Mordekai was planning to get a glimpse at the town before he turns in anyway, but Meepo seemed to want to explore by himself, so Mordekai let's him go. As Meepo disappears, Mordekai will set off in the same direction. It's apparently a very small town, so Mordekai figures it won't take too long to check it out. He's just seeking to get a general impression of the layout of the town, and make note of where any public or civic buildings might be (tavern, inn, town hall, etc) to get a read on where people are most likely to congregate, etc. If he sees anyone out at this time, he'll avoid drawing attention to himself but will try to get a good look at them for inspiration for future identities.
Investigation: 5 (or if Perception is more relevant, add 1 to that result.
(OOC: DM, I'm not expecting you to go into detail on any of these things, just RPing that Mordekai likes to know these things and scope out a new place when he gets there. Not intending to create extra work for you!)

Meepo will head into town once he is done discharging his mentoring duties. He considers how much work it is to be teaching two different things as he walks, but is so proud of the fact that he shrugs off the extra work as not important. he nearly ahs a skip in his step as he reaches town, the darkness soothing to his eyes after a long day of sunlight.
In town he makes his way around town, smiling up at the bigs he meets as he passes them by. He keeps his eyes out for anything that might get lost, knowing he doesn't have long in this place to do his teaching of not losing things.
Slight of hand: 20
During his trip around the town he will also try to talk to some people about the lord his wizard friend, the leader of the wagon bigs, is concerned about.
Investigation: 8 (Rolling with disadvantage due to him only half-heartidly trying at this part of it, more as an after-thought...)
Tell shapes loom out of the darkness. The muddy ground underfoot gives way to slick, wet cobblestones. The tall shapes become recognizable as village dwellings. The windows of each house stare out from pools of blackness. As Meepo wanders into town, a shutter is closed. In the distance a door closes. It is silent and still in the darkness. The town is a cluster of closely pressed together buildings cut through with narrow cobbled streets that travel at odd angles and have many curves. Smoke dribbles out of the occasional chimney, but the place gives the distinct impression of being deserted. Meepo occasionally feels eyes on him, peer at him from between a tiny opening in 2nd floor shutters, or from the shadows between a windows curtains. But no one walks the streets, and no sounds come from the buildings. The people here seem very good at not losing things, as almost nothing is left sitting about for Meepo to find.
As Meepo nears the center of town he spots a large building on his left with a sign out front reading "Blidrath's Mercantile". To his right, he sees another sign hanging precariously askew proclaiming it to be the "Blood on the vine tavern". It's doors are closed, it's windows dark.
Looking down a street to his left, he finally sees two figures out in the street. They appear to be small folk. A girl and a boy. The smaller one, barely taller than Meepo, is the boy, wearing a thick ornate cloak with a heavy purple hood and detailed needle point patterns sewn into it's hems and edges. The girl is taller, and thin, wearing a fine appointed purple shirt and a red cape with high pointed collars. Both have dark hair, wear knee high laced up boots, and have grim expressions on their faces. The boy appears to be whimpering quietly at Meepo approaches.
The girl shushes the boy and says to Meepo in a hushed tone, "There's a monster in our house." She then points to a tall brick row house that has seen better days. Its windows are dark. It has a gated portico on the ground floor, and the rusty gate is slightly ajar. The houses on either side are abandoned, their windows and doors boarded up.
Mordekai, it's hard not to be able to keep track fo Meepo as you traverse the town, since he's the only figure moving in deserted streets. You see everything he's seen, and are back at the town's center crossroad, seeing Meepo approach two children in the road.
Olin, you enjoy a nice warm tea. Aga sits, her feet up, trying to ignore the chills at the back of her mind as she sips a little wine. The Vistani have gone to sleep, almost immediately, as if hoping to sleep through the night, leaving the two of you tending to the dying fire by yourselves. A bank of fog slowly seeps across the land, enveloping the Vistani camp in a few moments. The fog deadens the sounds, leaving you both in an uncomfortable quiet, with only the crackling fire making noise.

