 14 cold.  Half on save.

Mordekai will move down as far as he can toward the arrow slits. The last thing he wants to do is stay close to Meepo and leave a nice big target for any area effect spell that might also catch Lionel at the moment!

Ulthan moves over to the stairs, but can't see far enough through the darkness to see anything.  Meepo turns, the staff pointed, shards of ice begin to pound down around the statues.  The wizard curses as the ice hits him and then he leaps backwards behind the statue disappearing from sight. 

Next actions.

With no little trepidation, Meepo casts fireball making sure he is behind a wall and far away from it as it goes off.  His face goes ashen as he casts, but he grits his pointed teeth and finishes the spell.

(aiming for as close to where the wizard jumped to as he can target the spell.

DC14 dex for half, 30 fire damage.

Meepo moves behind a wall or something else as soon as the mote leaves his hand, not wishing to even see where it lands.

Mordekai finishes moving down to the arrow slits, to try and see the wizard.  If he can't get a line of sight to the wizard from the first arrow slit, he'll move to the next if he still has movement.  If he gets sight of the wizard, he'll let loose another couple of Eldritch Blasts in his direction.

Attack: 16 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. + 1 Hex.

Attack: 24 Damage: 9 + 3 Hex.

((If he can't get any line of sight to the wizard at all, he'll instead cast Minor Illusion, making the image of and angry looking Strahd appear, hovering in the air in the main room (30ft from Mordekai - can't reach the floor so he may as well be flying!), looking menacingly in the direction of the statue where the wizard is.))

Ulthan, keeping pillars for cover darts down the stairs while Mordekai rushes to the arrow slits, ready to cast his spells.  The room is suddenly filled with a plume of bright orange as a fireball explodes around the base of the main statue, the glaring fire light brightening the corners of the massive evil temple for a few moments. Mordekai moves to the next arrow slit as the light fades and darkness enfolds the space once more, but can't catch a site of the cursed wizard.  He summons his illusion of Strahd. 

Ulthan, you take a few steps down the stairs, scanning, when suddenly a cloaked vampiric figure appears floating in the air above you. He's not looking in your direction, but rather towards the statue.  You let loose an arrow which rips through it...without affecting it, and your brain realizes it's an illusion, so you turn back to the main room, scanning.  

The moments pass....but the wizard does not appear again.  It's quiet, and dark. The oppressive cold presses in.
