Short but a very sincere prayer was answered in a strangest way: a glowing weapon - the long sword - appeared before Ordrag on top of the shattered glass. The design is simple yet even to those unfamiliar with weapons looks incredibly functional - a sword made for battles not for decorating a wall. Polly's spell confirmed the magical features of the blade. (Longsword, +2) Nothing else is illuminating around here. For now at least.
There is definitely someone of something in that compartment in the middle (G4) - Owis reported two creatures with insectoid features standing there. Each one is armed with a wicked trident.
(The curtains would not be hard to pull aside, but by now they do block the view)
At the request to hold up, Adray would hold an arm up to stop Ordrag and give nod of approval to continue the spell. He would then hold a defensive position between the entrance to the next room and his friends.
Ooc: Awesome job with that prayer Ordrag. We could have walked right past that boon. Pretty much planning on praying at each holy site referenced now. The bridge, the pilliars, these windows...
“That sword is magical Nibs. It’s an artifact that will help guide your arm when you swing it, so keep it ....” what ever she was about to say is cut of when Owis report to Polly about the creatures in the other room, which she relay to the others.
Fran would have Brutus pad over to her side, taking comfort close to Lulu. They’d wait patiently while the others completed their prayers and investigations. The artificer found herself never in a hurry here, unless they were being chased of course, but otherwise she preferred the extra caution, as it seems to be paying off each step of the way.
Choir offers a brief prayer of thanks to whichever god provided the sweet new blade to her ally. She prepares to face the creatures in the other room. It didn't sound as if they were likely to be refugees. Choir didn't seem to remember any insectoid inhabitants of Elturel (did she?) except the tiny bugs, and anyway, she feels an innate suspicion of anyone carrying a trident in Hell. Probably some kind of demons or devils.

LOL. I added that bit on a whim, afraid of getting penalised for further desecrating the chapel. Certainly didn't realise there was an actual reward associated with it. I suspect our DM was being a bit generous there.
Ordrag walks over to the glowing sword, suspecting it to be an illusion and attempting to pass his hand through it, but finding it to be real and solid he picks it up. It is simple indeed, but even the untrained half-orc can sense the benefits of the holy enchantment associated with it. He gives it a few test swings, grins at Adray as says: Me is beginning to like these gods more and more.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
(Not at all! The conditions were met (close enough), so the reward is well deserved!)
Neither Choir, nor Polly (nor anyone else) could remember any insectoid natives or guests of Elturel. But those of you who studied Avernus natives in Candlekeep, might remember Mezzoloths (the most common and lowest-ranking yugoloths, demons, that keep neutrality in the Blood War). Mezzoloths do appear as humanoid insects, standing 7 feet tall and weighing 250 pounds. They have six lanky limbs, four of which are arms ending in hands tipped with talons. Their entire bodies are covered in dense plates of ivory-colored chitin and their broad skulls are notably armored as well.
polly will have relays the info about the insectoids to everybody when she knew what they were.
“Do you guys think we can talk with them? Or should we just walk around? With that potion of invisibility I found earlier I can make a total of 3 of us invisible, and where you are safe I can Misty step me and Owis to safety.”
Adray says, "what if I go in, try to draw them out here and yall can squish them as i return? I'm the quickest of us and I'd never ask any of ya to do something I wouldn't myself... except magic. I'll ask you to magic all day cause I can't but ya know what I mean."
Choir nods, gripping her mace and shield in readiness.

Polly pack her books in her bag again and stand up. “How about I try something first? If shit hits the fan, just come and save me.”
she take a deep breath, painfully aware of her friends eyes at her back. She walks over to the curtain and stops and clench her hands and then she walks in.
In abyssal
”Hey there! How are you doing? I’m Polymorpha Greendale, but you can call me Polly.” She smile at the bugs while feeling her heartbeat rush. It is getting harder to breath. “I wonder if you’d allow me and my friends to pass by here?”
Fran would stand at the ready but would have Brutus ahead to be ready to support their gnome. A small smirk of pride for Polly’s bravery could be evident on her face. They all had her back if shit hit the fan.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
There was, probably, a more... descriptive word for Polly;s bravery, because the contrast between the cute little and so normal gnome - and those gigantic insectoids from a nightmare was shocking.
Creatures turned their heads, clearly understanding the words and - surprisingly - not attacking on sight.

Disregard the rolls - these are fiends, they do not count as humanoids.
One opened it's mouth and answered in Abyssal with a coarse raspy voice (mandibles motion was in the same time nauseating scary and mesmerizing): "Puny mortal came to fight demons? Puny mortal will die if it's try."
As if in response to their words you (even those outside the room) can hear a noise coming from downstairs. Both fiends turned pointing the tridents at something there.
”we wish not to fight you, we’re only looking for some people are hoping to bring them back safely..” While speaking with them in abyssal she’s casting worried looks at the stairs
Choir (who understands abyssal but has not heard many conversations in it) stares in amazement at Polly's daring. She waits so see what threat the big hellbugs are preparing for, listening intently to the sounds from downstairs. (Perception: 18 ) It might be an ally. If not, at least they could let the monsters hit each other for a while before getting involved.

A cacophony from below become louder, and six creatures suddenly rushed up the stairs: a fiendish looking giant scorpion trailed by five dretches. Mezzoloths, ignoring the group completely now, both raised their tridents, attacking the scorpion and the demons and drawing the first blood.
Choir backs off to watch the battle between hellspawns, regretting her lack of popcorn....