"Ah, Meepo. I'm glad to see you here, for a moment I thought I might be lost. Who else have you found? Were you children lost, too?"
Seeing the expression on their faces, Mordekai smiles at the children, a warm, friendly, reassuring smile. "I'm sure Meepo here can help. He's very good at that."
"Meepo good teaching no lose... And... Dragon Roars..." Meepo says as he eyes the house the children pointed to. "Meepo no sure good monster hunting..." He glances to the kids and then back to the house. Sticking out his coppery chest though he gives a nod of decision. "Meepo go..." He glances up at Malekai questioningly. "Come with Meepo?" As he walks towards the house he decides he can at least help take care of lost things as they seek out this monster and he wonders if this monster might be lost as well. Maybe he is not doing something too out of his teachings...
After trying, and failing, to relax, Aga will turn to Olin. "Call me crazy, but, do you ever get the sense that you're being watched." Her hand grips her lance tighter. "I haven't felt so on-guard in a while."
"Did you say monster hunting? I'd love to." says Mordekai, and seeing Meepo already walking towards the house, he follows, looking to see if there's anything to be made out in the dark windows.
Stanamir emerges from his wagon, his night robes hanging heavy from around him, and looks about with alarm, finally making eye contact with Aga and Olin. "Your friends have gone to town yes? I....I have a feeling...I fear they may be in trouble. Aga...these people are now your tribe. Meepo is well meaning, but, he needs your leadership. Without it, I fear, this place will consume him all too quickly. And though the road in front of you may be filled with glory, you will not get there alone. You will need all of them. Go to them."
Meepo wanders towards the iron gate with Mordekai following shortly behind. The wrought-iron gate has hinges on one side, and a lock on the other, and fills the archway of a stone portico, basically a covered porch that takes up a third of the front of the house. Just inside the small portico are the front doors of the house, oaken and aged with paint flaking from their surface. Oil lamps of black iron and glass burned to black by heat hang inside the portico by chains on either side of the door. The slightly ajar iron gate shrieks loudly in the quiet night as Meepo pushes it open enough to step up onto the stone porch. Dried leaves and layers of thick dust cover the porch, cobwebs hang heavy in the corners that are filled with grime. A quick glance back and the two children are watching as Meepo and Mordekai make their way to the house. A thick fog seems to be gathering in the streets and between buildings.

"Trouble?" Aga stands to her feet, her brow furrowing at Stanimir. She feels a growl pulsing on the back of her throat, but tempers it...for now. The chill in her body intenses for a moment, then she snaps to where she last saw Meepo head off. Aga taps Olin with her lance and becons him. "Come. I feel this night might get a bit exciting." Then, not waiting for him to respond, takes off to town.

"Um, Meepo?" Mordekai whispers, "Do you remember what the old man said about the fog around here? That it has a will of its own, and not to try and breach it against its will? Take a look around us. If this fog isn't natural fog, do you think it's just coincidence that it's gathering around us as we approach the house? Maybe we should ask the kids for more details? After all, we wouldn't want them wandering off and getting lost while we're inside, would we?"
Mordekai turns to look at the children, and takes a good look at them to see if he can see any sign of them not being who they claim to be.
Just inside the gate, Meepo pauses and looks up at mordekai. "Meepo need Rat." He says with an appolagetic smile. "Rat bit scary some." He warns, then he summons his familiar from its dimentional sanctum. Instantly a zombie Tressym appears, flying a bit drunkenly on wings that might have more decay on them than not. The smell is fairly bad, a bit rot, a bit mold, and a lot of dead. "Rat keep eye for Meepo." Meepo says to Mordekai as he nods towards the house again.
When Mordekai mentions the fog Meepo will glance at it in question. "Fog, Meepo like fog." he says. "Helps Meepo's eyes.." He considers it for a moment. "Like dark better, but fog ok..."
At the mention of the kids getting lost, He looks back at them as well. "Talk little bigs then." He says, nodding for Mordekai to go ahead. "Meepo and Rat watch house." he turns to his zombie tressym. "Rat, fly bout house..." He gestures in a circle to the familiar, indicating for it to do a quick circle of the house. The zombie flies off a bit topsy-turvy on its wings, clearly not too graceful in the air.
Before Stanimir comes out, Olin answers Aga, "I have not felt watched, but I do not trust this place. It should not be here... Or, I don't know, maybe we should not..."
After Stanimir speaks to Aga, "We should make haste." Olin gathers his weapons and follows after, quickly placing a hand on her shoulder. Olin casts guidance on Aga.
Mordekai looks carefully at the two children. The boy sniffles while holding a small stuffed animal, looking back at Mordekai solemly. The taller girl looks at him. He's not sure why, but, he senses a lack of....something. A lack of soul in her eyes maybe? It's dark, and foggy, and she's a small girl, but when he looks into her eyes, he feels something is missing.
Meepo and Mordekai both look around at the thickening fog. Unlike the fog, back at the road, before the gates, that had "closed in" on the road behind them, this fog seems...more natural somehow. It hovers in the streets, though is thin above them allowing them to see the few odd twinkles from the stars above.
